We do not look as strong at the back or as stable as last season so far but the front 3 on paper can all be extremely dangerous it just hasn’t fully clicked yet.

I still say as mentioned Monday we defend so much better when we push on the other side and close down in their half, but our attack is suited to the counter so we have to let other side come at us then break.
I see Michael Afuye is with Curzon now.

Played for us at the start of last season - we signed him from Avro after a trial. Not quite good enough for The National League, and we eventually let him go out on loan after we signed a couple more players (to Guiseley or Farsley, can't remember exactly), but he worked hard, showed some promise and I hope he does well for you.

Excellent back and forth game so far with both sides having a good go. Scunny have had two good chances to score and we have had 3 good chances.

At moment could go either way but the full time to part time aspect may help as game goes on with both working hard.

We are though playing some interesting attacks with flicks and twists we tried that a year ago with mahon and it did well, one may sneak through.

We look absolutely awful right now, something about Curzon just seems to make us play terribly

Given the ball away so many times and should be losing

Didn't deserve the win but we got it. That's away wins at Brackley, Curzon and South Shields now, three places we lost at last year.

Jimmy Spencer really let Curzon down tonight. Was more interested in moaning to the ref and trying to get our players sent off then he was playing striker. You can't get rattled like that as the captain.

Well threw everything and the kitchen sink at that just one of them games good chances just didn’t go into the net, Scunthorpe dug in real well at times and threw everything into holding the lead.

One downfall we have sadly is we don’t have a good attack alternative than the big man in centre and two supporting forwards once it got to 75 minutes and Scunny had ridden a wave of attacks we didn’t really have anything else to chuck at them.

Good enjoyable game though, we just need to sort our attack out we play so well and individually they can all be so dangerous but it isn’t clicking as a unit up front

It’s always a hard game for Spencer too isolated if we can get the front 3 clicking top 7 should be there it isn’t quite working yet

We'll take that point with a very makeshift team including two wing backs in a back three, no actual striker starting and Hemmings getting sent off too.

Does the NLN still apply the 7 day break rule for suspensions so Hemmings would still be available on Saturday?

Delighted to have beaten Brackley away tonight, never easy there but we got 2 penalties and Jack Sampson made no mistake with either. Looking forward now to Kidderminster at home on Saturday, should be a decent attendance for that.
And to answer Andy Harrier, yes Hemmings will be available for Saturday, unfortunately.

I was as surprised as anyone re Clayton D last night. Sounds an odd do, that. The statement is vague- not clear if it's a sacking/parting of ways/resignation to go for another job. A bigger surprise really was Danny Ellis going too- a real hero for the celts. I WOULD SAY reading between the lines that maybe they were angling for another job and the club got wind of it. Hence the 'holding onto their player registrations' bit- so whoever it is will have to buy them off us.

Yes, we have had a pretty good start again this season, especially with the 'all games away' thing. We have a far bigger squad than in the last couple of seasons, so that may help OR be the cause of the issue. Maybe the club want to jettison a few who arent playing, and the management dug their heels in?
Slightly disappointed with a draw tonight having led in the game. But I'd possibly have taken a point at 7.30 pm, especially with the disruption going on off the pitch.

This season's new boys are struggling, in the main. Needham & marine seem a bit toothless, oxford ditto dropping in with us. More of a surprise is radcliffe. I saw them last season & had them down as a play off side in 24-25. They have started badly and although it's early days, it will take some recovering from them, to do anything like what I expected. Is theirs a money issue? With Kevin Campbell passing away, has the money tap been turned off?

Fedora- never heard of this Afuye fella so he must have been at the pram-makers last season in the NPL.

Surprised by Buxton's bipolar start, won the first 3 and lost the next 4.

A lot of money being pumped in with them going full time on small crowds, their manager must be under pressure.

Brackley the same, their manager has got to be under pressure considering they were one of the title favourites.

