There must be a reason behind the scenes. You don’t pay six figures and then plan on not playing a striker who is clearly different from a Stead/Hemmings, and should (on paper) be a good combo up top.

Hindsight is the one thing all fans have over the manager / chairman. Some need to remember this, makes the whole Football thing a lot easier
Agree entirely as per my post.
To score the goals he did in a relegated side is a no brainer for a team who made the playoffs and you would expect 25 goals from him.

Out of interest seeing as we play County next week, what is going on with Dennis ?
Notice he is regularly sub at the moment.

Our fans were suicidal when our alleged 100k bid wasn't enough or our paltry wage offer.
Hindsight a great thing but maybe we have got away with one there ?

Like a lot of our players, didn’t start the season fit, and when I say not fit I don’t mean a bit of a groin strain but looking about a stone overweight.

Looks he might be better now, but Kewell doesn’t rate him. The money we’re paying out to players who aren’t in the team must be absolutely horrendous.

Agreed. If Hemmings and Dennis were requested by Nolan it’s his fault plain and simple. If Hardy suggested to the then manager and he said yes than he has to take some responsibility. I don’t know which played out although Youpies seems to have inside info on this.

Either way nobody predicted this outcome, circa £250k spent and very little return

Hemmings is a one in three striker, scored yesterday. If he scored all his chances he'd be in the Championship. In fairness to him it's taken til October to play him on the left where Stags fans said he should play.I

There were three actual defenders on the bench that he could’ve brought on rather than completely upset the balance in midfield - one of them Kewell actually signed himself!

Agree, he should have put a defender on rather than taking Hewitt out the middle. Nor do I like him blaming the players so much, although he did defend them after Bury, but the last thing we should be doing is thinking about sacking yet another manager.

So the main problem yesterday was removing Hewitt from the centre of the park? Would we have won if he’d stayed there?

I think so yeah - their equaliser came from a guy just wandering through the huge pocket of space that had appeared in our midfield, and the winner from Vaughan playing a horrible pass on the edge of our own box.

You would have won if you’d taken a couple of the chances you had in the first half.

That’s the reason why most of us are in the basement.

Or the numerous missed (good) chances at the other end. At 2-0, totally different game before any of that happened

To be fair looking at the highlights, for the goal you refer to, you were breaking (presumably with numbers) and our midfielder Smith put in a great tackle around the half way line running back, which put you on the back foot straight away, hence the space. You were just unfortunate that it was our most creative player who waltzed forward and scored with his weak foot.

The second goal was clearly a total fluke, Matt Taylor just whacked the ball in and it flew in off the unlucky defender.

Massive win for Brown, pretty much saved his job I reckon.

After we held on with 10 men away to Swindon with little bother I assumed that county would win.

When hemmings scores - as regular as sightings of Halley’s Comet - you thought it would be home win, apparently not.

GIven Swindon have been under pressure under brown, that’s a good win.

Hmm, 19 league goals in a calendar year is probably slightly more frequent than sightings of Halley's comment, but there you go. That is obviously from a staggering 114 chances though (based on claims from up the A60 that he scores 1 in 6). I'm still pretty happy with him, as are most fans (and especially given he has one more league goal this year than the £5k per week Tyler Walker) - if we sorted out what was going on behind him he'd have earned us some points this season.

Anyway, just watched the extended highlights, one of them isn't it. As said above, at 2-0 it's probably game over, but if you don't kill teams off there is always the chance it will come back to bite you. Payback from Swindon for our relegation six-pointer win back in 2011 when it was us who came from 1 down late on to claim a 1-2 win!

Caps a pretty frustrating week, with the contentious defeat at MK Dons too. Should have had 4 points at the very least from those 2, but left with none. Hopefully Kewell will have learned a few lessons from Saturday and we'll see a reaction at Vale Park.

If that does indeed happen, we won’t be the first Nottinghamshire professional team to play there. Damn you Mansfield Town, you lot have already won that race#stain

I’m hoping we don’t have to go thru it in the first place. That’s always the best option, jus sayin.

Could you get the results from the Blue Square out in Spain?

Oh I didn’t realise you could watch all Mansfield’s matches when you were operating in the Blue Square Premier, I thought it was a more recent offering. My mistake . I bet you loved watching Mansfield vs Hayes and Yeading :bg:

Not a fan of Walker at all, he is actually nearly as bad as Hemmings - though he's still young. Not a smart signing on our behalf so far. Still, it could be worse...
