Results from recent past at Newport:

L2: 2014/15
Tues 17 March 2015, Newport 1-0 Luton 2,536 (349). Last home league win at Dave. Home form in 2015 has been shit - only 3 wins so far.
Conf: 2012/13
Tues 11 December 2012, Newport 5-2 Luton 2,247 (211)
Conf: 2011/2012
Sat 26 November 2011, Newport 0-1 Luton 1,511 (235)
Conf: 2010/11
Fri 18 February 2011, Newport 1-1 Luton 2,834 (395)

Fancy 0-0 or 1-1. How many Lutoners making the trip to a wet and windy Casnewydd ? Better bring your waterproofs as you're gonna get soaked behind the goals if you fill the Bisley section. Weather forecast tomorrow is awful.

Wouldn't expect a big following due to general discontent amongst the fans. Away crowds are down on the last couple of seasons and the home gate on Tuesday was the lowest for a league game that I can recall for some time.

Players confidence likely to be on the floor after Tuesday and to be honest I've reached the point now where i simply do not think Still is going to turn this season around into a successful one. I think we'll pick up a point in a drab game only to be told its the beginning of the turnaround for the umpteenth time this season.

Think we'll win 1-0 to be honest. Dunno why.

We never seem to do well at these (ex) non league outposts in the North and West.

1 change from the team that lost 4-3 against Carlisle - Mark O'Brien is dropped from the 18 and replaced by Luke Wilkinson.

Newport 3-0 Luton

McBurnie with a debut hat-trick after coming on as a second half substitute. Bravo.

Deary me, the season is going absolutely nowhere.

Next couple of fixtures look pretty tricky as well.... could be rapidly reaching the end game for Still if we keep this up.

I think the end game has already come. Embarrassing result and simply not good enough.

7 goals shipped in 4 days.

Got to say I'm fully onboard with the "Still out" bandwagon now unfortunately.

Anyone able to persuade me otherwise?

No surprise this against a wobbly Luton side. Sheridan has made us tough to beat and a lot of people are saying we could be mid-table if we had a goal scorer. Step up McBurnie (19 years old Swansea loanee, banging them in for fun at under-21 level). Conditions were awful today. Kudos to the Luton fans who were out in the rain today. Results went our way as well.

Is John Still's job secure?

A debutant scoring 3 in 45 mins? Not to say it's not impressive but you just have to ask who was marking him then.

I think Luton's BOD are waiting to see if a half decent manager becomes available before sacking Still. I don't think there's anyone who stands out looking at those available atm.

Btw, forgetting the scoreline for a moment, how was Luton's performance?

You can always take Butcher he's available :cool1:

Excellent win and a stupendous debut from the bench for McBurnie.

Well, there's plenty of people who will apply for the job. Would be trying to get Ian Holloway be a little bit unrealistic?

Yeah, I was going to say Holloway and Clough look the best bet, though I think Clough is waiting for Forest to sack Freedman. Question is would they drop to L2 level though?

If we offered them £100,000 a year plus bonuses though I don't think it would matter.

To people who scoff at that salary, Mike Newell when he was here was on £416,000 a year when he left.

Thought I would check out Luton Outlaws for old times sake. I haven't looked since we were in the Conference.

Unsurprisingly there's not a lot of love for Still. It's worth a visit just for a giggle.

I'm sure Holloway is sending the club a copy of his c.v. this evening. It's probably the opportunity he's been waiting for.

Firstly I don't think Holloway would come to this level.

Secondly he isn't really what we need considering he doesn't really have a reputation or sorting out terrible defenses, which is what we have.

I'd prefer if we went with a younger manager with a fresh approach than the same old names that have been on the manager merry go round or years.

I agree with Baz that Terry Butcher would be a good manager for Luton if Still goes.

No just kidding, but seriously Still seems like he's finished, too old now and for a club of your size and potential you should be able to attract a better manager with new ideas.

Wow
Holloway going to Luton would be a perfect match for them.
Two things that Watford fans absolutely hate, he probably could do a job there though. I'd much prefer it if you stuck with John Still a bit longer though, it's providing a great deal of laughter down here in Hertfordshire.

I prefer this sort of abuse, as its genuine. Rather this than the typical Mansfield fans showing up for a quick giggle.

53-36 - that's all I'm saying.

A few rumours that Still has left the club now. Doesn't really fit with his post-match comments so I assume if true more of a sacked than quit type thing. Very sad if it's true as I properly loved him in the Conference season and hoped it would end on a brighter note than this, but it's definitely time to go now. The last 10-11 months have been little short of disastrous and we've thrown (apparently) huge amounts of money at it without any real sign of improving.

Trivia question - apart from Saturday, who was the last player to score a hat trick against Luton Town FC? (No cheating)

Give us a hint Kenny. Conference years or not?

edit - I have an idea who he is but I'll let the Luton fans guess first.

It wasn't a league game and it was prior to us being relegated.
