The two early favourites for the job are Steve Cotterill and Grant McCann. I would quite like Cotterill and not so much McCann. I love the man but don’t think he’s a very good manager.

Cotterill would be fine as long as you binned him off immediately if you were promoted.

I'd have Alexander here at Bury! I reckon he's the sort of man than Day would like too.

Our chairman has confirmed interest in Steve Cotterill and Steve McClaren.

Both would be quite good appointments imo.

When has McClaren managed at this level? Would be a shocking appointment. I’d be going for Nigel Clough or Nathan Jones at Luton.

Yeah appointing someone who has never managed at this level before would be idiotic. When did Nathan Jones manage at this level again?

Please may I recommend to our friends at Scunthorpe the one and only Russell Slade, did a sterling job for us here and hopefully if you appoint him he will do just as good a job for you guys. :2thumb:

McClaren won’t drop to L1, Nathan Jones wouldn’t leave Luton for Scunthorpe. Personally I think Rosler would be a shrewd choice if he’d be willing to work that far away from the NW. Notoriously strong short term manager which is what you need right now. I reckon he’s Bury bound in the summer mind if they throw enough money at him.

Can’t believe Alexander got the boot. Barely out of the playoffs in 2 seasons.

Realistically what do Scunthorpe fans expect of their club?

They’ve got some cash behind them for sure. A surprising amount as we found out in the summer.

Would have gone for Grayson until Bradford went in for him. Who else is there? Maybe wait for Paul Hurst if Shrewsbury don’t go up. I like the look of Kewell at Crawley as well.

Our positions in the league over the past two seasonsseems to completely cover up the massive issues that we had under Alexander.

We shot to the top of the league last season riding an incredible wave of form by Josh Morris. He was far and away the most in form player in the league until January, after his form fell off so did we. We were top going into January but Alexanders refusal to sign any sort of CB back up massively impacted us. His also insisted that we played Stephen Dawson (a very slow CM) on the right wing rather than our talented wingers Duane Holmes and Hakeeb Adelakun. This never changed despite a slump in form and a massively lop sided midfield. We then fell completely off form and looked like we were going to fall out of the play-offs. We then went on a run of form mostly beating terrible (some already relegated) sides and got 3rd. His team selection and tactics against Millwall in the home play off leg were absolutely shocking and seemed to admit defeat before we even stepped foot on the pitch.

This season has been pretty terrible even if we are 5th. Alexander decided to sign wasters on big money like Rory McArdle and Lee Novak. Two players who completely look past it and are costing the club a lot of money. His refusal to play players in the correct position is what infuriates fans the most. Murray Wallace, who is a fantastic CB has been pushed out to LB despite the fact we have Connor Townsend on the bench who is a great LB. It has been suggested that he has fallen out with Connor Townsend and pretty much expelled him from the starting 11. Look at our game against Rochdale at the weekend. We have our best RB and LB sat on the bench while a CB starts at LB and a CM at RB. It's schoolboy errors. Our form since November has been shocking. We've won 3 times since then. 1 win in 14 games. Our chairman put it best when he said he couldn't see where the next win was going to come from. Neither could we.

Alexander will also be very well thought off here but it was time for a change.

Neither of those muppets will be coming to us. Reckon it will be Paul Hurst or Nigel Clough

I'd expect Hurst to be managing in the Championship next season one way or another.

What on earth makes you think Hurst would want to go to Scunthorpe lol......when he eventually moves on it will be to a bigger club (the only exception possibly being Rotherham).

Isn't Hurst from Sheffield, is he blue or red?