I think needham will be fine, from fans here who have seen them no one said they were a poor side, quite the opposite but they lacked going forward but they give teams a game and it just needs them to improve in the attack areas they will be fine.

Radcliffe and Buxton are surprising, especially Radcliffe who for all their talk have spent big, but maybe the style of their managers just doesn’t work here anymore.

I think 6 of the last 8 winners have been full time sides, so my money would always be on them.

PS does anyone know what's happened to Shepherd Murombedzi. Signed on again as our key midfielder and then seems to have 'disappeared'. Our updates are so flaky that players can move on and there's no update... but he's been such a good servant for him to be 'ghosted' seems odd.

Erm... This is what's happened..

Tre Mitford used to play for us too.

Genuinelly sad - Shep really seemed a lovely guy. Even gave me a hug when he scores a goal one time.

Bugger.

I've always wanted us to sign Shepherd. Every single time we've played against him he's stood out.

One of those days for us today, on another day we've have scored 6 or 7.

Warrington did battle very hard to their credit, always throwing their bodies in the way of shots. Keeper was excellent too making countless saves to keep them in it

Disappointing 0-0 for Darlo at Marine. Their keeper did keep them in it with a string of good saves but overall not including this match where we were unlucky, I have to say we aren't looking capable of hitting a barn door this season.

On the other hand, we're very good defensively and have now kept 5 clean sheets in a row, so when you have that solid base you always have hope. We need the likes of Salkeld back to playing like the 2nd half of last season and Main back fully fit, that'll help.

As comfortable a 1-0 win as you will get with Shields not managing a single shot on target all game.
We hit both posts and the bar in a totally one sided second half but we were never in danger of dropping any points.

Yeah, crazy how we didn't put another 3 or 4 goals in, the one that hit both posts and rolled across the line defied belief. South Shields weren't bad to be fair but missed Blackett, did ok in the first half but we tore in to them after the break.

Loads of good performances, love how Bainbridge is becoming a proper fans favourite given the fairly low expectations from when he signed.

Terrific 3 points today on the back of the win at Brackley on Tuesday. Kidderminster looked excellent and we're well on top for the first 30 minutes taking thr lead in the 9th minute. We slowly started to get back in the game and equalised fro our first corner in the 45th minute. Second half was more even and 10 minutes in we went ahead, again following a pin point cross from a corner. It was a bit of a battle to keep them out but we put bodies on the line and secured the points.

Yes Shields got away lightly today. Could have been 3 or 4-0. Although not perfect, the ref today was half decent as we've had a run of total incompetents until today.

Awful first half for us today against Radcliffe, it was the footballing equivalent of urinating on your own shoes. Second half we actually played the ball forwards, got back into the game and could have won it at the end.

What annoys me is we play 5 at the back and have the second worst defensive record in the league, and out manager doesn't seem to want to acknowledge that

I heard Bentley after your game with Chorley and he was quite scathing of the defending of balls in to the box. I’m only looking in from a far distance but surprised you got rid of Anson.

A very good solid away win at kings lynn and thought we may struggle having two full time teams in 4 days especially after the performance midweek but seems very simple away win.

Two big positives also firstly Stephan Mols scored who hit a lot of goals for us last season but struggled this so that will be good for confidence and also that another goal for Buckley ricketts, he’s starting to click now (our no.7) and for me when he clicks he’s possibly the best player in this division and can tear teams to bits, but he’s struggled to settle into our style but it’s been getting there the last 3 games.

If we could get Spencer, Mols and Buckley ricketts to click and hit form I can see a title challenge but it hasn’t got there just yet.

Anson was a difficult one to call. Great central defender who could play a bit too, but missed a lot of games through injuries, and was part of the overall piss-poor defence we've had over the last few seasons. Most fans were surprised when we released him, and even more surprised when he joined those cloggers at Alfreton! There has since been some bad blood on social media between him and our assistant manager, so something may have gone on behind the scenes.
