The top 8 in the national league would compete in league two. An idea would be to make the football league 5 leagues of 20 and have 100 clubs in total. Negative to that is, 3 less home games for football league clubs, which would stretch funds even further. So for that reason it will not happen.

Good idea of 20 team divisions. Quite a few pro’s
- no midweek away games
- more teams further away from the trap door.

the con’s
- less home income from missing four home games. A way around this would be to play 5 home mid week games against prem u21 teams. The funding would be from prem league based on paying a charge for each attendee at the game. Supporters would get free entry with the premier league paying the L2 club for every attendee. Points would be awarded just to L2 clubs for these games and contributed to the league table.

Each of the 80 EFL teams would be involved
Championship would play the top 5 EPL sides
L1 would play 6-10 EPL sides
L2 would play 11 -15 EPL sides
L3 would play 16-20 EPL sides

so each EPL u21’s would play 20 games in a season and earn their own points in their own league table.

The League cup would be just for the 80 clubs and the FL trophy would be scrapped.

The harsh reality is football isn’t about competition anymore, the actual sporting competition side of it died a while back, took a little longer to drift from top flight down but it long since has.

Your asking clubs there in L2 to maybe take a smaller pot of money or risk a greater chance of relegation out of it to expand the league below……….fat chance that is happening.

The clubs Down here need an extra 1 million worth of income so they can increase wages by another £2 million
