Speaking of Lexus Beeden he was rock solid in defence today never put a foot wrong, just what we need. I hope he's okay overstretched in a tackle. Purver was quality in midfield and I was also impressed with Hope.

Up front I might be wrong but I don't think it's gonna work with Charman running around on his own, we could have done with possibly capturing a Beck type on loan. Early days with Mondal and Santos they'll certainly improve!

I thought the scoreline perhaps did not reflect the effort the lads put in we played some decent football.
Yeah I agree with that.

From a defensive and midfield stand point thought we looked good. Beeden won his duels which is what I was hoping for, especially against younger less physical opposition. Hope I thought was technically very decent, needs a bit more experience in terms of his defending but plenty there to be happy with. Purver looks a great signing, can't see many midfields relishing a battle with him, Wheatley and Hatfield this season. There were flashes of Mondal and Dos Santos and what they would bring in the second half. Overall thought we played some nice football considering the lads probably only had Thursdays training session following the 10 day isolation periods.

As for the result, we conceded after we'd made the majority of our changes and had someone filling in at CB in Beedens place so not too worried about that. Think Harrogate will be a much better test far more physical side and more like the types of team we'll come up against in the NLN.

My only concerns are around the lack of trialists yesterday, I know AA has said the offers we have out are for senior pro's who aren't really likely to come trialing at NLN clubs but if they say no it's a bit of a missed opportunity where we could have been looking at players. We still need 4 or so players (Experienced CB, CAM, Winger and a CF) and time to actually bed them in and get the integrated. Agree with you we could do with someone a bit more in the target man style upfront to either play with or give us a different option to Charman. Think there's plenty in the squad to give us a decent season but think until we fill those 4 remaining spaces it's hard to tell if we can be more than a mid table side.

We beat Scarborough 4-1 Saturday a game we normally lose pre season.
Willoughby seems to be fire at moment 2 goals and star man.
Watson looks to have signed well Donaldson,Willoughby and Heaney def look the best pre season.
Quiet bizarrely lowest budget since dropping to this level but just tells me how much money we have waisted in past.

Willoughby seems to of started on good form but Heaney will be star player. The simple fact that Watson has changed formation due to this lad says everything.

Morley is in solo charge of us for the time being and could be for a while. Looks as if Jonno is in a bad way in Hospital with Covid.

That's not good I hope he pulls round. Good bloke had a bit of friendly exchange of words with him in his Salford days.

Away fans.... Sorry. This is really poor and I hope it gets sorted and changed.
Even worse for you guys. Most expensive season tickets in the league according to below and now they're taking away the best food.

How the hell do spennymoor get so little at home when a season ticket is £130 for the season, won’t even pay Taylor’s wage with the amount they sell.

All paid for by the bank of uncle Brad. I mean credit to him he's funded a good side and some great ground improvement for them. They once tried crowd funding to replace the seats in the main stand. They only needed a few grand but the crowd funding mysteriously disappeared after a week or so with the total raised at £250. But that's what Spennymoor fans are/want... all the success at none of the cost.

Thanks pal.

It's really shook us, I've genuinely never known someone who has connected to our fanbase like him before, we love him.

Latest news is that he has covid pneumonia after he was rushed to hospital due to his kidneys failing. Thankfully he seems on the mend though.

Big thanks also to Wrexham fans for all the kind well wishes on their forum. Fantastic that.

Really hope he pulls through and back to his normal self ASAP. Had a properly fun rivalry with Bern and Jonno since their Salford days. Both absolute competitors when it comes to their teams but both seem like absolute genuine blokes off the pitch. Hope for him and his family's sake he's back to normal soon.

Great news that he’s on the mend. I follow him on Twitter after watching the Salford programme. Seems a top guy

Our supporters are secretly chipping in for Glenn Taylor's wages.

His wages will be astronomical playing for the Pitchforkers, as well as his teacher's job he'll be pretty much content I would imagine.

the Curzon deal is ridiculously simple and well done I sorted wish Carlisle had done it.

very cheap but ignoring the cheap the way it uses the now online ticket set-up to give you option of paying £100 now for all games or just giving a discount code so each game is set at the same season ticket price pretty much but done game on game with ability to not pay if unable to go.

would entice them people unable to do midweek to buy season tickets

We beat a Coventry U-23 side 4-1 at Meadow Park on Saturday. The most eye-brow raising highlight being Leon Clarke, formerly of Sheffield United, Wednesday, Coventry etc came on for us in the second half...Hell of a signing if we pull that one off. Jordan Young could be a star this season, the lad is absolute quality and far too good for this level. We've got a lad from Swansea on trial who looks superb too, hope he's signed. Hoping we'll announce some of the trialists this week, add 3 in particular and I reckon we'll be right up there again.

Very pleased with the season long loan signing g of Millenic Alli from Stockport, will be a very good addition to our squad, and certainly one we needed.

You better hope he scores 50 goals then because Cassidy will struggle to get 3 all season, awful striker.
Most York fans looked out for your scores last season because maguire had massive potentia, this season it will be to see if Cassidy even starts.

York fans what is going on with your stadium? Why is there a reduced capacity for the opening game. Surely you'd have organised more friendlies there to qualify for a test event and it wouldn't have run into the new season.

It’s a joke the place holds 8500 but then again York council are involved.
We were meant to hold 4 events in which they have.
1 open day for fans and 3 matches at 2000 capacity of which they met.
Also York Knights rugby must of had 10 matches already there.

Seems like its going to be a free for fall for tickets. 200 for us but doesn't seem to be anything stopping York fans buying away tickets.

Yes it’s an absolute farce, been mentioned on our forum about buying away tickets.
First game at new stadium should of been a sell out.Lot of fans from all over country have booked train tickets already.
Plus the results in pre season has got a lot more interest.
Club have already sold hospitality tickets and a note on club website today saying anybody who buys a season ticket this week might not gain entry.
To make it even worse rugby are at home today and Leeds Utd played Villarreal last night there, surely they could count.
York council are 8 years late with completion date and can’t even arrange safety certificate,

Ok who is excited for the new NLN campaign? First National North action in front of a crowd for 518 days on Saturday.

Alfreton start with a long trek with Blyth looking for an important early win.
We have made some very astute signings. Its just whether Billy Heath is man to the get the best out of them...

Despite a fairly awful pre-season, I still can't wait to be on the terraces to watch us take on Telford. Could all go wrong come Saturday tea time cause we're definitely still a couple of players short but as they say it's the hope that kills you. More just looking forward to watching football that I actually care about.
