Good point from Jared - both Speed & Coleman were met with disgruntlement. I suppose if knobby Giggs is gonna make it as a manager he'll have to do the biz so we'll be content enough - and if he doesn't then at least we get to laugh at him for failing.

Whilst a bulk of the Welsh starting 11 tends to come from the PL, there's usually plenty in the squad, and their youth categories, from lower down - younger players on their way up. Giggs will need to push himself outside of his Premier League bubble when looking for players, or at least he'll need to trust someone on his staff to do that for him. If Giggs is just a figurehead to give a team talk, around whom an experienced coaching/scouting team is built - that's one thing. If he's the main man, given the whole remit and made largely individually responsible for the next X years of Welsh hopes - that's a monumental gamble.

Big gamble, but ironically I could see him having a better chance of keeping Ampadu and Brooks on board rather than switching to the dark side.

It seemed that Giggs viewed himself as being too good to work his way up through traditional managerial means by earning his stripes in the Championship or below and expected to walk into a decent top flight job, despite having bugger all experience to back that up. As such it was never going to happen so this is arguably the next best thing, cut his teeth internationally and if he does well a domestic team of note might take notice. I doubt it though, international management and domestic management are two completely different ball games.

On a side note I laughed with Alan Shearer last night when he pointed out that Giggs might have an issue getting certain players to turn up for friendlies given that he himself didn't play a single one for 9 years straight. And Wales being a 'disorganised shower' doesn't excuse that. It always appeared to be a conscious decision made by both him and Fergie to me.
