These things go in cycles.
We're due to resume the title of top dogs in Sheffield.
It'll make a change where we can finally play a season with little pressure or expectation.

Wednesday have gambled everything on a quick promotion. It's not worked so I expect they'll try to off load some of their high earners next season. Alan Pardew will have a tough job.

Obviously fucking gutted but looking on the positive side
Minuses
No Premier League (or the financial gains that come with it)
No £30 cap on away days
Plusses
A very northern league next season, plenty of big games still for us.
I have been to all the PL clubs but have never been to Sunderland
Return of the Sheffield Derby (might not be a positive after em)
We will win more games in this division
No worry of a relegation fight
We will finish above Sheffield United
We still seem to be heading in the right direction
In fact fuck the PL it will be shit without us anyway.

Good luck to Huddersfield in the final
That Quaner looked very good, would start with him at Wembley

You're sounding desperate. If you fail next season you're fucked, 10mill to shell out now haven't you for the mighty Rhodes. Another forest on the cards. You will beat us though twice with the current teams I'd of thought although 1 double in 100 years so maybe not

I actually wanted Sheff Wed to win it, but for the biggest c*** in English Football that is Forestieri to miss the deciding penalty was absolutely priceless.

Wonder what odds you'd get on a Reading vs Huddersfield final? I'm hoping for a Huddersfield victory, would be nice to have some Yorkshire back in the prem.

I think us and Wednesday are doomed forever to be bottlers, times have changed drastically, we are both shrinking in size too

Not if they're sensible and just cut their cloth...
Forest were haemorrhaging money without even spending in the transfer market, I'm sure Wednesday are in a better financial state.

Haven't seen Rhodes play much but he doesn't look like the best of purchases for that sort of money.

Not desperate but admittedly fucking gutted, genuinely feel Chansiri will not rest until we reach the PL. Certain we will finish above you next year, but nowhere near as confident about the Derby matches.
3 months of boredom, without even the consolation of watching England being shit to look forward to.
Roll on August.

I'm pretty certain you will finish above us too and so you fucking should be doing. For the amount of money you've spent and your squad on paper you've not looked owt special this year. Do you reckon Carlos will stay?

Huddersfield better over 2 legs. Hard not to smirk at characters like Forestieri when that sort of thing happens, don't like his attitude on the pitch.

Unlucky Wednesday - I'm sure you'll spend and go again.

Good luck Town in the final.

Fair play Hudders, I think you just about deserved that over the 2 legs (the first leg was dreadful though, really bad).
Go and win at Wembley now as it would be nice to see someone different in the Prem. If it's not us, why not Huddersfield eh?
Go on Terriers. :2thumb:
On Tom Daley, sorry Forestieri, yes, he's a hateful cheating git but we would all want him in our respective teams. If he cut all the falling over out he would be awesome but he was soooo frustrating to watch last night as a neutral.

Not sure about Carlos staying, I think he got his tactics wrong in the 1st leg. Never attempting to score when they had their 2nd string keeper was very odd.
If he could gel last seasons attacking flair, with this seasons resolute defending then yes he should stay.
It's getting that balance right which is the difficult thing, much to defensive on too many occasions this season for my liking though.
I personally would keep him, but reasess the situation after 7 or 8.
If we're not close to the top or playing attractive football then, it would probably be the time to go.
What we don't need is a knee jerk reaction and bringing in someone less capable as a replacement.
If he does go we have to bide our time our time and bring in the right man to replace him.

Wow, still hasn't sunk in. 90 minutes away from the Premier League. 13 years ago we were in League Two and the club nearly went bust. I stupidly believed Chris Powell when he said we could only achieve so much in this division, and could never compete with the big spenders at the top... thankfully Dean Hoyle did not, and here we are, so close to the dream I genuinely thought I'd never see in my lifetime.

