I'd find that utterly hilarious. Unlikely though, I would love to steal a manager off them that is actually good after the last c*** we hired from the other side of the city.

I can see it being McCarthy. He's proved with Ipswich that he can build a competitive team without spending any money and that seems like something that would appeal to Lerner. Also feels like his time at Portman Road is coming to an end one way or another so I think he'd take the job if he was offered it.

Certainly looking like it's between Nige, Mick and Steve at the moment.

I don't know the stats but I imagine we must have one of, if not the worst record in the league when going behind, with the lowest possession of any Championship club. If Plan A doesn't work, Plan B is normally to concede defeat.

Villa must have a glutton for boring, negative football.

If Villa wanted an immediate stabilisation, safe pair of hands and a guarantee of being at least competitive next season even if budgets are slashed, then Mick would be a very wise choice. For a couple of years. I take it the Wolves connection wouldn't cause any issue?

Hate to break to you, but I don't even think any of them managers would come if the job was offered. Whoever takes the job will come in knowing there is nothing (not a pittance, not peanuts, NOTHING) in terms of investment, which would even put someone like Moyes out of the picture.

Villa needs somebody who knows how to build a promotion-winning (yes, stop clutching at straws, you'll be mathematically relegated this time tomorrow) side from scratch, like Mick McCarthy.

Has anyone said otherwise? On either us being relegated, or the potential managerial candidates?

In terms of manager, we've said who we realistically hope gets the job, not that they would accept it, I've not seen a Villa fan claim we have any hope of staying up for at least 2 months now, I think you're just making things up here to be honest.

On the case of McCarthy, I have no doubt that he would probably do a good job, just as any of the other potential candidates that are currently wanted at Villa Park potentially would. I doubt many Villa fan's first choice would be McCarthy, but I can't see many being too disappointed at the appointment either. I, as others would agree, simply stated that his brand of football is dull.

McCarthy is an underrated manager, people are going to laugh but I would have been happy if he succeeded Rodgers at Liverpool. McCarthy has performed slightly above expectations pretty much everywhere he's gone. That kind of consistency is the sign of a good manager.

Have people forgotten that Moyes managed Everton for 11 years with very limited money to spend? And did pretty well with it? He'd be a good fit at Villa but reckon he'd rather manage in the Prem.

Seems like the Villa board are still waiting for someone other than John Carver to apply...

There's a difference between "very limited money" and "nothing at all". If Moyes goes into that job, he'll be like a paraplegic in a phonebox.

I agree, I can't see him starting next season with us and a move to Villa would suit all parties IMO.

If K.Mac were to get it, he would be put into interim control of the team again. Won't happen.

Pearson/Bruce/Moyes I'd like any of them, Mick McCarthy has become a frontrunner now according to the bookies. I'd rather avoid that, because much as he has a record of getting teams promoted, his style of football is fucking dire, and he has never done well as a PL manager when promoted.

Rodgers is going back to Swansea, Monk I can't see happening, Neville would be just like our fucking club to be honest, Coleman won't leave Wales, and I wouldn't want him to! McLaren I'd avoid like the plague, I also can't see Little taking over for the same reasons as MacDonald to be honest, if he were to have a chance of taking over, he'd be in charge now imo.

I think at the moment it is between Pearson/Bruce/Moyes/McCarthy, all would be solid appointments, but as I said, I'd rather avoid Mick.

I agree - Pearson would be a good shout. That changing room doesn't just need a rocket, it needs a nuke!
