Thought those of you who have had to suffer in the worst away section in the division might like to see how things are shaping up at the new ground. The permanent West stand holds 4,500 with "semi-permanent" smaller stands on the other 3 sides. These aren't like the gazebo behind the goal at Bristol Rovers or Gillingham's scaffolding - they'll be good for decades until we need/can afford to redevelop those sides. Away fans will get the whole South stand which will hold around 1,200 and is the same design as the North stand shown under construction in the video - although the latter also includes around 400 safe standing spaces which you won't get in the away end. On track at the moment for opening in October with a capacity of around 9,000, rising to 20,000 if we ever get the whole thing built.

Looking good and glad you’re finally going home at last, but what’s that massive wall behind one of the ends?

What's happening with Kingsmeadow?

That's one of the blocks of flats. Wouldn't fancy living in one of those with no windows to the back but, being South London, people will pay stupid money for them. If we redevelop that end then most of that wall will be hidden. The semi-permanent stand does look tiny next to it but actually has more rows of seats than the main stand at Kingsmeadow did.

Chelsea bought it for their women's team. Nobody seems to know where we'll start home matches but there is an unconfirmed rumour that we might get a couple of months there.

No, they moved out 3 years ago when Chelsea bought it on the basis that it was too big for them. We've technically been tenants there ourselves for the last couple of years. Kingstonian got about £1 million from us as a donation when we sold it, which was meant to help them find a new ground, but whether they still have that money or how they're going to use it I don't know.

That drone footage was appalling. My phone has a panorama setting that would have been better quality and less nauseating.

Surprised you’ve only gone for a 1200 capacity away stand. I’m sure you will be a popular away day being in London, and a lot of teams could probably take double that at this level. (Not us 1200 will be more than enough)

I agree! They do it for free and a bit of publicity, though how many people will think "must use those guys" after seeing it is debatable.

I love it, personally. In fact I love the Mem full stop. Dying breed of ground unfortunately.

I agree, but it's to do with practicalities of segregation (that stand is completely sealed off from the rest of the ground) and what we can afford at the moment. The full build would give around 2,500 away fans in there.

I'd also be consumed by bitterness and anger corroding my very soul if I were you. But £3K a week for Woodyard? I don't usually LOL, but megaLOL.

Still better then the new Brentford "Community" Stadium thingy to happen

What's happening with that? Same builders as ours so not sure why they've had to stop work. Maybe just a question of scale.

They had to stop at the start of lockdown, but work started back up pretty quickly. Supposedly getting the keys in the next couple of weeks.

Why are you talking like it is an upgrade? It has no atmosphere, it is just a poor mans White Hart Lane. Griffin Park is fun to go to, great atmosphere.

Please take him off our threads in the Non-League section. No one has a clue what he’s going on about.

The non-league section is everything but pro-football. So i can talk about my 4-3 winning goal aginst SV Geinoord from wednesday in a friendly.

It is my opinion, i did not get it from the toilet.
