First clean sheet of the season and well deserved. Game was quite open at times but thought we dealt with York's threats very well. Was a bit worried when Brodie came on but his biggest impact was getting booked for mouthing off at the referee. Back into the playoffs as long as Tranmere dont beat Dagenham later!

Apparently a much better performance today. Tough place to get anything too.

Chester Dover... Wow. Did not see that coming. Chester didn't look capable of scoring at all against us and Dover have looked good so far this season. Hats off to our neighbours.

Not sure it was our first clean sheet,I'm sure I watched us beat Gateshead 3-0 last week

Boreham Wood is my closest London game so have been planning on going for a while, but really not sure if I can be arsed.

Fully expecting another loss to nil, or maybe at best a 0-0 with Mills saying how fantastic we played.
So glad I went, much better performance - probably best of the season (doesn't say much).

Controlled the whole match. Tyler Harvey was played upfront and was much better - chased all game, Jordan Evans played CM and looked much more threatening. Rooney was on the left and looked better cutting back in.
Rutherford back to playing how he was at the start of the season.

And the whole defence played well to completely nullify any threat from Boreham Wood.

I hope Mills just sticks to this lineup going forward and doesn't keep changing things

Apologies, meant our first away clean sheet of the season. I'm putting that typo down to wet hands from the deluge I survived in the first half

Frustrating, we let Barrow win a shed-load of corners first half, half of.them trying to play it out from the back and cocking up, but they didn't force a save out of Sam. Second half seemed to be going same way but Frear came on and we had a ten to fifteen minute spell of knocking on the door, though as a bit more open Barrow caused a few genuine scares.
Kids free meant a decent crowd of two thousand plus.

Really should have won that. By far the better team once we went a man up but almost lost it with the last kick. Impressed with Tranmere though, thought they played really well.

it's all the ex-Barrow players there that does it;- McNulty, Cook, Almond - and we'll even take credit for Richie Sutton who fell in love with the game again after being on loan with us last season

Listening on the radio and few nails left. Hanging on for over half an hour with ten men and Cook could have stolen it at the death. It sounded a decent game and Daggers came up against Scott Davies at his best to get us the point.

Christ, can you tell what our problem is? I thought scoring goals would be our problem this year but the defence is shocking.
Eastleigh and Barrow are gonna have a field day with our shambolic defending :ffs:

Would have taken a point before today so drawing after being 3-1 down feels like a win. Especially against a full-time team with more than three times our budget. And we could only name four substitutes today.

Horrific defending from set pieces/crosses into our box gifted them three goals. Tubbsy scored a nice header on debut. DSY made it 3-2 with a toe poke that Ryan Clarke let roll past him and in because he thought it was going wide. Cut through them for the equaliser and Kandi volleyed in at the back post. Great scenes. DSY went through late on and tried to take it around Clarke but he did well to grab the ball at his feet.

Eastleigh - Looked in control and decent in the first-half without actually forcing Poke to make a save despite leading 3-1. Completely lost their way second half and while we were able to bring on quality from the bench which made a difference, their changes made them worse. I think they had some players injured or whatever but they could be lacking depth. Would still expect them to make the play-offs.

On to North Ferriby now.
Absolutely destroyed them in the 2nd half, although I think their GK was injured and they didn't have one on the bench. I was a McCarthy and Sharps doubter, but I'm grudgingly admitting they're turning shite into gold dust. Craig Mahon would certainly have been on his way in the summer had he not been given a 2-year contract. His goal, the 3rd was an unbelievably well-struck shot from distance that stayed low. We're at the heady heights of 12th.

I thought the other day you looked th e best Chester 'team' you've had since coming back up, maybe missing a bit of experience in attack. Pleased for Durrell too, never happened for him here for one reason or the other but was obviously a talented player. I did have doubts about his mentality at this level but pleased to be shown to be wrong.

Good result for us if not the performance from us in annual home win over Braintree. They gave their all but lost two defenders to injury during the first half and their keeper had a 'mare!
Top scorers in the division again.

Even we beat you. But now you're unbeaten in five. What on earth is wrong with this league?

Mahon’s back to his best again now, I guess it was just some sort of confidence crash for him last season. Immense performance again from Sam Hughes at the back as well, won absolutely everything and Dover are hardly poor going forward.

Good stuff from Macca and Sharps as you say, you’ve got to give them credit, think they just graft hard and do their homework.

Not much, it's just getting significantly worse each year.

Right well that's all but one of the bottom half now played, and mainly beat, this season.

We'll be mid-table by Xmas.

I know this post is slightly tongue in cheek, but I think we are a bit better than you suggest. We might have played 9 out of the current 12 bottom half teams, but the way we've ground out so many wins against them is fairly impressive and not many other sides will manage the same record. We have a lot of hard games coming up now, and we're not going to maintain the same points return that we have done, but we will win some of these tougher games.

We don't have the quality, or the depth, to make a challenge for the title. However, we might as well give the play offs a go, and 80 points should be the target, even if it's an outside shot. We need 53 more points to reach that target - so 17 wins, 2 draws, 14 defeats.

Barrow away on Tuesday night will be a step too far though and will almost certainly result in defeat, especially with McCombe (our biggest player) suspended.

Not tongue in cheek at all really. If/when we have our poor spell like we have every year, it's so tight below us that we'll drop like a stone and struggle to climb back up again.

Quite happy being pessimistic for now!
