I know it's the Mail, but it runs true with some of the things I've been hearing from the club and that he's Pete Winkelman's number 1 target. I don't know enough to be able to call it though, especially if Exeter end up going up. Would he leave no matter what when it looks like one of his main issues is that the club has been at standstill?

You'd be surprised how few people that actually work in the game care about the distaste for us. It sounds like he's interested.

Some people on Exeweb have said this rumour could have legs. I’m sceptical he will leave, but stranger things have happened.

As MK seem to be taking their time with the appointment, that adds more credibility to the rumour, as it looks like they may be waiting for the play offs to finish before making their move.

Another key thing is that Steve Perryman is retiring this summer and he’s been Tisdale’s RHM for 12 years so he may see it’s time to move on.

We shall see!

He’s definitely going to leave us. Majority of the fans don’t want him anymore, espesically after his pathetic article in the Times and him shouting at and abusing our fans after recent matches. His contract is up and that’s that. I can’t see him joining a club like MK though, he wouldn’t lower himself to that sort of club.

Tisdale has said in the past that his next job won't be in football. Then again, he's said a lot of things in the past that didn't quite turn out as expected.

It's clear to me that Tisdale has to feel that the club is right for him as well as the club feeling he's right for them and he would never be an Evans type journeyman who just chases the biggest pay packet. For instance, I know that he has been offered the Swindon job in the past but turned it down on the basis that Mr Power and he probably wouldn't work together very well.

It's difficult to think of another club where he would be afforded the time and autonomy that we've allowed him (rightly or wrongly) and would also be seen as a step up. I won't pretend to know anything much about the workings or politics of MK Dons but it's a move that doesn't feel right to me.

Time will tell but I'm struggling to see him still here next season. Too much water has flowed under the bridge this season and too many fans have become entrenched and immovable on either side of the divide. That feels like damage which can't be undone unless a new broom is allowed to sweep clean. Tisdale is a stubborn sod though so he might hang around just to annoy the "out" camp.

If Wankleman is promising Tisdale time, budget and a free reign over how the club is run it might just happen to suit his timescale.

This is the only time since the Swansea rumour (in 2013?) which I've felt has real plausibility and thats just because of the timing of Steve Perrymans departure and Tisdales rant in the Telegraph. I think at 3/1 odds or better I'd take that bet.

He’ll get you out this league if you give him the funds but he’s bloody awful tbh. Fallen out with owner and most of the fans have fallen out with him.

I think this has legs. I imagine he ticks boxes for MK. He knows league 2 inside out, and all the teams and their players and how they play, he has got us to the play offs in the last 2 seasons, he has performed on average over the 12 year period better than any previous manager in our history, and along with others has been instrumental in bringing players on through the youth system and making money for the club. Over the period he has had to build teams slowly due to financial constraints, but once built, the teams have been very good, and played attractive stuff. When we do well the better players leave and the process inevitably has to start again. I think he is sick of it and wants to try somewhere else with a bit more financial clout. As Devon Lad has said above, the relationship with a portion of the supporters is not great currently and maybe it is time. I will be sad to see him go but what will be will be and the foundations that have gone into the club over the last few years should give any successor a fighting chance.

My gut tells me this could be the end with ECFC and Tisdale. Can't help but think the Stevenage match and the animosity between the manager and sections of the support that occurred probably made up Tis' mind. It will be a real shame if it does end like this. I'm a fan of Tisdale and would certainly like him to stay but with things the way they are, I agree with the above and that maybe it is time.

The thing doesn't sit right with me is that after leading us through times where we were really struggling financially to probably the strongest position we've ever been in off the field, I've always felt he deserves the opportunity to take advantage of this and be the man to try and push us on. I'd be disappointed for him to leave now.

Tisdale is a fine coach but is hard work TBH.
I would be interested to know how vocal MK fans have been in the past when the team and/or the manager are performing badly, Tisdale has a pathological need to operate in an environment of near total acquiescence and positivity and does not take well to criticism at all. The fanbase at ECFC are as benign as it comes, yet his antipathy toward us is never far from the surface.
A good manager is Tisdale, but he is not without his flaws.
I hope he leaves us.

Feels really weird but I think it got to a point where his relationship with a fair proportion of the fans meant it was likely he’d leave. We’ve had some amazing times under him and we HAVE to make the correct appointment now.

We shouldn’t be scared of change and there’s plenty of young managers we should be looking at and not the typical journeyman manager e.g. Curle or Slade.

Exciting but crucial times ahead.

Had you gotten promoted either this year, or last. Would you have kept him? I've just read his contract was up in October.

Didn't want Tis to leave but I do think it was probably the right time for him to go. I wish him the best in his career and thank him for the great memories he's given us.

I'm expecting Matt Oakley to follow Tisdale.

For our next manager, I'd take Matt Taylor to be honest. Also like the idea of Steve Tully coming back or the ex Bangor manager Kevin Nicholson.

Keith Curle would be a good choice imo. Good manager knows this league well and is from the South West.

Looking from the outside, it's always amazed me how Tisdale was received by fans at City - I've never seen such a divide over a long-term manager before. I always felt that once he did leave, Exeter would take a hit for a year or two while they recover, but in this instance I actually feel they're in a good position and it does come at a good time. Financially they should be okay - assuming they'll never make the mistake of a two-year rolling contract again.

He's given them bloody good memories over the year (and us a terrible one), and rightly goes down as one of their greatest managers ever. Not a bad innings for someone who I imagine did not expect to be in the game for so long.

It'll certainly be interesting to see how things unfold this summer post Perryman/Tisdale, that's for sure. Am hoping Gary Owers has put his name forward though.

Well if Ainsworth gets a better offer in a higher division i'd take Tisdale as a replacement, from one fan owned club to another would be a perfect fit as he would understand the financial restrictions he'd have to put up with.

Oakley is a good footballer and reads the game well. Big opportunity for him to progress his career at this point in his life. I'd be happy with him.
