Another point about last night’s game, as fun as Tozer’s throw is, with the towel and build up and fans going ‘woahhh’, etc, would it not be better to have someone else hurl it in and have a huge 6’3 CB like him in the box to flick it on for one of the attacking players or even score?
Tozer's been with us 4 days, so his throws weren't going to be at their full effectiveness just yet. On a couple of occasions they did cause a bit of panic in the box, but Notts County were excellent defensively all night. Teams that are worse at the back (looking at you Chesterfield) will really struggle against the long throws.

We dealt with the throws fine and if anything the constant slowing down probably helped us, but the towels really need banning. Felt like I spent half the night watching a man drying a football.

Didn’t realise quite how good Wootton’s goal was live. What a header.

Top fishing sir

Why do people still harp on about long throws being some sort of super weapon. Every team has one, don't they? Every defence is used to the challenge posed?

Do we need to be giving credit to Notts County's set piece coach working miracles already?

Ian Pulis-Burchnall chucked out all his fancy coaching and 10m puffin swimming badges and went back to defensive basics last night.

The only person who really let them down defensively was their wimpy keeper who let a midget like Mullin basically charge him and then ball into the net.

Big game tonight after Stockport got their much needed extra 2hrs rest yesterday to drag us there on a bloody Tuesday night. Their predictions have also come true after they said we’d never sell 800 tickets, they were correct, we’ve sold 1200.

No doubt we’ll now get smashed 6-0

Slocombe has been at fault for both goals we’ve conceded during the season and several more in pre-season. Needs to sort himself out quickly or we’ll have to go out and get someone in on loan.

Definitely a different side of us last night, one that not many were convinced we had.

You were so so close to a bite then…. But I took a huge deep breath and decided to be the bigger person and left it

Until it gets called off due to the weather and it ends up on a Tuesday night in February.
The Shay between December and the end of Feb it's a very real possibility. Something tells me with the size of the crowd expected the chairman will put extra effort into making sure that game is playable

After reading how incredible the long throw is here, I was kinda hoping we'd go out and smash our transfer record on Steve Backley. You've deflated me a bit now

If you want to pick fault with the goal (and some of our fans do) the 19 year old centre back we had marking Wooton should have put him under more pressure.

Takes nothing away from the finish though, he still had a lot to do and it was perfect, left Lainton with no chance. Great ball in too.

So chippy - Stocky’s fishing really had got to you.

Anyway we’ve got lots missing through injury/unavailable and no striker who will be able to even attempt to win a header or hold the ball so you’ve got this in the bag.

I put all my remaining betting account funds on a very generously priced Grimsby - I suggest everybody here does the same.

Yeah our defence has been a real concern so far, quite worried about our record

I think that’s a bit harsh on him tbh, not a lot he could’ve done. Thought both teams looked very strong at centre back, Cameron looks an excellent signing for us.

Only real frustration with Notts was that we couldn’t get the subs in the game to create anything in the last half an hour. Think the plan was to get them on at around that time having kept it tight and 0-0, but with you just having equalised we had no momentum and they were both really quiet.

Cameron looked excellent, my pick of your players last night. Versatile too, although I'm not having that hes 24, he looks about 38.

And yet some of our brilliant fans on Facebook branded him a donkey and terrible signing on the back of one PSF against York.

Social media is great, isn’t it.

Fully expecting a defeat tonight to bring us back down to earth, I don’t think we were brilliant against Weymouth and think we’re suspect at fullback. Not sure how we’ll cope with Stockport’s (injured) attack. If we win, it’s a 1-0 park the bus performance.

I think it'll be classic Hurstball and either 0-0 or 1-0 to Grimsby.

Did you see our second half against Southend? We didn’t have a single shot or any meaningful possession in the opposition’s half.

We don’t play with any wingers/wide forwards though our first choice RWB is usually dangerous though he was hobbling for much of the second half on Saturday and his back up is also out injured. Our first choice LWB is also good but he’s still not ready after a long-term back issue.

Sounds like it’s going to be a terrible game.

Our fans have done the classic thing and hyped us up to the absolute max whilst ignoring some of the facts from Saturday. I thought Crookes looked poor, Sousa for me is extremely raw and we still look light up top

Having said that, I’m really excited about McAtee and Fox

You need a lie down. Put on some whale music or summat and come back next weekend in a better mood.

I think out entire defence was guilty of that last night, backing off, backing off all the time. then conversely our midfielders were diving in for first tackles far too high up the pitch, which usually left a large gap in the middle, and the amount of times I saw a County defender or midfielder looking around wondering why they had so much space to dribble forwards was quite concerning.

I would have liked to have seen Dave Jones come on just to shore up that midfield, im not entirely sure who was meant to be playing our holding mid role (Young??) but he drifted forwards far too often.

However, our tactic of getting your two playmakers yellow carded more or less straight away worked a peach ;)

And did they not teach the offside rule at Halifax to Hyde? bar the disallowed goal (where it was definitely borderline) he was constantly offside
