Just checked the latest update: Only Germany is now for all here the winner of the respective group. Thanks to the Ref. even Brazil has now made it only 2nd in the group once (and Switzerland being first? really....I see that you even put Saudi Arabia 1st in Group A. Wow that's a statement. And then I remembered that you were shit in Oakey's and Vanni's predictions this season and this makes sense now. (sorry, no offense, Ref )

Re. the Rev's predictions, I certainly do not think KSA will win their group but I won't be that surprised if he gets a few of his calls spot on, like Argentina not going through for example. Or the Swiss beating Brazil to first spot. Quite a few of the so called big teams often get off to a sluggish start and find themselves having to win their 3rd match to go through. IIRC, Italy are one such team.

I have had the honor of playing a couple of football matches in KSA. Once against a British Aerospace team and once against a Royal KSA Airforce team. Drew one, lost one.

As I waited for the transport to the first game in an old Grimsby Town shirt another player turned up who I had never seen before, he also had an old Grimsby Town top on. Never seen him since either!

I'm thinking those of us that have gone for Russia to go through group A have made the wrong call. I watched a couple of their recent friendly games and they're really poor, and tbh I don't think they'll even win one of their group matches. No wonder they're only ranked 65 or something. Their back line is all over the place, and they're not that much better as an attacking force either.

A shame me thinks, as I've got a soft spot for the Russkies*. In fact, they're one of the two national sides I follow beside good ol' Ingerland, the other being Chile. I've also got a soft spot for Norn Iron but they don't really count now do they. I mean I wouldn't call NI a foreign national side.

*I'm sure Dirk will have something to say about this!

The Russkies will probably get a load of dodgy decisions. And if not then they might have got lucky what with Salah being crocked/not fully fit. And they play Uruguay last who might already be through by then so might be happy to play out a convenient draw, (like all good teams do ).
