Horrible way for the season to come to and end for us, Might take me a few weeks to get over this one. Whatever Radford does over the coming days we'll back him like we have since day 1.

Well done Newport, Gutting watching you lot celebrate but at least you kept it in the stands and did it with your boys instead of goading the opposition. Would like to see you go up just for the simple reason that Tranmere is a weekend in Liverpool

Fuck football

Go on any social media post regarding Mansfield, any platform - and it’s full of Lincoln fans giving it big ‘un. I don’t know why either!

Could it be that Mansfield fans are the common denominator in all this ?

It’s obvious why Lincoln fans are giving it the big ‘un, for the vast majority of them this is the best they’ve ever had it as a Imps fan. Everything is coming up roses at present . Here and now and all that ;)

Why’s that?
First he had Evans and then Flitcroft trying it on and doing their best to get in his head, although the latter quietened down for the second league game when he realised it's a bit daft being how he was seen as you weren't even challenging us.

For the social media lot it probably stems from this post, which was widely shared (and laughed at, at the time because it was pretty obvious it wasn't going to happen). There were other similar, posts, too. It's just ironic.

And of course, the irony of the 'bottle' throwing last season as well.

Not that I generally get involved in any social media shenanigans. - our PO record doesn't hold up too well!

Main thing I took away (excluding the game) was how bad the commentary was - the 5th tier currently have much better coverage, plus the bonus of commentators that know a bit more about the players and sides involved. It's a complete joke how bad Sky's coverage of Leagues 1 and 2 is, commentators were clueless.
At least you don't have Adam Virgo pretending he knows everything about non league...

One post results in a obsession within a large section of the Lincoln fan base towards Mansfield? I did say it’s bizarre, how can you try and defend that sort of weird behaviour.

I’m all up for debating Flitcroft managerial skills, but on personal level all I hear is that he’s a top bloke, he came across really well the other week when the club did a video after he invited a fan with inoperable cancer to come and walk the team out.

Danny Cowley is a absolute shithouse on the touchline, carbon copy of Steve Evans we all know it - so why do stags fans generally view Lincoln indifferent?

The Lincoln lot need to try and forget about us, because we all know what Football does and that’s bite ya on the arse, and just because you are a level above us for the first time in years that doesn’t change. I personally hope Lincoln do well next season, after all Mansfield and Lincoln are two incredibly similar clubs historically.

As the above Stagsnet post shows.

I didn't say just one. There have been plenty over the last season or two but you know what the young'uns and social media are like nowadays! It''ll have been both sides no doubt to'ing and fro'ing over the course of the season.

Haven't read through the comment of yesterday's game so here's my twopenneth (if anyone cares!).

Yes I am pleased that Flitcroft and Carolyn Radford's 'project promotion' has failed but I will try and be neutral with my analysis.

I thought this was a bit of a game of 2 halves. Newport will have kicked themselves to not go in at half time with a lead missing a number of good chances. Mansfield looked like they had no answer, but to be fair to them they were much improved in the second half and like Newport in the first didn't take advantage of the many chances that they had. Extra time was a bit more even and you couldn't really call who was going to win. For that match, after 120 minutes to end goalless was, to me anyway, pretty staggering.

Penalties is a lottery, as is a ropey stream on a mobile phone, and mine cut off after the first round of penalties.

Well done to Newport for making the final, it was a wrench for me as I had £114 riding on Mansfield getting promoted, but have a dislike for Flitcroft and Futch. I also have nothing at all against Mansfield Town Football Club and their supporters and offer my condolence to their fans on here for losing out in a truly horrible way.

In fairness plenty of fans on stagsnet seem to think Flitcroft is a better manager than Cowley so just take the majority of what is said on there with a pinch of salt.

And that’s one of the many reasons if you aren’t a Stags fan why you don’t need to check out the Stagsnet forum.

Penalty shoot out is a cruel way to lose any match let alone a season defining play off game.

Stupid final paragraph that. No one to my knowledge has got personal about Flicker until that. From my knowledge he is a nice guy and is well liked. He just talks a lot of waffle and clearly finds it hard when the big games come around.

It wasn't entirely serious but point taken and I've removed the paragraph and happy to apologise if it caused offence.

If Darrell Clarke hadn't just taken the Walsall job I'd be firmly wanting us to replace DF with him but now he's not available I don't care. We might aswell stick

From a neutral looking in, given your position when DF came in last season and your budget this season, surely he has to go? There must be better managers available to you, if not free then to pay for. I'm not entirely sure if your demise happened last year because DF came in or if it was already in flow with Evans, but this year I fully expected you to smash the league with your squad (though I also had county down to do well).
