I think we’ll have a good season in and around the play-offs. We’ve been the strongest team in the second half of this season and I can’t see why we can’t carry that on. Can understand why some of our fans are cautious about the dismantling of the team over the summer but I don’t think we’re in for any more changes than most teams at this level.

Sticking my neck on my line and reckon Vale might hit at last a historic 50 points next season too.
hopefully with another 6 point donation from you lot.

I fancy orient next year. Salford too if they come up. They have the clout to invest and I think the battle at the bottom will be much tougher next time round.

Same too for those coming down. Some good teams heading our way, and I reckon bradford will pull it out of the hat and bounce straight back.

As for those in the middle of the table Swindon take my fancy for mounting a challenge. One of the better teams I've seen.

We have the capability of doing something but there are far too many variables off the field to say anything for definate. No manager and our key players are either loanees or out of contract. Only Edmondson is under contract, and he is attracting interest from the championship
It'll be interesting to see how it pans out if they do, because they'll need to be some serious money going in there just to pull them in line with the 55% rule.

I hope to predict the winners of L2, back to back big wins would be lovely.

Of course I will post my bets/predictions in advance unlike so many on here

We’ve the core of a good squad, but like everyone else, we will be on the lookout for 4-5 players to improve our first team enough to challenge top 3. In particular we need better full backs and a centre half who’s capable of marshalling the defence.

Pym will probably leave so will need a new ‘keeper. Suspect we will we will try to give Bowman some competition up top.

Midfield is strong, as are our wide attacking options. But, there’s a potential that Boateng could get snapped up which would mean another spot to fill.

In short, a busy summer ahead!

We need to make wholesale changes but we need to appoint a manager first. If we appoint our current caretaker we will go down again.

We know that Josh Morris and Funso Ojo will be leaving, their contracts are up and they don't want to play in League 2. I can see Byron Webster and Adam Hamill leaving as their contracts are up as well. Fingers crossed we will find a way out of the stupid contracts we gave to Rory McArdle and James Perch.

Would like to see us get Tony McMahon permanently from Oxford and give him the captains armband.

Too much work overhauling the squad to predict where we’ll finish right now, could be top 3, could equally be about 14th.

Love these threads, people make themselves look stupid come May. How can anyone say until August when everyone's squads have been sorted out.

I think it's going to be a tougher season than this, the teams coming down will do well, and if Salford come up they will splash the cash.
And there are teams here already that will do better such as Oldham and Crewe.

Assuming Newport win the playoffs, which I think they will, then I see Mansfield going for the title next season, with Oldham and Colchester following them up. Playoffs might look like Swindon, Exeter, Tranmere, and Bradford.

At the other end, I see Crawley and Macc dropping, with a revitalised Vale finishing somewhere around halfway. Whoever comes up from the NL should have enough to survive, but if its Salford I hope they drop back straight away.

Its all guesswork of course at this point as signings are to be made and retained lists are about to happen.

If Salford come up then they are far more likely to go straight up again rather than back down. Their budget probably surpasses most clubs in this division (not that I have any figures to support this).

Having had to suffer them all this season in the NL, Salford will just throw more money at it quickly - Last summer they bought a whole new team apart from one or two defenders.

They will fuck things up here like they did for most NL teams last season, because they literally have a bottomless pit of money in Peter Lim and once they're here, they won't just be limited to northern based players - The whole EFL will be open to them, players will want to go there because of the money and because of the love for the class of Nerdy2.

If they lose next Saturday, it will be funny yes, but it will only delay the inevitable sadly.

According to our owners we had a top ten budget this season. The problem we have next season is most of the shower who couldn't be arsed this season will still be here.

I honestly can't see anyone taking Poleon from us although Palmer is rumoured to be off. our back line and defensive midfield options are all a bit static and we have a lot of uninspiring back up players.

I think we need a two full backs, a starting centre back, a starting central midfielder and a complete rewrite of our forward options. This is not going to happen.

I see a season of struggle for us but Paul Haywood has shown up again and has said he is willing to plough some money in again. It seems he has been persuaded to look at our training facilities but who knows, maybe a couple of star players????

Its too early to say that Cambridge will struggle again IMO - we'll have a more competitive budget than the likes of Macc and Crawley and most of our squad are out of contract.

We also don't yet know the sort of impact Calderwood will have on recruitment (which has been incompetent in recent years).

We're a complete unknown at this point.
I agree though I am conditioned now to not expect much from the summer anymore. I’d love a summer like 2013 but just can’t see it sadly.

I'll take a midtable/top half finish with less home defeats and some progress off the field.

I’d love for this to happen of course but I can’t see it at all. I can’t see how we’re going to have a better squad than this year (and that’s not saying much). Decent loanees going back to parent clubs, Championship clubs in for better assets like Edmundson, important senior pros being let go like Clarke and worsening ST sales due to an (at best) incompetent owner resulting in a lower playing budget.

Unless some major change happens over summer, I really can’t see us finishing anywhere near the top which is thoroughly depressing.

That was hilarious when you took Poleon and Vincelot off us, can we interest you in one Josh Wright barely used?

Rumours were gonna appoint our current caretaker (who hasn't won a game) as our permanent manager. If we do that then put money on us to go down again.

I sincerely hope Salford don't come up. Not just because they're a vanity project with no fans who the media will masturbate over for 46 games solid and pretend they're some kind of Cinderella story when actually the fairy-tale that best describes them is Rumpelstiltskin (for the uninitiated, it's a cautionary tale about the perils of being able to magic gold out of thin air).

Mainly, I hope they don't come up because they will ruin everything. They're like a pisstake when you get bored of ChampMan and hack the database.

I don't want either Salford or the Flids to come up, but as they are in the final one of them will.

Grimsby Town FC will however have a fine season no matter who comes up with The Orient, expect us to be upper mid-table.

Without the shackles of Smurf we should start to improve, hoping now for a much better season than the last three.
