Here's hoping. Our travelling support won't be happy due to costs but it makes sense. However the match could be off anyway due to international call ups.That'll be yet another Tuesday that I have to book holiday for. My manager doesn't get football but thankfully I have a lot of brownie points racked up.

Anyhoo, our problems have had a lot of media attention and a fundraiser set up by a pal has had a phenomenal response from Dons supporters, ex players and the wider footballing community. £25k or thereabouts raised so far. Gratifying to see.

The problem for Wimbledon isnt as such the lack of grounds in the area, but more alot of their nearby neighbours are premiership clubs and I find them alot less 'willing' for groundshare than others.

I think when we had the floods we did get some help from Newcastle and Sunderland who were top flight at the time, but neither offered their ground, training facilities and things I think was their support.

lower down the ladder they are more happier to give up ground for a game.


Crystal Palace, fulham or chelsea are the easiest from looks of it to change to, I'm doubtful any of them would agree, then its looking at maybe QPR, or Orient/Dagenham, maybe Barnet, bizarrely I think its harder to arrange groundshare in london than for us (who were miles from everyone) because no doubt police then look at who maybe is at home nearby same day etc etc.

hope it gets sorted, Carlisle went through it twice, in the short-term you dont find it too bad, getting to visit other alternate grounds, but it soon becomes a chore and you want back to being able to stroll up to your home ground.

Our pitch had to get completely relaid and it was done just in time for our FA cup match against Everton.

Suppose they could do Crawley. That’s not a million miles from Wimbledon.

Rumours doing the rounds that QPR might be able to help. We played at Loftus Road at the beginning of the Covid season whilst Plough Lane was being built.

I work around the corner from Gloucester's ground. That was their 3rd flooding in 15 years, albeit by far the worst. They had no insurance (couldn't get any after the second flood) and took 13 years to get home.

How the club didn't go bust will always amaze me. Their fans deserve a bloody medal.

I’m not one to defend them at all but the rain even in our area has been crazy, something like 3 times the monthly amount in a few hours and we have a number of main roads being shut as they’re now basically rivers.

That being said, some serious questions about the building of the ground will surely be being asked as that’s not normal.

100% this. We probably had more trouble in the last three games at Plough Lane than in our entire existence and they certainly played their part. Biggest bunch of wankers in the league. When you have got our fans fighting with them for 20 minutes solid two seasons in a row you know it is bad because ‘risk element’ isn’t something many would really associate with our family club…one of their stewards even got thrown out by his fellow jacketed friends because he lost his head with some of our kids after 20 minutes of pushing and shoving. Then last season one of them got sacked for groping a kid. Classy bunch, like their employers.

There are a number of reasons why that would be unlikely (even if geographically preferable for Wimbledon). Capacity and the fact we already have Crystal Palace Under-21s and Women playing at GGL.

That and the new Spurs and West Ham ones but I can't imagine those are in the running. 9th November our match though, we could be be the ones in line for first match back at Plough Lane? Nope I think they are digging the pitch up today. Obviously we need to find the root cause of the problem and take it from there.

We're in the mire but the response from the wider football community has been phenomenal. Someone went through through the donation feed and reckoned that we'd had support from at least 85 clubs. This is part of why I love football.

A freak incident like this does make football so much better and grateful of what we all try to achieve. Hope that AFC are back up to speed in no time. Any news on a timeframe on when they think it may be back to normal?

We've had 100 teams contribute now - fans of all the Prem teams, and all but one Championship team.

Quite a few League Two teams have yet to contribute <cough, cough> (unless they've been anonymous donations, that is)
