Didn’t all EFL clubs vote in the summer that whatever happened, this season would be played to a finish and no PPG?

I’m sure I read that several times.
I don't think it matters what they said. They aren't omnipotent. If it gets bad enough either the EFL or the government will stop it.

Is it sustainable to keep getting 1-0'ers? Are you creating chances and but not converting or are you setting up for 1-0's?

I'm obviously not as well informed as you lot but there were murmurs of discontent under Ricketts when he was keeping it tight defensively and nicking goals but Cotterill is doing the same?
I think we’ve been unlucky to not win all 7 games in truth.

Accrington at home in Cotterill’s first game finished 2-2 with Accy scoring a 93rd minute penalty where we should have put the game to bed. Next was Charlton where we draw 1-1 admittedly scoring a 90th minute penalty ourselves but we really should have taken our chances earlier in the game to put ourselves ahead. Then we had three 1-0 away wins on the bounce at Hull, Lincoln & Doncaster. It was only Lincoln who put a bit of pressure on our goal out of the three teams. Next was Wigan on Boxing Day which was 1-1. Wigan was the biggest disappointment so far as we dominated the game and only went behind through another penalty. Finally was Blackpool last night where we had a couple of chances to go two in front but their keeper made some good saves. Blackpool lumped a lot of balls into our box at the end but didn’t really threaten us.

I said at the start of the season that we’ve got a very good squad for this division on paper but just had the wrong man in charge going into the season. Feels very similar to the Paul Hurst season we had 3 years ago where we won a stupid number of games 1-0 or 2-0 and finished 3rd behind big spenders Wigan & Blackburn.

A work colleague of mine has always been ‘in the know’ with regards to things happening at the club and he tells me that the players love working under Steve Cotterill. There seems to be much more organisation in training and the lads actually want to play for him which they didn’t want to do under Ricketts as he was far, far too soft with them. The stories I heard about Rickett’s training I couldn’t believe was happening at a League 1 club!!

We’ve always been a well off club in terms of finances and being well run and we should have a good budget in January for Cotterill to strengthen further. 2 imminent signings already inbound. Rumours of Aden Flint and a lad from Torquay so far.

If the season continues, I see no reason as to why we couldn’t finish top half pushing the play offs (even potentially sneak into them) and then next season push for promotion. Like I say, we’ve always had the players it was just the management which was letting us down.

That’s not my point,

Yes, they can stop football being played, but they can’t determine that the season finishes. Even the EFL can’t do that. They have to go by the votes of their member clubs, who, as said, have agreed that this season will be played to a finish whatever happens and whenever that may be.

Cheers. The squad certainly doesn't look as bad as Ricketts was perhaps making it.

It'll be interesting to see whether Shrews fans are as tolerable of low scoring games like they weren't with Ricketts (but I'm assuming were with Hurst) under Cotterill but it's all about winning football!

Shrews v Crewe is off due to a couple of positive tests in the Shrews squad. Hope everyone affected is OK and wish them a speedy recovery.

I had a look at your squad last night as I do for every opposition (disclaimer, I know absolutely fuck all about the majority of teams in League 1 barring Crewe). To me, it does look strong on paper. Stronger than a lot of squads in the League. The defence looks particularly impressive. Not surprised at all with the run you have been on. Shame the game has been PP. Should have been a decent one.

I just love that Oxford fans still think the whole world is just lagging behind their sensational covid protocols.

The safest place in Western Europe is Oxford’s training ground.

So Shrewsbury played Wigan and Blackpool in their last games.. who haven't called off games.

Are there any known cases of the virus being passed between teams playing each other or is just a case of individuals letting themselves down outside of matchday?
Bite bite bite.

Not sure if anybody has tried to correlate that. Would be interesting, and I guess quite easy to find at the very least a superficial link. Or maybe people have looked into it and there is no link.

It's not as straightforward as anyone letting themselves down, is it? This virus is notoriously easy to catch...

We're without manager Michael Appleton and Goalkeeping Coach who have both tested positive. Game at AFC Wimbledon will still go ahead.

Everyone else tested negative as well, which is good.

Did think it was weird that only a player turned for for the pre-match interview this morning.

So, let me get this straight. Crewe fans bring Oxford into a discussion about their game with Shrewsbury being called, but any Oxford fans who reply are on a wind up or thick?

Pot, kettle, black springs to mind. As does obsessed. Or you're just plain fucking weirdos.

If you weren't all continuously being completely dim and blaming every covid case on the individual like it's a missed penalty and a chance for one-upmanship, your presence wouldn't even register.

I haven't posted on here since November, and before that October, so what the fuck are you talking about?

Think I called it right. Fucking Crewe weirdos.

Getting relegated doesn't bother me in the slightest as I don't take football that seriously, but having to post in the league 2 thread where that absolute Bolton whopper posts is bringing me out in cold sweats!

We are truly hopeless this season. Circus troupe bad.
no problem we will be exchanging places,as i said last August

2 week break will do nothing - as has been shown many times before. Everything needs locking down until enough people have been vaccinated. These Tiers, circuit breakers and all the other nonsense has had no impact. It’s just dragging it out even longer. Bite the bullet and bin the season. Start again, Covid free, in August.

I think in the wider picture, lockdown and schools mostly shut until the vaccine has been rolled out properly is highly likely. Football will have to continue though surely or clubs will basically die one by one. After the fuss and warning when last season was halted, I think pretty much all of them would be reluctant to have a prolonged period of inactivity whilst paying wages. Unless the Premier League offer more assistance lols.

AFCW for us tomorrow.

I think we're only missing McGrandles, who's another couple of weeks away from returning.

Jackson and Archibald were back on the bench last weekend and it sounds like Bridcutt might return, which will be a boost, especially in Appleton's absence because he seems fairly involved with the coaching side as a senior player.

They started the season well but I'm assuming the amount of players out has hindered them over the last handful of games. If we had 12 player out we'd not be able to field a starting XI.

Actually we've only had a few out injured up until this week. We've just been playing crap for the last half a dozen game's.We are poor defensively. Its a guaranteed win for you tomorrow with us having 12 out.We will have to put the youngsters in the team.
I have no idea what constitutes postponing a game due to covid.!? Seems a bit of a lottery to me.

Who are the 12 out? I believe 2 of them are back tomorrow following isolation.

Perhaps I'm a cynic but i'd wait for the teamsheet. Woodyard, Piggott and a Brentford loanee due to return which will be a boost.
