Got my tickets. Buzzing.

Glad it's Grimsby, under Bartlett no one can stop us, let alone a Hurst managed team. Will be great to FRY those fish at Wemmers. And then have another EPIC PITCH INVASION.

I might return Chrisblor's nice piccie he took for me after we've hammered the final nail into the operation promotion shambles.

No need for that, I've got another for you:

Less of the arrogance next year, yeah? It's unbecoming.

It's just #bantz mate. Take it as a compliment it to your club. People are bothered enough about them to slag them off.

In all seriousness any fan should be applauded for following their local team, whatever circumstances they find themselves in.

As for today, having been in your shoes I know how gutting it is. No doubt you'll be back next year in even better shape and the players who remain will be better for the experience.

I was thinking earlier about teams who have lost a play off Final. Quite regularly they seem to find themselves going up soon after. We are the obvious exceptions!

Again...you're forgetting Lincoln. 5 playoffs in a row in League 2, including 2 finals. No-one has a worse record than we do! We got out of the league shortly after, albeit the wrong way.

Congratulations to Grimsby - probably the best team i've seen this season. In both games you destroyed our defence in the 2nd half despite us being ahead. And in Bogle the best striker I have seen this season by a mile.

This. We've been here longer than that lot from the Wirral too. They can wait their bloody turn.
Yeah but it's the second time you've dropped out of the league,so that should increase your sentence down here. Though Rovers won't be going anywhere while Brabin remains in charge.

Well done to Grimsby on their promotion. I expect Forest Green will be in the mix at the top again next season

Congrats Grimsby, good to see a team back in the football league where they belong (plus means one less long away trip for us!)
Having seen both FGR and Grimsby in the last few weeks of the season, there was only ever going to be one winner today. FGR were so poor against us, whereas Grimsby were the best team I've seen this season.
I expect FGR will be up there again next season, but I'd be very concerned if I were a FGR fan that if you don't get into the league in the next 3 years, the money and support will dry up and you'll return back down to your natural level.

Okay no problem just keep going on. I follow my club home and away, have done before the money, and will do after the money.
Just chill out a bit, it's not fun to come on here to fuming messages about how we don't deserve to be up there ect.
I've wished Grimsby well, I've wished Cheltenham now, what more can I do?
Fair play Tom,
I have a lot of respect for those who support their local club. I must be hard for some to have someone else come and make it their own.
Sadly today showed how much FGR have moved from a successful local team to one mans plaything. I would be concerned as to whether the new ground will boost numbers having seen how much extra support was gained from a wembley appearance and arguably the biggest game in the clubs history. I say this as a fan of a club that has already moved at the owners behest and is struggling to maintain home support since the move.

As soon as Bogle scores against Braintree, we were as good as up. We all knew it. There wasn't a soul in Grimsby that didn't think we wouldn't win. There was absolutely no chance in hell we were bottling that one. We marched into Wembley singing we're on our way and we marched out still singing it. Unbelievable.

I've followed Town since my first game when I was 7 and I have never ever seen us win anything until now. What a fucking amazing feeling.

Cheers lads. Best of luck to everyone next season, would much like to see Wrexham and Lincoln join us up here soon enough.

Tranmere as well, hope to join you in the league after next season. Need more Lincolnshire clubs in the leagues.

Just back, shame I missed the FGR love-in on here.
Congratulations Grimsby, felt like you could have won by a fair few more. Mind, you did seem to have a little wobble after kmb pulled us back in it and I got my hopes up. Felt you largely bossed midfield and kept Frear out of it, though he's been out of sorts.

It wasn't even a foul as such, seeing as he wasn't even attempting to tackle. It was just utter shithousery for no reason.

Attendances, attendances, blah blah blah. Just a big load of silly waving over the number of balti pies some clubs sell in here. FGR have plenty about them to grumble about, but moaning about the size of their support just comes across as petty, immature and jealous. Can't knock the fans that travelled to support.

Chuffed to bits for Grimmers though, deserved it last year to be honest. Think they'll be a firm mid table bet next season - although how well Amond and Bogle cope with the better defences will play a huge part of any successes for them.

I've seen a number of people mention this Parkin incident, but I honestly don't recall it. Was it mentioned much by the commentators, can only assume it happened when I was getting a drink or something.

Parkin stamped on a players ankle after the ball had gone. Commentators said he was lucky the ref hadn't seen it.

I usually agree with your statement on slagging off attendances, but what it shows is that FGR does not have the potential to grow much bigger. How can they ever hope to be sustainable as a football club and not depend on Vince's money when they can't even get decent numbers for the biggest game in their history? We, a team renowned for shite support, took more to an FA Cup 3rd Round game at White Hart Lane.

It shows that they are in a false position in terms of their size and it also shows that if/when Vince does pull the plug, if they're lumbered with some of the alleged big contracts still to pay then they will be in a lot of trouble. And as much as I hate this current FGR, I have a lot of time for the old FGR and the fans who have supported them in those times. The ones who will be left to pick up the pieces.

It was definitely more than the 2000 some have said here but then we took more to Swindon in the cup a few years back and of course more to the old Wembley in the vase and trophy.
Do think DV should hold off on a new ground until we're filling the New Lawn, if we ever do. Core home support of 1800 as we have now should be enough to maintain our record as longest serving conference members, and wouldn't be sorry to see fewer big names. Chuck your money at the academy instead, Dale.

Completely agree - but then, if anything, isn't that more of a reason to pity FGR rather than hate them? No need for some of the comments made towards their fan base (although yes, a select few are successful trolls on here) as ultimately, what can they do? The attitudes of other fans towards them just reeks of jealousy and bitterness at their position.

Wow, felt like i aged about 30 years in that 2nd half, the euphoria at our end when Arnold finally wrapped it up is something i will never forget.
On the subject of FGR's number of fans, that photo B2TF posted is not a true refection as there were about the same amount in the side as well as behind the goal, so not great but not as few as that photo would make it appear.
Finally, i really hope ChrisFGR was on the coach that i saw one of our fans pull his pants down to after the game!

Credit to the one grimsby fan from stroud who caught the train with all us fgr lot!
The guy sat next to me was a Grimsby fan from your neck of the woods, he said he lives 8 miles from Forest Green and he despises you and all Dale Vince stands for, about 50 - 55 really skinny and quite thin on top, maybe the same guy?

Congratulations on going up - I'm glad it was you and Cheltenham - you were the only teams we didn't get any points from in our 1st season back in conference national - we'll piss the league next year now you 2 have gone ;)
