Having all our goalkeepers out of contract could be awkward, although I think DM will be one of the first players to be offered a new contract alongside Carl Baker. Otherwise, I think we'll offer new contracts to all of them apart from Bowditch and McLoughlin, although if we go up I'd have doubts about all the young ones staying on for the sake of freeing up wages.

Out of the ones under contract I'd also question whether we terminate Danny Green who surprisingly hasn't really done anything this season, Flanagan and Hitchcock also probably worth a thought there if we go up. Of the loanees I wouldn't be surprised if we try and sign Grigg after his loan ends. Would love Williams too, but somehow I don't think we can afford him...
I Wouldn't renew Bakers if you went up tbh

Under Contract
Paul Downing, Tom Bradshaw, Romaine Sawyers, Anthony Forde, James Baxendale, Andy Taylor, Sam Mantom, Jordan Cook, Rico Henry, Amadou Bakayoko, Liam Kinsella.

Loan
Michael Cain
Jordy Hiwula (I'd imagine he will be there until the end of the season now)

Out of Contract
Richard O'Donnell - Needs sorting this one does, been a very steady keeper for us after a shaky first season.

Ashley Grimes - Just poor really, he needs getting rid of. Smith's worst summer signing (aside from Manset).

Adam Chambers - Captain, will get another year. Not convinced myself, he's a proper crab and offers nothing going forward, need younger.

James Chambers - Steady centre back, I'd keep him as cover and sign someone younger.

Ben Purkiss - Been close to player of the season, definetely give him another year or 2.

Craig MacGillivray - I'd give him another year to grow and see if he can challenge O'Donnell should he stay.

James O'Connor - Get rid, not worth the wage he will be earning. Injury worry, average at centre back but woeful at right back.

Rhys Murphy - Only a youngster with potential, hard to comment.

Kieran Morris - Needs to develop and do so quickly or else he will find himself released. Not sure where Smith will go here.

Malvind Benning? - Not sure if his contract is up this summer or next. Get rid. Hasn't progressed. Isn't a left winger like Smith wants him to be and he is absolutely dire at left back, as York are finding out.

Reece Flanagan - Not sure, looked neat and tidy but hasn't really made an impression.

Of those, I'd we NEED to keep O'Donnell and Purkiss and I would keep James Chambers. Definetely get rid of Grimes and Benning, probably get rid of O'Connor and Adam Chambers. Unsure on Morris, Murphy and MacGillivray on the basis that they are young and we don't know much about them. Morris has looked good in flashes, but he's on loan at Wrexham currently.

I can't actually believe my eyes, but every young player with promise and potential and our entire best front 4 have another year on contracts :O

Thought Downing had another year Johnny?

I would. He's been outstanding since he signed, I'd give him at least a two year contract. Even in the Championship I think he'd stand out as one of our consistently best performers. We haven't had a player with his utility and consistence since Luke Chadwick's best years with us.

I know many will have cooled to Colclough given his long time out injured and his many misdemeanours, but if(and its a huge if) he can stay fit and not get into legal trouble, I think there is a decent player there.

I'd just be a bit wary about releasing him and him turning into a "one that got away" type player.

He's had more court appearances than first team appearances in the last 18 months, wouldn't complain if the club decided to get rid. He's got to be on a final chance now. If he has had injuries, be interesting to see if he's still the promising player he was; he looked like the next big thing at one point but two years is a long time to be out.

I think I'd only offer Grant and Tootle something, though I imagine Tootle will look elsewhere regardless. Also try and get Atkinson and Inman off the wage bill and build from there.

Out of Contract:
Eliott Omozusi, Gary Sawyer, Scott Cuthbert, Mathieu Baudry, Kevin Lisbie, David Mooney, Shaun Batt, Harry Lee, Josh Wright, Marvin Bartley, Chris Dagnall, Gianvito Plasmati, Andrea Dossena

Under Contract:
Adam Ledgzdins, Gary Woods, Romain Vincelot, Dean Cox, Lloyd James, Jobi McAnuff, Shane Lowry, Darius Henderson, Nathan Clarke, Bradley Pritchard, Jay Simpson

Loans to go back:
Alex Cisak & Luke O'Neil from Burnley and Ryan Hedges from Swansea.

ALL of the out of contract players are likely to go, because we're run like a circus. The only two I'd personally keep are Chris Dagnall and Scott Cuthbert because I don't think we will do better than those two. The rest can be replaced in League Two.

