and yet still managed to score....

He's there basically because he wins every defensive header. He's only 21 and he's a massive unit, but he cannot run. You need a player alongside him with some pace and that ain't Henneghan.

Ched Evans, Adam Johnson.

Oh, have they not signed for Forest Green yet?

Evans will be in demand now, would be a top signing for us but can't see it.

Johnson wont get another club, his career is over.

Rhys Taylor on full contract
Jared Hodgkiss liked him at FGR, to good for Kiddie
Kenny Davis - Braintree
Stephen Payne - Dover
Ross Hannah - Chester
Nicky Clee - Alty
Tom Denton - North Ferriby - no massive talent but big target man and can score, be perfect with Jackson
Omar Beckles - Aldershot
I've gone for a mix of players, Denton a relative unkown scored a few in the national north this season, caused problems in FAT trophy final against us, wins headers, holds it up well. Payne/Davies unlikely but the other are realistic i'd say

I doubt we could afford Clee's wages. I've heard he's off to Manchester United in the summer as their marquee signing.

We're building a team back around the old principles that we used to stand for - plucking young, hungry players from the lower reaches and giving them a chance. We've already take Pennell from Dunstable and he's fitting in well, expect around 15/16 new additions over the summer from us as I reckon we'll be clearing out the majority of the current squad.

You know what you're getting with Still. Fast-paced, direct but attacking football.

Course I got the point of the thread, but really the best five players are going to be the best five additions to any squad...
And yeah, I could see our chairman stumping up a good chunk of cash for a "big" name like Bogle, who isn't an automatic pick at Grimsby. Not saying we will, just saying there's a small chance we could make a move for him.

Certainly none of us said we were going up, but I think many fans will be expecting a play-off push next season.
13 goals in 28 starts though. I would be surprised and pissed off if we let him go. He is obviously hasn't been favoured by Hurst for the entire season, but then neither has Amond which is crazy given the season he's had. Bogle has comfortably been our second most important striker. Can't see us letting him go elsewhere in the division personally. But yeah, you don't ask you don't get. If you've got money to sling around then he's a good option to go for.

You know what you're getting with Still. Fast-paced, direct but attacking football.
Wondering if Still will be in for any of his old players. Could see him going in for Andy Drury, think he's out of contract this summer. Would Benson be an option, believe he's out of contract as well?

Evans won't be in demand until his trial is out of the way. And if he's re-found guilty, nobody with any sense will go near him.

A competent CB with a bit of pace (any recommendations?)
New manager
New social media manager (or whatever they're called)
Have seen Southwell numerous times and definitely a very good finisher, but in a league full of giant defenders I fear he is not only miles too slow to outrun them he doesn't possess the trickery to get past them. Shame really as there are many less accomplished finishers in the league thats for sure

For it to be quashed must mean something though. Unlikely to be re-found guilty imo. After that why wouldn't clubs want him?

Like many people, I'm not sure you're fully aware of the process. It's not been quashed because he's "probably innocent", it's been quashed because not all evidence was looked at first time round. He's still on trial for rape - a totally new jury could still come to the same conclusion.

So is he not now technically innocent until proven guilty (even though he's already served his sentence)?

Lady Vale is starting it (one for the L2'ers of a few years back).

Was that the one where Loo'on fans threw a strop every time one of their players wasn't voted in the team of the season?

We have been in talks with a couple of top conference players who want to move up to the league according to Gary Johnson. Not sure who they are but don't be surprised if we sign a couple of talented players from sides who fail in the conference play offs. Elliot Frear has been mentioned on our fans forum a few times already.

Wouldn't shock me.

You might have your pick of our players the way things are going, Johnson would get a lot more out of them then Pennock can, and a lot of our players are getting disillusioned playing under him.

Dale Bennett and Charlie Clough are two more I could see joining you, both should be playing league football next season.

I was impressed with Clough and would welcome here. As I say no idea of names but yourselves and Grimsby seem the most likely clubs we would poach from.

Any chance of one or two of yours that are surplus coming here? We're going to need to rebuild if we don't go up, very few players under contract and none have heard anything about new contract offers apparently. Not sure what's going on.

Yes, technically correct, but what crimes would you take a player accused of and awaiting trial...?

Evans is such an emotive case. He's a talented footballer and if he gets found innocent then he's still going to be a pariah (rightly or wrongly). I can't say I'd be overly comfortable with him playing for my club in that circumstance, even though logically I should be fine with it. Being Welsh I'm not sure I'd ever want him to play for the national team again. Logically speaking you should also be fine with hiring him after his sentence is fully served too as he is deemed to have served his debt to society, but if he's found guilty again (and given the same sentence), would you still be OK with hiring him?

Probably not, no. Rapists are hard to like.

So would you be OK hiring him now and retaining him if he's convicted?

Hiring him now, if he's fully fit and keen to prove himself could be a masterstroke for someone, especially going into the play-offs.

If he's convicted again, get rid.

I would say unlikely. Gary said he intends to offer deals to pretty much all of them and he's been given a good budget to challenge for an automatic promotion place in league two so I would not have thought money would be an issue either. Of course some may not be happy in a bigger squad so may decide to look elsewhere though.

You're implying it is the case, but are you outright saying you would be happy if FGR signed Ched Evans for next season under the proviso that his contract is terminated if he is found guilty?

Also you couldn't sign him for the playoffs. There is a final registration deadline for the season for all players which has now passed. Only emergency signings ratified by the FA can be done outside of this. I certainly don't see the FA allowing any non-goalkeeper to sign up for playoffs let alone Evans specifically.

Dennis doesn't posses a tremendous amount of pace or trickery and he got plenty.

Benson has already hinted in local media that if Still made a move for him, he'd be more than happy to return to the club. Believe he's out of contract at Luton in the summer as well which makes it a formality. We've had a few ex-players return in recent years, and while Benno isn't as good as he was when he left (largely down to age), he'd still do a job. And more than that he'd stoke a feelgood feeling amongst supporters and between players and supporters which hasn't been there for the best part of 12 months.

As for players currently in the Conference and below, wouldn't be surprised if we see a few others turn up at Victoria Road. Solly Taiwo is one I'll be keeping an eye on, even if it's unlikely he'll be making a 3rd return to Victoria Road. As I say, we'll essentially be acquiring a whole new squad over the summer so it's going to be a busy one.

And while it's fairly unlikely and there's been no actual hint from the club, a lot of people believe that Scott Doe might make a return from Boreham Wood. He was in the crowd to watch us lose against Wimbledon the other week, and with Still back in charge, you wonder whether he might be tempted back. Only problem there is, is that he's under contract with Wood and unless they're relegated I imagine it's fairly unlikely we'd be able to pay any amount to bring him back.
