Hello there!

First off, I just wanted to introduce myself here. I figured this would be a good place to introduce myself, because part of what I have to say is football related. I am a newer football fan who lives in Tennessee. I say that I'm "newer" because I am still learning about football. Most of my experience really just comes from playing Fifa off and on over the years. For some reason though, this year is the first year that I've felt like becoming more serious about it. There is still a lot I'm learning about the rules and the terminology really. I did play when I was younger, but I didn't stick with it in favor of other sports like basketball, American football, and track & field.

I'm also still learning about the different leagues across the world. I've become mostly interested in the leagues of England. I could start watching football clubs here in America, but I'm just not as drawn to them as I am to English football clubs. To me there is just something special about the English leagues. The history, the amount of leagues and clubs, the stories, the players.

I currently don't have a club that I support and I'm looking to change that. However, I feel this is the first time in my life that I've had to develop a love for a sports team. The only team I've ever cared about was my local team. I follow closely the American football and basketball team of the University of Tennessee. I was born into it. I much prefer the college sports here, rather than the pros. It just feels like the college teams play for something more. Here in the south, we have the South Eastern Conference, which is one of the strongest conferences in American football in particular. It's practically a religion for us.

As I said, this will be the first time that I've ever had to develop a love for certain sports team. How does someone go about doing that? How do I find which club speaks to me?

I feel like I would end up being more interested in teams outside of the premier league. I'm sure those teams are great, but I like the smaller clubs. I don't want to end up becoming just some bandwagon fan who hops around to the latest flavor of the month. I like the idea of a club who is battling for promotions. (Even though I'm still learning about relegation/promotion as an idea.)

Can someone help me out? Where should I start? Is there a good source of information for the different clubs, maybe good videos about the history of some of the different clubs?

Also, I want to hear from you. Why do you support the club that you do? What started it all for you?

Welcome .
I've been a Liverpool fan since 2005, got hooked after the Miracle Of Istanbul, been a die-hard LFC fan ever since.

You'll forgive if I don't know what the 'Miracle of Istanbul' is. However, I'll look into right now and see what it's all about. Is that when you got into the sport as well? Been trying my best just to learn some of the different clubs history. I would say that Liverpool as a place is probably one of those cities that, apart from London, I probably know the most about. I like how it was romanticized, so to speak, by some of The Beatles songs. I'd really love to visit England one day and go see some matches.

What was it about their run in the cup that got you hooked? Had you been following them before? I do enjoy a good comeback win or underdog.

I've been a Wimbledon supporter for the last 35 years. I moved near the ground and popped along for the occasional match then we won the FA Cup that season which sealed it for me.

I didn't make many matches as I was raising a family and then my marriage broke up but my parents and some friends were very good about babysitting on an occasional basis so I could go to Plough Lane and then Selhurst Park when we were groundsharing there.

I took a break in the late 90's as I remarried and had another child and hadn't returned by the time the Milton Keynes move was approved. My first AFC Wimbledon match was about a month into the first season and I loved it and so did my then 12 year daughter who still supports the club although she now lives a few hundred miles away in Scotland.

AFC Wimbledon has been a massive part of my life and I've volunteered in a number of roles over the years including taking a qualification in crowd safety and working as a matchday steward. I'm now a volunteer programme seller.

The club started in step 8 of the football pyramid (now step 9) and we've had 6 promotions and one relegation in the last 20 years and we currently play in League 2 (step 4).

We're not in a good place at the moment having suffered a needless (in many folk's opinion) relegation with a poor start to this season and so much infighting due to performance and finance issues. Would I support any other team? Well, Sutton United are my second team but losing to them last weekend hurt, Big time.

The way and manner that the EPIC comeback was orchestrated gives me goose bumps till today.

Plus it was a major European Cup Final, nobody gave Liverpool any chance at half time.
