Darlo fans we've just signed Jack Lambert, I remember you guys raving about him. What sort of player is he? He's got a very good goalscoring record last season.

He was phenomenal the first 4/5 months of the season. Tailed off massively after January and was a huge disappointment the 2nd half of the season for me personally.

The smell of sour grapes in the morning. Lambert was easily our most talented player last season, and his injury for last couple of months of season effectively killed our play off hopes. 16 goals, 14 assists. Very few get near those returns, especially missing 2 months or so. Good luck to the lad.

Brackley sign Dan Turner from Leamington. Always scores goals at this level. Good bit of business

I hope so. We've had 2 strikers who score well together in the grand total of 1 season out of the 17 I've been watching them. Signed Danny Newton too - difficult to know if he's a valid option or one of the many many slightly/largely over the hill strikers we've gathered over the years

"He's shite" is my trademark message board comment regarding any player leaving Darlo over the past 2 decades.

No sour grapes here, just a tongue stuck in my cheek.

He is shite, though.

Now he *is* shite..

Obviously he will score against us, but he looked out of his depth at this level when playing for us.

Calum Roberts to Scunthorpe? What happened to him? Should be a level above, but must be a reason he's dropping down the leagues.
He's pretty injury prone and I imagine he's getting paid quite a nice amount, most likely the highest paid player in the league

Darlo fans. Alfreton have signed Declan Howe. What is he like?
Can't answer that one but Ryan Taylor should be a very good signing at this level. Don't expect him to score loads or even frequently venture into the box but if you've got attacking players on the front foot playing off him you've got yourselves a great foil for them. Great touch and holdup play, fantastic at bringing others into play. Just not up to the rigours of League 2 anymore. Think he could have done another season at NL level personally.

Some more ins and out at Gloucester.

Jamie Reckord signed from Yeovil. Decent pedigree, played most of his career far higher. Also seems to signal that Owen Evans is probably on his way out, apparently he's gone silent on the club. Poor behaviour, considering he spent most of the season as a sub! Another young local lad was signed (Harry Emmett). Forward, don't know much at all but Stuart Fleetwood recommend him.

Heading out...Ben Morgan apparently asked for a massive wage hike. Not given, he's not signed anywhere but won't be returning. Didn't work out last time he did that at Yeovil.

Tope Obadeyi signed for Banbury. Frustrating player, but improved as the season went on and scored that worldie against Chorley to get us into the play offs.

Victor Nirenold gone to Nuneaton. Honestly didn't think he did much. Likewise Tommy O'Sullivan has announced he's leaving. Had a woeful season, not a single goal but plenty of suspensions and injuries.

Dom McHale also won't be returning. He's Manchester based and the club won't pay expenses etc. He struggled with an injury and missed the tail end of the season but when he's on his game he's one of the best players in this league. Be interesting to see where he ends up.

Checked the Chester forum tracking signings. We've only signed one from Cinderford (Emmett). Miles came from Stratford (was on loan at Cinderford). Nobody else

Tommy O'Sullivan joins Brackley. Enjoy his pointless backwards passes and dreadful floating set pieces straight to the keeper!

Cheers... can't see how people get stronger by just recycling the same players around the NL Midlands clubs...

We've signed Marcus Carver on loan for the season from Scunthorpe, apparently with no recall clause. I'm sure Scunthorpe fans will not mind him being off the wage bill to some extent, but our record with him on loan last season was played 8, won 6, lost 2 (without him played 38, won 7, drew 11, lost 20). His resigning for us is potentially huge.

Jack James signs for St Albans. Absolutely injury plagued for us, but was effective enough when he did play. Should do a good job in the south.

Such a strange move for us.

We signed him on a 2 year deal, barely played him and loaned him out to you.

We've now loaned him out again until the end of his contract.

He'd be our 3rd choice striker but I still have no idea how good he is.

Quakers sign 23-year-old striker Mitchell Curry from USL championship side Hartford Athletic.

I'd be over the moon if he was half as good as the brilliant 'David Currie, also formerly with Middlesbrough!

Anyone feeling at a loss during the off season…

Not much happening at Chorley despite the takeover

Ben Nugent goes abroad and joins a team in Cambodia. Liability for us in the end, so no loss imo.

Meanwhile we've added Elliott Durrell. We only have two defenders on the books at the moment so hoping for some signings there soon!

Anyone up for doing a top 7 prediction?

The rules are that Darlo have to be in it even if it's not realistic.

well, basically my prediction for FCFC last season was about right (not blowing my trumpet folks!)
THIS coming season - genuinely who knows. Virtually a whole new squad and management (plus being first timers in these roles) means we really have no idea what to expect at Throstle Nest. could be bottom, could be top 6-7. :dk:
