Is Jeff King any good? I remember him in our reserves a few years ago, nephew of Alty legend John King. I just assumed he had dropped down a few levels and disappeared, as all of our reserve players are apt to do. I was most surprised when I read of him at Halifax.
We picked him up from Scotland, St Mirren from memory, so clearly been around for a relatively young player.

Came as an ok attacking midfielder but was converted to RWB and has probably been our best performer this season tbh

Gutting.

Wealdstone have created 1 chance in the entire game and they’ve scored it

Got to say contrary to Southern Shayman opinion, I didn’t think the challenge from Jeff King warranted a red and neither did the second red. If I was a Halifax supporter, I’d be spewing over those decisions.

Strange game really, Stones very slow in terms of tempo which allowed Halifax to setup defensively for the majority of the game (very well I should add). Once the goal went in and it was a very well taken strike from Danny Parish, that took the wind out of Halifax and we missed 3-4 guilt edged chances to score a 2nd.

5 on the trot from us which is unbelievable.

I thought the second was a ludicrous decision.

Found it bizarre how passive you were for the majority of the game. Think it would be fair to say we were comfortable and pretty untroubled until the Parrish goal.

Obviously with us down to 9 men and pushing you had chances at the end

Last two matches we have been so far away from how we have played this season, yet won both games and kept clean sheets. Free scoring football is out of the window and clean sheets are in!

Our worst performance of the season, yet second for the first time since 1985.

Just watched the incidents back. Jeff King tackle by the law of the game is a red. Got the ball but went in with both feet. Wealdstone man on the stroke of half time did the exact same sort of tackle on Dom Tear and only got a booking. Where’s the consistency? Williams second
was very harsh too.

Both managers rightly sent off. Wealdstone manager aggressively stuck his head into our assistant manager. Pete Wild rightly came and stuck up for him but a bit too aggressively. Daft from both managers.

As for the game itself. How we’ve not come away with a point I’ll never know. I don’t know if Wealdstone had a bad game but they were awful. Didn’t look like a team 3rd in the league against ten men. One cracking strike has won the game. Created nothing before that.

Once again when that clown aka Marsden reds one of our games he’s the main talking point rather than the game itself. Awful every time we have him. Rant over.

Poor display from the Stones although I think you have to give Halifax credit for the way they adapted after the early red card. Very professional performance from them which you would expect from a full time side. Well organised, shut down the spaces quickly and forced us to go backwards and sideways, with them content to sit in and try to hit us on the break. We seemed cautious and patient which in the end turned out to be the right game plan. Goals change games, the rest is irrelevant.

Irrespective of the display, it’s a quite incredible run of results for the Stones. No part time side in this division should travel hundreds of miles midweek and go gung ho against a bunch of full time pros on their own patch. That’s exactly why part time sides have struggled to pick up points on the road midweek in previous seasons.

Our players back to their day jobs tomorrow morning after a 4 hour journey back.

We have Dover next and then a run of Eastleigh, Sutton, Notts County and Torquay. We could easily lose all four of them and we will have a better idea about ourselves after those. Then Barnet.

Well that's us bottom of the league then. Slightly strange that we've conceded 40% fewer goals than Wealdstone who are 2nd. I wasn't expecting scoring goals to be our problem this season.

And that goals against column is exactly why we have to be more cautious. And its worked because that's back to back clean sheets after conceding 15 goals in the previous 6 games..

Cheers - that's three ex-Alty players who thrived with Halifax recently - David Lynch and Jordan Sinnott are the other two I can recall

What’s gone off? Decent starting XI on paper? Starting to be a weird season, with Stockport being the latest club to come down with a load of cases the table is going to be all over the place soon. Get the feeling we could get some surprises this year, depending on who stays Covid-free!

Solihull looked decent enough, certainly a yard quicker physically and mentally. Oh for a striker

All of our games have been very tight, four have been draws and the other three 1 goal losses. We do have a decent team but there's no pace to it and we're not attacking the wings enough IMO. There are signs things might be starting to move in the right direction, Bromley in the cup last week was an improvement on the whole.
