Great win, great performance from Frankie V who looks absolute mustard. We actually do have a midfielder who can do all the things you need a midfielder to do in this league like move, pass, tackle and even finish. Stockport admittedly were wank. 2-1 hahaha.

Be afraid Bromley and the Cods, be very afraid.

I'll raise you a McAtee and a Clifton for your Frankie V. And if you come back I'll bet a Fox we'll beat you!

We'd have had a great chance to win that if Mitch Walker didn't decide to punch a corner into his own goal under no pressure whatsoever.

Was too far away to see if it was a penalty in the 2nd half but not seen any complaints

Vincent has done well since we released him for not being able to establish himself as first choice LB for the under 18s.

Huffed and puffed through the first half, but our lack of a midfield, pace and quality told in the end. However this is the start of a long journey back, and it isn't going to take place overnight.

Also we had the following from Stan, who was at the game today:

"The 3 coaches are going to get all the time in the world, all the time. The 3 coaching staff are untouchable as we've identified that their abilities are exactly what we need.

3 seasons of the poor recruitment aren't going to be unravelled overnight, but I guarantee it will be now.

We'll be ruthless, swift and uncompromising on finding the best that we can and integrating them with the best we have.

Spoke to Kev postmatch and it's our job to support the three of the coaches because they have come into a grossly neglected sporting environment and the stench of failure and mismanagement in the football department is strong.

This will change. I guarantee it.

Tom and I are talking again early next week with the aim of finding a positive resolution but make no mistake Ladies and Gentlemen, positive change is coming.

Stan."

Well, we looked the part today but Stockport were the most pre Vincent Notts County clone team I've seen. Ticked all the coaching boxes but will never go up playing like that .
They played in front of us, proficient but no real pace or dynamism, everything we've been until Tuesday when Francis Vincent made his starting debut.
Suddenly we have a high energy, an attacking midfield, wing backs believe it's worth going forwards and centre halves believe the midfield will protect them.
It's ridiculously early to judge a player but Vincent looks an absolute revelation. The opposite of Samson, he's cut his hair, short back and sides and looks like a proper mester rather than some teenager trying out for a boy band part on X Factor.
Special mention for Dion Kelly Evans, everything you could ever want from a 5'6" player of moderate talent. Heart the size of a blue whale.

He’s become a bit of a cult figure here through not playing, we signed him injured in the summer and Burchnall has constantly been like ‘wait til he’s ready’. Finally come into the team the last two games and he’s just been an injection of everything we needed. Early days, but I’m sold. Frankie V ultras.

In other news, is Quigley like that against everyone else or does he just save those performances for us? My last pre-lockdown memory is him two-footing our goalkeeper in the face at Barrow and getting sent off, and his display today was basically embarrassing. Couldn’t hold the ball at all, made a million fouls, several embarrassing dives and nearly decapitated Kelly-Evans before Rusk hooked him so he didn’t get himself sent off.

Me too, not been as excited about a midfielder since Ryan Yates, Neal Bishop and Dean Thomas who are all club legends.
It's the hope that kills you but I believe today's team and bench have a real chance of they play that positive football for the rest of the season.

Sounds like we did just about enough to win that. Got 2 and sat in inviting them on, which is typical of Rowe a lot of the time. Big W though and we move on
I wouldn’t say we particularly sat in after the 2 goals. We played pretty much the same way all game, their goal was an absolute freak with a clanger from the normally very reliable Loach.

Boreham Wood were exactly what you’d expect… physical, tough to break down, but they offered absolutely nothing in an attacking sense. For us, Tshimanga was outstanding and scored a great goal, linking up well with Rowe all game. I also thought King, Oyeleke and Gunning were excellent throughout aswell

Both Boden and Evans proved Rowe was right in releasing them at the end of last season, neither would get anywhere near our team now, even with the current injury crisis

Another couple of knocks picked up today aswell, with Miller having to go off in the first half and McCourt basically limped to the final whistle with his peg leg! Hopefully neither are serious. Onto Eastleigh (H) this Tuesday for the return of Tom Whelan…

Tshimanga best player in the league. I will hear nothing else.
Unfortunately, you aren't licensed to make that call my friend. When Chesterfield are top you can make this absurd claim but until then the best player in the league is John McAtee.

We all know the best player in the league is now Frank Vincent. One game or not.

More seriously, huge week for us with Bromley then Grimsby. Think it’s where we’ll learn whether we’re potential contenders or dicking about in the play-offs once again.

Like we would know we’ve seen barely anything all season and the limited parts I’ve seen him i am not impressed.

He pulled his hamstring chasing after a Fleetwood under 18s kid who gave him jip in a pre season game, pulled it again after being rushed back against Southend and then got dragged off today to play a 5”5 winger as a striker after gifting you the second goal.

we’re an embarrassment and every football fan can see it apart from our clown director of football and his mate Stott.

our club were cowards to sack Gannon and they’re going to be cowards again in shying away from getting rid of the PE Teacher and his fat assistant.

Throwing himself to the ground is one of Quigley's most frustrating characteristics, even when he plays for your own team. There were plenty of occasions last season where he could have released the ball to someone in a better position but no, he falls over, the ref waves play on and the chance is gone.

Gutted we didn’t score a few more today, absolutely dominated on the ball today Southend could not live with the movement of our tricky players. Great support from Southend fans who must be going through the ringer with their club, Martin don’t deserve them.

Massive two games with Halifax away and Chesterfield, we will really see where we are 5pm next Saturday.

We were a bit bob today but Yeovil mainly restricted to stuff from range. They press well. Very relieved to get the second but missed a gilt-edged chance before that. Looked a good finish from the other end.
Our manager's post-match interview was...interesting. he said we were "excellent" and were the better side in both halves.

Why on earth did you ever think he was a LB, apart from being left footed.

No chance. Just find the funny side of it otherwise you’ll lose yourself in the anger.

we’re a bigger joke than we were getting beat by no mark national league north teams until the two Simons are gone.

its not our club anymore. The opinion of fans of the club mean Jack shit. It’s corporate noncery now.

Just had a look at the league table. Amazed Rusk is still in a job. 10 goals in 11 games with the resources they have! Just to put that in context, that's 3 less than Aldershot, 4 less than Weymouth and half of what Woking have.

On another note, Bromley have won 6 in a row in the league. Absolutely flying.

Looking at the top 11 teams, maybe with the exception of Altrincham who may eventually just feel the pace, every other side there will fancy a top 7 spot. Going to be fierce competition this season.

Aldershot (and Boreham Wood, apparently )
Couldn’t get to the Rec today, long term family commitment, but had a number of sneaky updates from attendees, and post-match analysis.
Other than our defensive frailties, pretty upbeat, definite improvement in midfield and promising attack options. I’m sure MM will sort out the defence, and we’ll soon be flying. Roll on Tuesday, home to Weymouth, surely bringing our dreadful home record to an end. Mid-table boredom, here we come…

You can never out- Devonshire Devonshire.

Whats Barratt doing wasting his time at Maidenhead? far too good to be in a relegation battle every year.

One is because he is a local lad who has been associated with us for a long time.

The other is that his EFL move a few years back went very badly and I'm not sure he wants to take that step again, at least not for now.