Credit to Wednesday because as far as I've seen they've classy throughout and accepted a very tough defeat graciously last night. Could've been very different in extra time with Ward's save from Rhodes and Hef's block from Forestieri. But I think we edged it, losing that would've been heartbreaking, we couldn't have given a single ounce of more effort in either leg, that's all we can ask for.

I think ourselves and Reading are just gonna enjoy the next few days before worrying about the final! Last season's 17th vs 19th, incredible.

Try losing a final, actually don't try it!
That took a long time to get over, bastard Windass. :ffs:
I was surprised by Wednesday TBH as they looked a bit one dimensional at times IMHO. That may be to 'Udders credit that they stopped them but Wednesday are better than they showed over the 2 legs.
I'm just glad the Huddersfield who played at our place didn't turn up as you looked like a totally different side last night.

Our record at Wembley is atrocious and I have no reason to believe it will change this time around.

Well done both Reading and Huddersfield, I bet not even their own fans envisaged either of them making the play-off final after last season.

But I seriously think it will only be two relegation places we need to worry about next season - barring a miracle, the step-up will be a bridge too far for either of them as one's defence won't be good enough and the other won't score enough goals to keep them up. (Of course, these words will come back to bite me if/when we finish bottom!) But enjoy the adventure as best as you can, whichever of you go up and whatever happens...

I wanted Sheffield Wednesday to go up, good support, big club. I would much prefer Huddersfield to go up than Reading, both small clubs but Huddersfield at least have had some real footballing tradition and success in the past so the top flight would be like the old days to them.
I'm not having a dig but what has 'tradition' got to do with who rises into Prem James? As far as I'm concerned, tradition is history and whoever gets up is adding another page to theirs. My team haven't sat at the top table since 1980 but that shouldn't really have any bearing on whether we ever get promoted or not should we ever be in that position.
I very much doubt there are any Huddersfield supporters alive who remember their success (they would be over 100) so, once again, isn't it irrelevant?

Absolutely gutted fair play to Huddersfield and good luck in the final. Think Blades fans are getting a little bit giddy (understandably) at the prospect of us blown our chance, this was always a building project and I'd like to think with a few tweaks over the summer we could progress again, would like Carlos to stay but I think he'll go back to Portugal. Pretty much every team in this league would love a 10M Jordan Rhodes in their team let's be reyt, next season we'll see the best of him.

I agree with most of that and fair play for being magnanimous in defeat but I wasn't impressed with Rhodes last night (watching on the tele, obviously). Given his supposed wages (£50K a week?) and fee (£10M), if you were to spend that, would you still buy Rhodes after seeing him play for you?

Everyone would love a Rhodes of 3 years ago but he hasn't done a lot for a while now has he. You'll be challenging at the top next year again but with the amount you've spent and will spend you've got to be looking at the top two anything lower is underachieving imo.

The fee is inflated of course as it is for most players in England these days, but he's a proven goal scorer and still at a good age so for me it's more a case of finding a way to provide more for him as I think him and Hooper could be a lethal partnership next season. The deal was effectively done in January but the money won't go in the books until the summer to get around FFP, very clever chairman.

Only just had time to come around from last night. What a night, unfortunately it had to come down to penalties - awful when you're on the losing side but brilliant on the winning. Been surprised over the last 2 games against Wednesday, they've been more hoofball than of previous. Don't expect Rhodes to bang them in next season if you're just going to launch it to his head. He needs someone to do the dirty work and he can do the smart work and put the ball in the net. He's a bottlejob not wanting to take a penalty though. As for the two games, thought we edged it personally and Mariner tried his damnest to give home advantage. Wednesday will be up there next season, no doubt about it.

As for the final, can't call it. Just a privilege to be involved in the richest game in football.

Sky Sports are gutted there's no Fulham v Wednesday final.

Let's hope you can find the way to feed him Liam as he looked nothing like a £10M player to be honest. Someone needs to light a spark for the lad as he used to be top quality but looks a bit lost at the mo.