I thought Omozusi was a decent player. Always seemed to play well against us.
Did I get that badly wrong?

Curtis Thompson, Spencer, Noble and Adams. I'd count Murray if he somehow regained last season's form, Derry needs to give him a game first.

Billy Daniels scored on his debut then must have tragically perished or something, fuck knows where he disappeared to.

I'm still hoping that Spencer's return might mean we get Murray back as well, they were perfect as a partnership. That fucking injury basically cost us both of them for the season.

Of those out of contract i'd probably keep Carroll for another year and probably Garry Thompson too. Maybe Bajner and Mullins. Oh and i'd keep Dumbuya but Derry won't so it's a redundant argument.

I'd take Chris Dagnall at North End, no problem.

Mental how badly the management is doing with that squad, crazy Italian bastards.

Our out of contract players are:
Dave Richards
Marlon Pack
Wade Elliott
Jay Emmanuel Thomas
Aaron Wilbraham

Loans returns:
George Saville
James Tavernier
Matt Smith

I would like to retain the 4 outfielders, especially JET and perhaps a cheeky bid for Smith if he's available. The rest are under contract until at least 2016.

You think Pack will be good in the Championship if you go up? I would love him at Scunny but I doubt we would be able to get him if we were ever interested.

Pack has been superb lately, hoping he gets a good run in the team now.. Out of him and Elliot, I think I'd rather have pack of we were to go up to the champ.

I agree with Jon, Pack deserves a new contract. Proven himself a better option than Saville who is supposedly highly rated.

I thought that about Mooney too - always seems to score a decent amount if not amazing.

Omozusi is a good player, but he has to be motivated in order to bring the best out of him. This season, although he hasn't been the only one, he has given off that lazy attitude in games and has been at fault for a few goals.

David Mooney would be a good signing at this level for all clubs, but he is very frustrating and he loves a stray/wrong pass and he loves a dive - Although his diving reputation isn't viral yet as he isn't an arsehole about it, he usually gets up after a few seconds.

He'd walk into most teams at this level on his workrate alone.

Out of Contract :
Joe Martin, Leon Legge, Cody McDonald, Glenn Morris, Antonio German, Amine Linganzi, Gavin Hoyte, Devante McKain, Aaron Millbank, Danny Galbraith + maybe some of the youth team

Bradley Garmston, John Marquis, Max Ehmer

Under Contract:
Stuart Nelson, John Egan, Doug Loft, Jake Hessenthaler, Jermaine McGlashan, Aaron Morris, Josh Pritchard, Luke Norris, Callum Davies, Bradley Dack, Ben Dickenson + maybe some of the youth team

Cody McDonald has (thankfully) resigned on a two year deal, while Linganzi was released a week or so ago. Devante McKain and youth teamers Mahlon Romeo, Dan Bent, Aidan Blanchard, Charlie Webster and Josh Staunton have been told they're not getting new contracts today.

Our season coming to an end before others is a great thing IMO. Gives us a chance to evaluate the squad early, get rid of whoever JED doesn't want, and see what we need to have a proper crack at the play-offs next season. If we keep Dack and Egan over the summer, I think that's got to be the aim!

Baker was crap in the championship, top performer in L1 though. He'd be an okish squad player I guess if the wage is right. I don't think you will be going up anyway

With Dack under contract until 2018, any bid for him would have to be in the millions to even be considered. He will play in the Premier League one day and it won't be with us.

I honestly can't see Egan staying beyond the summer, he's way too good for League One. I just fear getting shafted for a fee as he's only got one year left on his contract.

I would keep Cuthbert, Baudry, Dagnall, and depending on a dramatic wage reduction Dossena. Of course, if we get relegated I would add Mooney, Omozusi, Sawyer, and Bartley to that list as in theory they would absolutely piss on League Two.

Mind you from the contracted guys I would only keep Vincelot, Cox, James, Simpson, and potentially McAnuff if he plays as he has done over the last month or so. The rest I would look to move on in the summer if at all possible... Legzdins and Pritchard especially. Henderson has two more years after this on a £10k - £12k p/w contract which given his age is simply unmoveable. Any idea what the record League Two wage for a player is?

Omozusi, he's a class full back, rightly had Championship interest in him last season... And then this season he has literally been non league standard.

Mooney is a good enough striker to do a decent job at this level, it just all seems to be a bit stale at the moment.
