In 2 short years the team that pissed League 2 has been dismantled by Page, and then Edinburgh recruited poorly before Hasselbaink came and did an even worse job. 3 poor appointments since Wilder left and that's why we're back.

On the face of it we should have a decent side for this level, if we can keep Pierre, Crooks, O'Donnell, O'Toole etc

Anything changed down here?

At least it took you two years to become shit, all in the space of 8 games we started as likely automatic promotion contenders to scrapping for 7th place.

Welcome back, seems a bit of a shame really that you're back so soon after that great season.

Much has changed down here. Lincoln are here for one, you'll find them... trying... to say the least (should they stay down). FGR are also here, their fans are a good laugh, take jokes about the tinpotness of their club in good spirits. Hartlepool and Orient have gone, and taken a good few fans with them. Everyone down here has a good squad for this level (well aside from Grimsby, but everyone else).

I TOLD YOU that you'd be back down here in no time and YOU DIDN'T LISTEN.

By very definition the squads down here are bang average. Those a bit better than average will do well, those a bit below average will struggle to make an impact.

This is where the managers come to the fore. They will make the difference - one way or the other.

A very good point ID. Our situation is a perfect example!

We have a terrible record against Northampton. Not sure I've ever seen us beat them.

That’s pretty much what most Chesterfield fans thought at the start of this season too.

Any idea who your manager will be next season Cobblers fans?

Northampton are one of those sides like Tranmere and Bury where we never lose the home game against them but almost always lose the away game. Even worse, 2 of our last 4 visits to Sixfields ended up being 5-1 and 6-2 defeats. So not sure if I'm looking forward to Northampton away next season!

I do think Northampton will be fine though should they appoint a manager who knows this level. Chesterfield had that fraud Gary Caldwell in charge who got a Wigan side with an obscene wage budget promoted. How different it could've been for the Spireites if they hired Tony Mowbray over him...

Dean Austin has made a good case for it as caretaker but I think we need a fresh start. Have never been to Crewe myself so looking forward to ticking that one off the list!

How has "our" Matt Grimes done this season? He seems to have been almost ever present.

He's had no one to pass to for the most of the year and as a result gets hammered by the fans. He's not been helped by the fact he's been started every week without fail, as when we're losing the fans have got angry he's been ever present and we've been shite. Won't really miss him.

Mansfield aren’t as total football tiki taka as they were 2 years ago.

Luton have gone up so next season clubs won’t have to damage their pitches to stand a chance of beating them.

Grimsby have won next seasons league 2 already, just as Cheltenham did last season.

The league is much weaker now that Rakish Bingham no longer plys his trade at this level.

Carver is out of prison.

BigDaveCUFC now supports Curzon Ashton as the pain and suffering of supporting Carlisle got too much.

And I’m the optimist amongst us Carlisle fans.

Feel for Sam Foley was a decent player for us but he has now been relegated three times in four seasons from league one with three different clubs! Some doing that!

Our problem were the two managers and the break up of the squad after Chris Wilder, but the eventual downfall was the appointment of JFH who joins the list of very good footballer's who can't/couldn't manage. (Burton was on the back of Gary Rowetts efforts). I honestly believe that we had better players than our results. It'll be interesting to see how many we keep in our attempt to not do a Chesterfield.
Anyway, ever the optimist, we aren't confirmed as relegated yet, if we win 9-0 and Rochdale lose on Saturday, we stay up!!! :woot:

As for Northampton - meh, it’s not a bad day out. Hopefully they can accommodate more away fans - you ever sort that stand out?

You can have 1400, not that you've ever needed it from memory, apart from the 2004 playoffs?

I cannot remember it being filled other than the play-off game, despite it being relatively close the likes of County, Lincoln, even Grimsby always seem to take more of a priority.
