Bead Cardiff 3-0. They really were horrendous. We looked solid enough but improvements still needed in the squad. Can be happy with the start to the season though.

3-0 win over a poor Bristol Rovers side. Good to see Sears bag a couple. Hopefully he starts next week.

Pleasing and quite surprising win for us as I expected to lose at Crewe. Sounds like both sides were quite makeshift (we certainly had numerous injuries and squad players playing). Montsma already looks like he is going to be a fans favourite.

Huddersfield will really struggle this year, I reckon. Was it their first team?
Had 3 or 4 missing, while Matt Lund was our only absentee - apart from a total lack of senior forwards (hopefully to be corrected next week).

Main difference was goalies - theirs came for a cross, then changed his mind, allowing O'Connell to head into an empty net. Young Bazunu, who we've got for the season from Man City, was impeccable.

Give it a month and they'll appoint the Rochdale manager.
Doubt it. Huddersfield looked like a team trying to change style to Tika Taka from the more, er, agricultural Cowley era. BBM is also a fan of playing it out on the floor, so probably would have the same problem as their current manager.

Lost at Oxford on penalties after a 1-1 draw. No doubt they'll be right up there this year - they dominated possession with very nice passing and movement in midfield but little end product. Whether that was them being rusty or because we worked so hard to shut them down I'm not sure but we definitely have a much better shape and bundles of energy this season. Could have won it in the end - missed a penalty with 5 minutes to go and had more shots on goal so our early optimism about avoiding a relegation scrap this year doesn't look misplaced yet.

Hard to analyse the game really, except we were better 1st half you were better 2nd. And you also seemed a lot fitter than us, which was the only thing that worried me about yesterday.

I think they've been struggling with a plan since before Wagner, and even with him they relied on boring, defensive football.

Beat Saaaafend 1-0, but had a player sent off.

(I didn’t watch or listen so waiting for a better summary from some of the other Gills)

I didn't watch it either. But judging by most reports and comments on the forums -

Crap for 30 mins and Sarfend all over us.

Scored then were pretty decent for 30 mins.

Send off and were defending for 30 mins.

Expect goals at the CG tomorrow. We have 1 fit CB according to Wellens. (could be ‘mind games’)

We are leakier than a St David’s day celebration at the moment.

Not only that, but Lyden is out and Doughty has reportedly fucked off in a huff!

What price are Dale tomorrow?

I don’t buy this Doughty stuff. Seems to be an annual wind up that he’s fed up of football and has retired to concentrate on his business. Lyden being a crock is a shame, never seems to get a good run of things.

Wellens not sounding too happy, qouted as saying "We need help and I'm getting tired of saying it."

Fairly comfortable win v Colchester. Harness on fire. New boy from Accrington Callum Johnson looks one to watch. Had an excellent debut. Colchester kept to the ball well, but did nothing with it. Harness got 2 goals, could have been 4 and also his crossing was pretty good. Think he's a shoe in for our player of the season. Got 9 goals last season in an inconsistant one for him, but he had an injury early on and was in and out of the side. Think he'll be looking at 12-15 goals and around 10 assists this season

I’m happy with what we have, lots of pace although a very young squad. We could do with another right back and another midfielder but not a massive problem for now

Oxford at home tomorrow looking forward to it. No Walsh or Bridcutt. The latter is a big blow. We'll do well to get anything, overall play has been decent but defending from corners has been poor. Edun who I think will turn in to a big player will need to do better than he has and keep hold of the ball in Bridcutt's position. Oxford look strong with known names throughout and are my tip for automatic promotion. They are pretty much what we aspire to be but are 3 or so years behind them.

We've had one or two out injured - Matt Lund may be missing, Olly Rathbone missed some training and is catching up, same with Amankwah (our young loanee defender from Man City).

The other question is whether Steve Humphrys was signed in time to play.

Possible team (4-2-3-1 formation)

Bazunu
McLaughlin, O'Connell, McShane, Keohane
Morley, Ryan
Newby, Rathbone, Done
Humphrys

Subs
Lynch (GK), McNulty, Dunne or Amankwah, Brierley, Dooley, Tavares, Baah.
