Bradford City 0-0 Colchester United

We were dominant for large parts of the game. Novak should’ve scored early on - he also had one disallowed for offside.

It’s clear that we’re lacking pace and quality upfront. Some decent football on show yesterday - can’t deny McCall’s brand of football is easy on the eye, but won’t mean sod all if we’re unable to find the back of the net.

Can’t be too disheartened; a point and a clean sheet against last season’s play-off semi-finalists.

We move on to Lincoln in the Cup on Tues and then our first ever visit to FGR next Saturday - two tough games on paper.

Our players are probably going to get relegated even if they are playing in the Conference South this season, absolute shite the lot are.

Beat Grimsby 1-0 thought we looked ok although we wasted a few good chances to put the game to bed and almost conceded late on.

The stats do bear him out, you scored three goals from only five shots, we took 19 and only hit the target once (which I can't even remember happening). I don't see the problem with him pointing that out.

He feels that we were on the wrong end of too many refereeing decisions, maybe he's reaching because I don't remember thinking that we should have had more free kicks but it didn't come across to me like he was saying that was the reason we lost. I'm not really that bothered with what he says to the media after such a poor performance. He has a job on his hands to sort us out but the media asking him about what went wrong straight after the match, which to be fair they have to do, isn't likely to provide much insight.

Honestly we are that bad, we could still be playing now and the score would probably just be even greater in your favour, and we were even worse v Oldham. I listened to a bit of the Cambridge audio and your commentators were very kind towards us. Unlike last season on this occasion we both had the same view of the match.

He does come across a bit clueless - like what was that about our strikers fouling your CBs? - but tbf speaking to the media after watching your side get ain't that easy. If it were me I'd want to be afforded at least 45 mins after the final whistle has gone, and that's just to compose myself.

As for the match, I wouldn't be too hasty in over analysing Carlisle's showing, and I wouldn't jump to conclusions either regarding what lies ahead for Carlisle this season. Mark Bonner hasn't been that long in the manager's seat but I'm getting the impression that he sets out the side to take an early lead and then sit back and control the game, with quick counters at every opportunity. What I'm saying is it's very hard to get back in the game when you're 2 goals down and your opponents have 8/9 players behind the ball.

A very comfortable afternoon in the end. We were very clinical with our chances and three very well worked goals. Got the ball wide and we finally have strikers who can attack the ball. Ironside and Mullin are dogged and will be a good threat for us this season.

Carlisle are not as bad as the fans on here make out but I would like their opinion on Chris Beeches post match interview. Nothing appeared to be his fault and they lost the game because our strikers and defenders were fouling all game. They had loads of shots and he can't remember too many for Cambridge (despite losing 3-0).

To be fair I noticed a few fouls that weren’t given, but that’s not the reason we lost. We had plenty of free kicks and corners that were given that we did fuck all with. The reasons we lost were because 2 of our defenders jumped for the same ball, colliding with each other to give Cambridge a 1 v 1 which they dispatched with ease, and then minutes later failing to stop a cross and then our defender letting his man run in front to head home for 2-0. Once it was 2-0 it was game over. Cambridge did sit back and let us have the ball after that because they knew it would be easy to defend against, and it was.

Also Beech did go on to say near the end of the interview that Cambridge’s 2 strikers and 2 centre backs were better than ours on the day which made the difference. That’s probably a case of him calming down further into his interview and giving normal reasons rather than blaming the ref in frustration like he did at the start.

Drew 1-1 with Stevenage. On paper not a great result, but at least we're above Carlisle and Bolton...
Went 1-0 up in 12 mins through a penalty and they equalised with another pen on 85 mins - their only shot i can remember on target - In between the goals we hit the post and their keeper made 3 great saves from Angus, Beadling and Jones. 3 of our 1st choice back 5 were missing through injury and Quigley was out suspended - so we will only get better.

Sarcevic is doing ok no better than that. He is the club captain and maybe it is affecting his game. Scored a couple in pre season and he is still bedding in.No danger he has something about him. Load of abuse by all account by idiots on twitter. Trouble is how long can Evatt protect him,
or find a way of fitting him in the same team as Crawford. Its up to Evatt to find a solution because up to now he is nowhere the standard of Crawford

Does Masi think the Romans invaded the south, but turned back at the Reebok?

I mean, to be honest I'd turn away from Bolton...

Was with us for two and a half years. The first half year he had a fair few detractors, that he was unfit ( he wasn’t) and he did not have enough impact on the game. True some times, less so others - so a bit inconsistent. In the second season, in league one, he was better but still did not have a major effect on games. He did not feel like a league one player. But, and it is a big but, he put his hand up on relegation and came back the next year in league two. This went down well with the fans.

last year he was a revelation - much more dominant, more likely to run towards the goal and scored a lot more. very worthy of our player of the year.

However, there are two factors of why he was so good which might be a nagging doubt for you. First, what system do you play? I think he thrived in Lowe’s attacking 3-5-2 as opposed to Adam’s more cautious approach. Second, assuming he is on the right of midfield who do you have on the left? Danny Mayor was constantly double teamed, and I think Sarce was the player who benefitted most from this.

he did take some good short corners that led to goals.

Sarcevic is playing more central left midfield Tom White is on the right. Evatt plays a 3-5-2 with Gordon who is our lwb out wide of Sarcevic with Delfouneso on the left of Doyle

Problem with this is our best two players are not in the team and fans are looking for scapegoats
