Lost 3-2 to Blackburn, very poor first half, came back in the second but it’s clear the game came too early we haven’t finished recruitment and had zero time to bed new signings in. Not overly worried about being near the bottom on that showing but certainly won’t be troubling the top six without at least 4 midfield/striking additions

Well we conceded 3 absolutely calamitious goals in the first 30 minutes of our game against Stevenage, who were effectively a National League side only 8 days ago, so that was a good start.

After the third I just started laughing..

Benny Hill Narrates

But still, some positives to be had in that we sorted ourselves out in the second half, and eventually winning on pens with a hattrick of saves from MacGillivary was a bonus. I'm hoping the first 30 can be put down as a major kick up the arse and we sort out that absymal defence with a signing or two. Lick your lips Shrewsbury!

I watched Stoke vs Blackpool. I was impressed with Blackpool. CJ Hamilton and Kaikai were very lively. They probably deserved to win but lost on penalty’s

Crewe for us.

Sounds like we'll be without Bridcutt and possibly Jackson due to tweaked hamstrings. Neither have been involved in the last couple of friendlies.

Like all other clubs, we'll be using this one and the midweek EFL Cup games as extended pre-season friendlies so a mish mash of a side over the two games.

Nervous imp here, Bridcutt out is a real blow however Edun should slot in. Slightly worried about chances created and taking them. We've struggled with that since MA arrived, we're just really light there and we've pretty much had one striker since end of January. Money would be on Crewe for me, we've had such a high turnover I think it'll take us a while to gel etc. I just hope we don't leave it to late.

Thinking about it, we're missing Lewis on Wales U21 duty as well?

We’ve played something like 8 pre season games so should be pretty much match ready, so I’d expect us to go strong into this one. Missing our goalkeeper jaaskelainen Who’s been called up for international duty, but apart from that I’d expect us to be full strength. We might change a few for the tin pot trophy next week at Bolton.

Charlton at home on Saturday. No idea what to expect from them. Seem to have financial trouble but still managed to sign Gilbey from MK for a fee.

8? Wow, I think we only played 4 or 5.

Cardiff at home, Harris already talking up our ‘physical threat’ so the perception of us hasn’t changed. Think we’ll be beat.

Interesting defence for us.

A CM who was on loan at Harrogate last season is at RB, a 17-year old at LB, the two CB's haven't played together in pre-season that I can recall, a Palmer in goal after one training session with the squad and only 6 subs!

EDIT - I don't think the back four even have any EFL appearances to their name.

Congratulations on your win Lincoln, we have 9 players out and are forced to play Lancashire and Youngster Sass-Davies at centre half. No Jaaskelienan, Nolan, Daniels, Beckles, Offord, Lowery, Powell, Zanzala or Porter

Should be interesting game then as we’re missing 9 players most of whom I’d have expected to play.

EDIT EDIT - Bradley has a handful of EFL appearances at Burton a couple of years ago whilst on loan there.

We're not quite that bad - missing Bridcutt, Lewis, Jackson, Walsh, Melbourne, Archibald (defensive players bar the latter).

Could be quite a few goals then, we’re using our 5th and 6th choice centre backs

Don't wanna jinx it on 70 minutes, and Cardiff surely not at full sprint for this, but this 3-0 is erasing a lot of the pre-season nerves.

Lost 2-1 to Lincoln. Hard to read to much into it with so many players missing. All 3 goals were in the game were very suspect defending but you would expect that with so many first team defenders out from both teams. The only real positive was Mandron looked a handful upfront and won most things in the air.

Come from behind to beat a full strength championship side. Might need some tightening up at the back but looks like we will score some goals this year
Bit annoying that only one of our four cameras could be used because the EFL had staffing issues, but an enjoyable game to watch. If truth, generally QPR were the stronger team with a few more players of quality, though their back four was not totally convincing. But long and short of it is that we scored three very good goals based on fast passing and good strikes. We had a fourth direct from a free kick disallowed for offside. We are clearly going to let in more goals than one would like, but we will score a lot from all over the place. Macloud looks like he could be our lynchpin. Good cameo from Camara.

Won 1-0 at Huddersfield in our "home" Carabao Cup tie (switched to give our relaid pitch an extra few days to grow). Eoghan O'Connell with the goal.

Maybe we're not rubbish after all...

Lack of fitness was a bit worrying.

Very much a ‘friendly’ feel to our game v Charlton (1-3).

Dominated for much of the game but horrendous defending from simple balls into our box underlines where we need improving.

A few players looked off the pace, Jonny Smith’s cameo performance gives something to look forward during the season.

Good blow out.

Huddersfield will really struggle this year, I reckon. Was it their first team?

How did you pick up so many injuries already? Too many friendlies? I know you guys have played something like 8, whereas I think we managed 4 or 5 max.

Apparently most are just knocks and only out for a couple of days, just think we’re saving most of our players for the league and using these as glorified friendliest. Which I’m shocked at as under Artell we’ve treated all the cups seriously prior to this game.

Beat Saaaafend 1-0, but had a player sent off.

(I didn’t watch or listen so waiting for a better summary from some of the other Gills)
