@JeffStelling: Like @StockportCounty as a football club - it is a proper club. But Dave Challinor always wanted to be manager of an EFL club. That’s why he is staying with us and not returning to National League. Sorry Stockport fans. Actually not sorry at all. And btw have you seen our fans !

@DaleyKeers: Don't know what is worse, Stockport fans thinking Challinor will go or Hartlepool fans worrying that he will, Only team he leaves for is a league one or above, no ifs or buts.

@Yacker851: Stockport fans acting like they're a massive club in the comments it's a backward step for challinor one that I can't see him taking.

@bigdoug61: You look at Stockport’s current position and it seems unlikely they’ll get automatic promotion so why would he want to spend at least two seasons in the National league when he’s worked so hard to become an EFL manager

@dave_littlefair: Look at Rusk … gone in less than a year ! Dave signed a new 3 year deal in which he’s building something special ….. he’s going nowhere

@monkeeboy74: Not a chance with @Official_HUFC manager Dave Challinor he has just signed a new contract plus who would want a job in a lower league with a life span of 6 months before replaced with yet another manager

@JoeCooper003: don’t make me laugh, he’s got the keys to our town. what would he want to go there for

At least someone is still living in the real world

@Seanmartin3382: Challinor is a good manager, who has taken Pool out the NL and into the EFL. Having decent stock, he is going to be linked to any decent vacancy. As fans, we all hope that our managers or players, that we want to stay, do that. However, history tells us a different story

++++

BTW I'd be fairly gutted and annoyed if the shoe was on the other foot and I'm not gloating but what I find bizarre is the naivety of some of the Hartlepool fans, money talks and when it does most people listen.

Football fans are the only people who really care about 'League status' to a massive degree. If you are going to get paid more to manage a division below, and especially if you will be going to a club where you won't be penny pinching then its an easy decision. And it's not as if Stockport are a tinpot monied village club- they are bigger than Hartlepool in every way other than league status.

Stelling is a clown. You get the feeling he doesn't really have a clue about the goings on there, he just pretends to associate with them for his man-of-the-people act. He was chatting confirmed shit about our owners wanting to take them over too.

That tweet is just embarrassing for him.

Come on now, I’m only just over the R&R heartbreak but let’s not pretend that it wasn’t them two who came knocking at Pools door first.

Doesn't make any more sense to me now than it did yesterday.

Stockport don't seem the most patient with managers and we are still early enough in the season for the owner to expect them to hunt down the leaders. Anything less than play off semi finals he's in trouble IMO

He did exactly the same when he left Colwyn Bay for Fylde, an initial step down to move forward.

Working with the Hartlepool chairman must be an intensely frustrating experience. You look at Stockports squad and if you back yourself you have to think you can take that team up this season.

Have heard from a very reliable source that he's been having sleepless nights lately due to us being top of the league below and couldn't hack a year of shitting himself about facing the wrath of Blundell Park for WHAT HE DID so he's decided to drop down early and face the music.

Yeah I get it for players moving down because it’s completely unambitious and will cost them a chance at a good career.

Managers though, I don’t think it matters all that much, especially when every manager in the EFL and below is only ever a few months away from the sack

I have no real affection for the Mighty B-Wood or their arse of a chairman, but good god i will find it piss funny if the ongoing battle of who can spunk the most money on a failed promotion attempt means that they take one of the promotion slots, leaving the 'we've got more fans than you, willy waving behind'. Even better if the other promotion spot goes to Bromley or some such.

I think its a bit early to start predicting who will win the league tbh. Boreham Wood may make the play offs, nothing more.

Boreham Wood, that model of financial sustainability and sense.

Are they only allowed to appoint Tranmere centre-halves?

What's Ian Goodison up to these days

If it helps, a lot of County fans are concerned with how much has been spent trying to recover from that horrendous decision in January. Some spectacularly hubristic people at the club right now

I have some sympathy with this view. L1 & L2 packed with Mickey Mouse outfits with Spartan crowds while the Conference prospers with a growing core of rock solid and historic Football League clubs and grounds teeming with fans is exactly what the EFL deserve. :ds:

I couldn't confirm or deny as the Pizza Cup is a dog shite affair that I haven't attended, but they did burn a 10ft flag of Dave Challinor at half time behind one of the stands (tinpot thread material I know)

Already been mentioned.
We’d probably only need to use two black puddings & a packet of fags as compo to get him.

Pete Wild, Jim Goodwin, Barry Ferguson or Graham Alexander.

The latter has a point to prove.
