Bit of a shame Oldham aren’t slightly higher up the table to add a bit more zest to this fixture. I still expect that they’ll come out at a high tempo in the first 20 minutes and look to frustrate us.

Against Colchester and Carlisle we had that early barrage and saw it off with our own goal, which in both games seemed to flatten the opposition. I imagine the same will happen tonight if we get the first goal.

Ollie Banks had a poor game in the home fixture, but was foolishly playing through injury, but he’s back in form now and I expect he’ll put in a better performance tonight.

Any form of win puts us 4th and either 2pts or 1pt off a automatic place depending on how Bury do tonight. While also putting us 10 clear of Colchester in 8th.

Not the best of starts with Latics taking an early lead.

Frustrating. Oldham started at a better tempo and took the lead. All Tranmere since then but wasteful in final third, Oldham aided by their extra 3 players in breaking up our attacks.

Can you smash and grab a 2-0 home win?

Another stone wall pen not given.

Fans sang to the end. Onto Newport.

BBC stats? Yeah nice one you were chasing shadows and benefitted from us being sloppy at both ends.
Ok whatever you say. You’ve been on a great run, may possibly go on another one, and your following tonight was impressive, but let’s not make things up now. Norwood wasn’t allowed to do anything, Banks was classic Banks, and that number 6 of yours was an absolute donkey tonight. I’ll assume that was a one off because he was MOM at the reverse game at Preston Park.

Nah he was just thrown to the ground in the penalty box. But ref was on your side all game.

Banks played well, he and Perkins ran midfield, it was poor crossing, finishing and two defensive errors that cost us.

Good luck sorting your club out though.

Smash and grab? Ffs. You had all the ball second half but created absolutely nothing. As for blaming the officials, Lang got done a couple of times and it wasn’t spotted. Great following and clearly a decent team on a great run but as above, don’t make things up.

We had it for 80 minutes and our finishing/crossing was off for sure. Nothing that will alarm us going forward.

Luke McCullough being out for the rest of the season is a hammer blow for us though, especially with Newport Saturday which will be a similar type of game to tonight.

You had the ball for 80 mins yet only just shaded possession?

I’m not quite sure you understand what ‘smash & grab’ means.

Thought I'd do us a favour by staying away, but while the SWA turned up in their numbers, it sounds like a lot of the team didn't. Surprised that Mellon didn't make more use of the subs.

Agree with TW that losing McCullough for the rest of the season is a major blow, as we don't have anyone of a similar nature in the squad.
