Huge game this for the Vale as they look to continue their impressive home form this season against lowly Morecambe.

Vale will feel confident but also well aware that Morecambe have kept 4 clean sheets in their last 4 visits to Vale Park seeing Vale pick up a solitary point (in contrast with Vale raining in goals at the Globe Arena!)

Last season Morecambe's keeper produced a world class performance to keep Vale out who then suffered a sucker punch in a smash and grab and Vale will be keen to right that tomorrow.

Vale still have injury problems although these seem to be easing with Rhys Browne set to return and new signing Will Atkinson likely to feature, however one of Vale's best performers this season James Gibbons is suspended which may see Atkinson fill in or Kieron Kennedy slot in.

Vale will have to decide if to stick with Tom Pope for this one or revert to top scorer Richie Bennett, with Amoo and potentially Browne or Worrall either side.

Its a game Vale need to be winning based on form and have a feeling tomorrow we will. 2-0 Vale Worrall, Pope

On paper yes we should probably win this given our home record and their poor form. I suspect this is going to be a lot more difficult than some may think it is and would not surprise me if Morecambe frustrate us for long periods and maybe even got a result. Bentley is a good manager and will have them organised.

Hopefully we get a bit more luck than the game at VP last season where they committed daylight robbery. Looking back that was the first glimmer though of things improving under Askey performance wise at least if not the result that day.

We need to win, no doubt about it. These are here for the taking, but in this instance we usually come out of the blocks slowly and struggle to break them down. I'll take a 1-0 now, but someone is going to get a spanking one of these days.

Got to go for the win here, with Bennett starting up front and Pope being an impact sub if needed. This could be the game where it all clicks.

3-0 Bennett Amoo and Worrall

Bring pope and or archer on around 70 min mark depending on how the game is going. Morecambe have good attacking players leitch Smith lewis alesandra shaun miller and Kevin Ellison. Infact both miller and alesandra have good goal scoring records against us. Our record at home to morecambe is poor aswell won 2 drew 1 loss 4 and failed to score in our last 4 at home to them. Also morecambe haven't won in 10 games and we are good at giving teams on that kind of run a result. I'm hoping we win and expect us to win but wouldn't be surprised if we lost.

I really can’t stand morecambe, always shitty bitty games, and we rarely beat them.
Last years home demise had me questioning whether to go again.
A flukey 1 nil away win.

The good news for us is that keeper who put in one of the all time great goalkeeping performances against us last season doesn’t seem to get a game at the moment.

Would definitely start Bennett for this game, he has far superior pace to Pope certainly and that is what will worry them more.

Yeah that's why I put bennett in my line up that and the fact he has 4 goals this season. I think if that keeper from last season isn't playing then Barry Roche will who is a good experienced goalkeeper.

True, Roche must be getting on in years now. Feels like he’s been playing forever. Then again Morecambe also have Kevin Ellison in the team so would seem a spring chicken in comparison.

I’d go Amoo and Browne out wide for this one. Really have a go and with Breakspear reffing see if they can get their full backs in trouble with their pace.

Complete and utter garbage that was. Really hate playing this lot, always have the measure of us.

Don’t know what their player was sent off for but if it was an off the ball incident then that’s a bit daft with the referee and linesman right near by.

As predictable as the rise of the sun the Vale get sucker punched by Morecambe at home! Stunning goal to be fair but we’ve been absolutely gash and need to change it.

Cranston was a complete idiot for them and their main threat to see red. Doing that in front of Breakspear was suicide.

Fail to win this and there will be no hiding places.

Need to go 2 up front now as this isn't working. The red was right in front of me, but I missed it. Get Bennett on asap.

This is a big test of Askey now, he needs be proactive in changing things up and quickly. Morecambe will now just stick everyone behind the ball (quite rightly). Everything was far too slow first half, exactly why I’d have started Bennett.

Job done eventually! Early goal second half was key and a great strike by Joyce then was just a case of when they second would come.

Third was icing on the cake after their left back tried to dump Bennett on his arse in the corner only to boot it against him deflecting into the area for Pope. Funny goal that.

Plenty to work on but another good win and into the top ten.

Good second half, made use of the extra man well. Think Bennett coming on made a huge difference up top. Sets us up well for Macc next week.

Would like to see Pope and Bennett start together at Macc. Looked really dangerous. Well done to Askey today as well. Got it spot on at half time with he sub and shape change.

11 v 11 I genuinely don't think we'd of won.
As poor as we've been all season in the first half. No tempo and pedestrian.
Cranston has won us that game.
Positive sub at half time but one we had to make .
Can't argue with 3 points as our home form continues to be decent.
Got away with it today

Hard to say really, they scored a worldie and that was all they offered but we were very laboured and slow on the ball, I felt confident we’d get a chance or two that we’d take but the man lighter made it more easier certainly.

We lost that game 1-0 last season and it shows the options that we have are better and we are finally scoring goals! 11 in 4 in all comps now!

Relieved to get the win though and Cranston must have a screw lose to do that when your struggling yet 1-0 up. Was their only real threat too.

Got to agree there Darren, they looked loads sharper than us up til the red card.
Still, we beat them tinpot shithouse wankers.
I really hate them.
There’s some teams whose fans on here have softened my indifference towards them.
This fucking lot aren’t one.
Get fucking relegation and don’t come back.

Bit harsh, they finished above us last season for a start! They do what they do well, grind out enough points to stay up and isn’t pretty and you know when you host them it won’t be pretty.

If we don’t want to keep that company it’s up to us to get out this league the right way and whilst here we have to face teams that will come and make home games a grind, been the same most L2 seasons, Stevenages, Morecambes, clubs on smaller budgets but fighting to the death to stay up.

In fairness a decade ago Morecambe actually had a couple of decent years. Going to likely catch up with them eventually but may stay up with only one going down and Stevenage still winless, looks one from the two assuming Scunny get their arse into gear.

Got a couple of decent players Morecambe but defensively looked meh today. Look at Popes second, not a man near the best aerial man in the lower leagues!

Credit to Ellison for still going mind. Huge ask though asking him to come on when your a man down! Having to chase from side to side as we utilise the extra man!

As for Pope, got bashed big time by fans at times but still has it. Get him support and he’s still lethal, Bennett and Pope looked alright together today. Could the new found energy in midfield with Taylor allow us a 4-4-2 against 11 I wonder.

I really would caution against 4-4-2, is just a license for teams to pack the midfield and overrun us. Today was different up against 10 men. As a change up option I like it but otherwise would be wary.

Having seen the red card back Cranston should be ashamed with that. Has probably cost his team 3 points with a moment of sheer stupidity. Rightly dismissed.

I don't mind Morecambe, and I thought they played well until they were reduced to ten. Cranston was possibly their best player until the red, but what on earth was he thinking?

Against the poor sides we should have two up top though at home as the lone striker just gets isolated, the difference when Bennett came on was chalk and cheese. Maybe even a 3-5-2 against teams that won’t look to attack us.
