Without getting into a slanging match - FGR fans have hardly covered themselves in glory in recent yeard.
Agree totally, Cheltenham fans trying to smash the doors in at the Nailsworth Social Club wasn't that good...neither was the incident in Cheltenham town centre when some Rovers fans apparently went on the rampage in the Promenade, although the pictures circulated of the event showed a Police van parked up with not a human (Police officer, football fan or random member of the public) visible.

Good luck to both.

Preference for me is Northampton - mainly based on location but it'd be nice to see a couple of ex-Imps get promoted in Oliver and Wharton. I think Exeter will do it, mind.

Northampton seem to either win or lose, which is fine during a season but in one-off games not so much. You only have to look at the extremes in the performances against Cheltenham.

I would miss Exeter as they usually bring a decent following to our ground and, despite it being a West Country derby, behave impeccably (a number of teams more local to us, I won't name them...oh go on I hear you say, Cheltenham and Oxford...have let themselves down seriously on previous visits), and we usually have a really good game when we play them.

We haven't even been in the same league as you for a decade or so, and I can't remember any trouble at your place when we did visit. You must have a very long (or very warped) memory.

Unless you include us having about three quarters of the total attendance and the home fans being kept in your own ground at the end of the game so that we could disperse. That's just plain embarrassing!!!

Long memory, definitely not warped through the passage of time, and it was the game you mentioned when your fans outnumbered ours by about two to one.

Some bright spark at our club had the idea that they could increase the attendance by giving the away team two whole blocks in the main stand, with the home supporters, but only put a couple of stewards in to try and maintain segregation...in a stand where that was never likely to be possible.

The real problem was an idiot sat among the home fans, not far from me, who during the game stood up (facing the Oxford fans) and opened his jacket to reveal a Swindon shirt...as you might guess that was like red rag to a bull, literally!!! He legged it out of the back of the stand, never to be seen again, and after that the atmosphere was interesting, to say the least.

I have been in a couple of grounds, admittedly not in the UK, where the home fans have been kept in after the final whistle to allow the away fans to disperse...but can't remember that being the case.

Like to see Exeter win it - but I reckon Northampton will shithouse their way to win.

So actually the problem was one of the "home" fans.

I do recall the incident and it was very typical Swindon behaviour, reveal himself and then he's on his toes! As a fanbase OUFC are no angels, but I really can't recall any trouble involving Forest Green, so was surprised by your comment.

I see that the players respected Theo Foley before the game started. In the 1970s when he was Manager of Charlton they used to do their training in Avery Hill Park, Eltham and then he used to come over to the other side of the park and take us for our games session. Bit weird being trained by Charlton’s Manager, but he needed the money, it did not pay then what it does now. So full time football manager and part time PE teacher at the same time.

Really strong start from Northampton. Just seem to be outrunning Exeter at the moment and getting balls into the box at every opportunity. Whether this style will work in the league above is a question mark but they do what they do well.

Exeter need to just try and get a period of possession or something just to get them into the game.

Men against boys this.

How many League 2 promotions will this be for Nicky Adams?
I think Carlisle are the only club he didn’t get promoted out of this league with.

Not good enough that from Bowman, needed to be way more decisive than that.

About the only positive can say for Exeter is they are lucky it’s still only 2-0 and just about still in this as they’ve been battered from start to finish.

One of the most one sided playoff finals can remember this.

Very much so, can’t get how Morton has been, he battles and is a real handful yet looked like bambi against us in Feb! Probably the worst striker we faced on the day, very much changed my opinion from that game!

I cannot believe how aerially dominant we have been. Should be more than 2-0. Bowman should have at least had a clear shot also. Can’t afford to sit back. Just more of the same. COME ON TOWN

That was really dumb from Moxey. Rightly sent off. Think that’s the end of any hope for Exeter now.

Red card makes it game over.

congratulations Northampton. Deserved it for the last 2 performances.

Fair play to Keith Curle. Didn’t think he was capable of leading a team to promotion.

Those watching on TV, was the sending off correct? The commentators on BBC Radio Devon think not. Indeed, they believe there was an earlier foul against Northampton not given.

As traditional as Abide With Me and Harry Redknapp claiming to have come close to signing someone, Exeter bottle job in the playoffs.

There was possibly a foul (few arms swinging around) a few seconds earlier. But Moxey had to go, it was a disgusting challenge.

He ploughed right through the player, don't think the studs were up but it was from behind and full blooded.

There is absolutely no doubt it was a red card. Shocking tackle. As for earlier foul possibly but even so Moxey just totally lost his head.

Local station thinks their player should have not been sent off eh?

That is a surprise ..

BBC Northampton probably say it was the worse tackle ever etc.

Wonder if loads of Northampton fans will be out on the streets celebrating!

3-0 and that will do it.

Congratulations to Northampton and their fans on here. About as good a couple of performances as you can get they’ve strung together.

Its a bit of a piss take for Keith Curle to previously mock the likes of us playing longball under the Cowleys the first couple of seasons, watching how direct the Cobblers are. However at least we won’t have to put up with the total wealth of footballing knowledge that is Devon_Lad.

Congrats Cobblers though.
