When I saw them win promotion from the Ryman League Premier in 2010, I reckoned that their natural level was at best lower midtable in Step 3, so it was quite a surprise to see them not only in the promotion race but actually go up and survive quite comfortably in the Conference South.

Is it accurate to say that money was already being pumped into the club? Without that extra investment would they have remained where they were or lower?

No way BW are paying those low wages.

They took Tom Champion from Cambridge, Scott Doe from Dagenham, Stevens from Barnet and then throw in the front three etc.

They're also FT. You can't run a FT Club on £200k wages.

They also took Andrade, Ricketts and Murtagh from us by offering bigger wages and 2 year contracts. Even our wage bill is quite a bit higher than £200k.

I have always assumed that B-Wood are ridiculously bankrolled, probably to a greater extent than FGR and Fylde.

However, I had a look at their accounts for last season and their total wage cost was £197,000. I don't know if there is some creative accountancy going on, but if their budget for this season was anywhere near that, it is indeed incredible that they have got this far.

Either way, I think Garrard is a good manager.

I had a look at their accounts too. Not sure what the mystery £1M donation was...

Meanwhile, the man selected to referee Boreham Wood into the football league is Neil Hair. I can’t recall any reported disasters when he’s been in the middle for a Rovers game, but he did have a mare in the televised Sutton v Bromley match.

He's a grade 1 referee.

He's certainly a promising referee, tipped to be a FL official next season.

Unfortunately he didn't make the cut this year.

Ouch. This is the referee that tried to ref us out of the playoffs against Dover last season. Last time we had him was against Dagenham and despite us winning he was still useless!

The Wembley ticket portal defaults to selling 1 ticket in the Boreham Wood end - you have to manually adjust it - and a few of ours have been caught out by this. I presume it's a tactic to make the BW attendance stats more presentable...

Well done Boreham Wood and Tranmere. Should be a good final. Gotta keep that Andrade quiet, easier said than done though

Youre right, very good player. However I hope we don’t focus on him. Rather we just played our own game, we always come unstuck when we edit it to suit the opposition.

It should be a good game. Tranmere should be too strong but Bwood are good enough on their day that the horrible prospect of them being a league team isn't that far fetched.

Scott Doe left us by mutual consent after a personal issue. He would have taken what was offered after it was found he could not sign for Billericay. We took 15,000 to Wembley for league two play off final so reckon wood will take more than expected.

Is that why they have been on Twitter asking Arsenal fans to support them at Wembley? I don`t expect us to take as many as last year. We sold over 8000 up to yesterday afternoon but there has been problems with the Wembley Ticket hub since the tickets first went on sale much to the annoyance of many of our fans but that has now been sorted and I expect that figure to rise over the next few days (another 700 went in 2 hours last night when the site went back online) I know a lot of fans, including me and my mates, are waiting for more "side sections" to be made available as well as many more who are trying the ticket site today now it is ,supposedly, working properly. We are probably looking at around the 10 -11000 mark. I think Boreham Wood will take more than some think but we should still out number them 2 to 1 despite the huge difference in travel costs. I will be surprised if they have less than Forest Gump last year. We have fans coming in from all over the place including Australia, The Far East, America, Norway, Iceland etc plus a group of our good friends from FC Eindhoven in Holland. Just hoping the team turns up this time.

I saw that Sutton/Bromley game that Mr Hair reffed the other week and he truly had a total shocker. Surely that was a one off. I can`t remember him refereeing at Prenton Park to be honest and I have a good memory for the awful refs so if he has he could not have been that bad. He can`t be as bad as Peter "terrified of Paper planes " Wright who as usual was playing up to the cameras last Saturday especially with his "I`m going to abandon the match " announcement. Yeah like that was going to happen for a few bits of paper in front of the BT cameras.

Who's got which end? Block numbers would be useful.

The stewarding company I work for does one quadrant and they've had to cut back on the number of stewards needed (including me) due to poor sales.

We (Tranmere) have the west and have sold or are selling blocks 126-143

I’m torn...

Tranmere are a ‘proper’ club, with a decent ground and a club we have a minor rivalry with... they would bring a good following to Gigg Lane you’d imagine.

Boreham Wood are the opposite of everything above but it would be an interesting story, and would be a bit of a novelty to see such a small club in the FL... plus I’d be more confident picking up points over Boreham Wood than Tranmere... hmmm...

Honestly, think I’d rather have Boreham Wood just because it’s vaguely interesting having them in the FL...

I'd rather Tranmere go up, I'm not expecting Borehamwood to drop into obscurity, but Tranmere will always be a top side in the league with the fanbase and their budget

Do the business today Tranmere. You already let FGR into the league, letting Boreham Wood into it would be a sin.
Why?

I think Boreham Wood getting promoted today would be more intriguing for next season to see how they fare.

Surely Boreham Wood are more likely to flirt with relegation too whilst Tranmere could be quite formidable.

No matter how strong a side is I'll always want a local away day over a side that's miles away and on the outskirts of London. Boreham Wood just doesn't appeal to me apart from getting the tick should they get promoted, whereas Prenton Park is a popular away for our fans.

If Boreham Wood win today and are able to keep hold of their better players and manager, I would reckon they’d do better than Forest Green this season. If you want them to go up for the novelty factor that’s one thing, but think there’s a real danger of Bury ‘doing a Tranmere’ with successive relegations, whoever wins the play-offs.

Although it’s early to say, I can see us struggling again next season although we’ve managed to extend contracts of key players yesterday and (on paper) still have a decent spine to the team.

Regardless, surely Boreham Wood are more likely to struggle than Tranmere hence it would be in Bury’s best interests league table wise to hope Tranmere bottle it..

But on the other hand.. away day and atmosphere vs Tranmere is going to be much better than Boreham Wood.
