It's not denying any status it's just seniority - as founder members of Football League Division 2 we are clearly the second oldest brother...

My tip to Grimsby is don't get someone sent off inside the first 10 minutes.

Going for 2-0 to the daggers... toxicity in the stands. James Rowe's barmy army bellowed at full time.

Pessimism is high. I hope none of these things happen.

Chesterfield proving that they are a club with great integrity by waiting for Halifax to have a home game so pete wild can say goodbye to their small band of fans before joining up with the spireites

Anyone got any pub recommendations for Notts? Preferably somewhere close to the station I can watch the first half of Kiddy WHU? I'm getting in at 12.11. Gonna go to The Canal House at some point. I like a crafty IPA sort of beer as well if anyone has any recommendations of that ilk.

The pub with The Brewery by the ground was excellent, Navigation I think.

Are you on the train? Just got off mine from Leicester and it’s like Fort Knox, never seen so many police there at this time.

Best place near the station is the Vat and Fiddle over the road, but don’t think they have the football on. The place next door to the Canal House will do and is fine as well.

Yeah Morton Fellows and Clayton should have match on. And Hooters obvs has about 100 tvs if you’re not fussy about ale, but I imagine half of Grimsby will be in there and it’ll be very packed

Yeah on the train but from St Pancras so not with loads of Town fans and not in colours so I'll be able to slip out easily. The Vat and Fiddle seems to be the one, loads of Town fans saying they're off there so I'll probably head there.

Ah nice one cheers, if the Vat and Fiddle is rammed or they figure out I'm an away fan then I'll head to those two.

Cheers both, much appreciated!

There's a clutch of pubs just north of the station by the canal, all decent, it makes a nice pre-match crawl

Vat is usually sound with away fans anyway. There’s not actually many home fans only places, even the Navigation down at the ground isn’t.

Don’t leave the station by the side exit towards the ground, that’s where they’ve all blocked it off, had to persuade them my black and white scarf was Notts and not GTFC. Out the front or other side and reckon you’ll be fine.

Ah sorry mate I missed that. We're pretty tidy on the ball I'd say, we like to get it down and zip it around pretty fast but it has the potential to fall flat on its face when the opposition is all up in our faces. I wasn't at our match vs you at Blundell Park earlier in the season but the only team I've seen pass better than us has been Solihull probably, which came as a surprise as I thought they were gonna try and kick us off the park. How good we are on the day usually relies on how McAtee and Taylor link up. They've got a great understanding and they're both better than most attacking players in the division and we create a lot either directly through them or through them bringing the wide players in. However, that brings me onto what we're bad at...the wide players have generally been inconsistent and wasteful, Erico Sousa being the prime example of that. He'll absolutely rinse your full back and then comically fluff a cross or a shot. We also don't have a natural number 9 in the squad and the amount of chances we miss in the box or the amount of times the balls rolls/flashes across the box with nobody there is infuriating. At the back we're tough to break down but have a silly error or two in us every single match. As you can imagine Waterfall and Pearson clean up in the air, but are a bit dodgy on the deck which is almost certainly what Burchnall will be looking to exploit. We've struggled against the more aggressive teams and generally performed better against the teams that try to play a bit. however that lack of a fox in the box means we haven't taken anywhere near enough points from matches against the sides above us despite matching or outplaying pretty much all of them.

Cheers SoC and chrisblor yep, I think we will certainly try to get our trickier players IN AND AROUND Pearson and Waterfall, although I’m not expecting Wootton to get much change in the air from them. Palmer might sit a bit deeper today to keep an eye on McAtee, Joel Taylor versus Efete could be a decent match up on the left/right side.

Cold blustery day here, wouldn’t be surprised to see a low scoring draw, which wouldn’t do either much good really. Enjoy the day out!

If Palmer is on McAtee I'd expect him to be covering a fair bit of ground, he's buzzy as owt and just goes wherever he wants when he's on it but to be fair that's probably the best way to stop us. If you can keep McAtee quiet then we really are at the mercy of our wide players so that Efete/Taylor battle could end up being key. I really hope Harry Clifton is in the middle and we start with two natural wingers but I'm not holding out hope as Hurst seems to be allergic to starting Max Wright.

I’d be surprised if we stuck someone on him specifically, not really our style. I’ll be interested to see if you play 4-4-2/4-4-1-1, think you normally do but teams very rarely do it against us because you’re basically sacrificing the ball completely being that outnumbered in midfield against us.
