Can only think all 4 managers still going for automatics will look at this and use it as motivation to avoid them.

It could play in tranmeres hands.

MK and Mansfield are and we’re expected to be up there, bury were to degree also and with their financial issues league 1 football might help slightly, whereas Tranmere have done excellently in their first season but the expectation wasn’t as high of them and they’ve got a free go - failure to gain promotion would be a failure for Mansfield and MK but not for them this season.

The hand only feeds cos of the Championship. Sky don't give a fuck about League 2. So why not continue to not give a fuck for the playoffs.

Doubt they'll get big viewing figures anyway so might as well have them on Saturday. Have them both on at 5:30 if you have to televise them and stick them on the red button. The people that would watch them on the Thursday/Friday or whatever would still tune in.
Exactly. These games are just filler for Sky: something to stick in a dead slot between the J-League and Finnish wrestling.

Play offs will be interesting, Exeter, Mansfield, Bury and MK have all been stuttering a bit lately as have FGR on and off. Tranmere have had an incredible run since Feb to get in them so might sneak the autos.

If it comes down to MK v Mansfield last day of the season for the last auto spot, then that's effectively another playoff final in itself which you would think most supporters would want to attend in case its automatic promotion. Whichever club fails will likely finish 4th and be away the first leg (against 7th) then home on the Sunday.

Lots of ifs, buts, and maybes...but that's going to be a very expensive week for MK or Mansfield supporters should that scenario come about. Not to mention a potential Wembley final a couple of weeks later.

It’ll remain to be seen if we get anywhere close to what Lincoln took to you, but there’s been unprecedented interest in that game, but the picture will becomes clearer after Easter I suppose on where the land lies on promotion spots.

I’m lucky that I get 30 days holiday at work (plus BH) but I’ve still only 1 left over spare until July so no idea how that ones going to work if in the playoffs.

A loss for us at Stevenage on Monday and I can’t see us getting the play offs, which is ridiculous considering the position we were in before the Crawley game.

We’re not ready, or good enough to go up anyway so not too fussed if we miss out.

This would be our third time in the last three years. F*cking hate it.

We've been promoted via playoffs before but only once I think. Our track record at wembley is abysmal. About 15% win rate I think.... :ffs:
Likewise. Two seasons back I went to Aldershot on a weekday night, and last season we were given the reprieve of an away game thanks to the national league's underrated new playoff format that genuinely rewards finishing higher up the table.

For the first time since scholes left the play offs are in our own hands.

Win all remaining fixtures and we are in there.

Of the chasing pack - given our form and goal difference we have a very favourable chance. Newport and Exeter away still to play

Seriously, how are we still in the play offs with one win in six!?

It’s out of our hands with Newport’s game in hand but all we can do is try to beat Oldham and hope Lincoln do us a favour against the Exiles.

Its mental that Exeter in 7th are relying on other results, yet oldham in 12th have it in our own hands

Looking more and more likely we'll be playing Tranmere in the playoffs, both teams certain to finish top 6 and unlikely to catch the top 4.

I'd take that tbf.

Looks that way. Hopefully we’ve learnt from our mistakes. We need to put in a huge shift early on in the first fixture and make sure we don’t go behind so that FGR are forced to attack us. If we can do that, I think we win. Going into the second leg a goal behind would be the stuff of nightmares!

I’m not even sure which would benefit us the most. At home first to gain some home advantage early on, or away first where there’s less pressure from a smaller crowd.

If there’s a god, please let us finally get some revenge. Not sure I can handle another 10 pages of complaining about underhand tactics!

If we beat Exeter on Saturday I will start to believe.
If we lose on Saturday that will surely be the end of our chances....Need to win and hope Newport drop points so that it’s in our hands at FGR on the final day.

Also hoping that Forest Green won’t be in with a shot of the top 3 so that they’ll rest some key players for the play offs.

That's about where I'm at. You just know we will beat both Exeter and Newport and get beat by Northampton, although we do owe them one from the final day last year

They played for the draw, at home, when it meant nothing to them, just because we needed a win to stay up.

Worth remembering.

We are the only team definitely confirmed in the playoffs.

Tranmere will be confirmed on Tuesday, with one of Mansfield and MK being guaranteed as well. Last spot is in Newport's hands, but very tight between 5 teams.

Bury could still miss out on autos, if they lose both games. Unlikely of course, but they're still in this thread too.

How empty would Wembley be with any combination of teams currently holding top 7 spot?

Can’t imagine we’d take more than 15k when it’d be our third year there in a row, though now back in the proper leagues it may appeal more to the Liverpool fans with Tranmere mates.

Funnily enough, I think MK Dons would take the biggest following to Wembley. Their support is a bit flaky, but they do attract good crowds for big games, and they have a lot of families who watch them. Plus they are local to Wembley and have only played there once before.

Be interesting to see how many we would take for a third visit in three seasons. Think it was around 17k first season, 14k last season. Like to think we’d take around 17k again.

Yeah we're weird like that, I'm still genuinely amazed how we managed to get 33000 in the 'MK' end at Wembley for the Checkatrade final in 2008. Perhaps some of them got paid, because giving out free tickets doesn't get anywhere near that (the club have tried since).

The last time we’ve experience of Wembley we took 15,000 for the day trophy final loss to Darlington where we lost 1-0 in the last minute of extra time.

Fans had either left, fallen asleep, committed suicide, or any combination of the 3 mentioned before the game ended.
