This must be one of the most subdued build up to a Crewe Vs Port Vale game in a long time. Both teams look comfortably set for another season in league two and have nothing to really look forward too. Can't remember the last time I missed a Crewe Vs Vale game but I'm struggling for the motivation to get to this one, and I've got a feeling I'm not alone in thinking that. I believe 850 odd tickets were sold midday yesterday, so probably only 1200-1300 odd will travel.

We do have a good record at Vale park and our away form this year has been pretty decent, only one loss since new year's Day, and that was a tight 1-0 at Tranmere.

Port Vale 1-2 Crewe (Worral, Porter, Ainley) 6,440 (1220 Crewe)

This game has gone a bit under the radar with the positive news off the field this week but looking forward to just focusing on the football Saturday with protests stopped pending the sale of the club and ground.

On the field we should be absolutely buzzing after last weekend's domination of Northampton second half despite being down to ten men and the turnaround so should be up for this at least.

Might well be safe already but a win here would rubber stamp it for us, hopefully we can put in the levels of performance we have under Askey since the beginning of March, do that and I fancy us to complete a rare double over the Alex. We've gone from some dire efforts in February to arguably the best football we've played since the League One spell but are due a shitter in there Vale being Vale.

Only change will likely be enforced in Howkins for Legge, not sure if Pope will come in for Miller or not.

Three points, on the beach for another summer, a draw virtually job done.

Got tickets a couple of weeks ago but now going reluctantly. A dead rubber with a side show of the finest Vale and Crewe great unwashed cretins. Meh.

Its become more of a ball ache to be honest with that I agree! Searches at the turnstiles, keeping fans back and chavs making a dick of themselves. Hopefully we can just enjoy a good game and not be talking about that at the end.

Would have been hell of a lot more interesting if Vale hadn't picked up some the points they needed and were fighting to stay in the football league... Had many great days at Vale but getting relegated from League 1 at Vale Park still haunts me.

Still, Vale need 3/4 more points to be safe and Crewe will certainly want to return the favour after Vale won the reverse fixture. I actually thought Apsin got his tactics spot on that day.

Call it a derby, rivalry or whatever you want - it's the fixture both set of fans look for at the start of the season.

Echo the thoughts of everyone else here, got a real meh feel to it. Although, I do want us to right the wrongs of that first game, which seemed like such a feeble effort, something that is inexcusable in this fixture.

Glad the walking liability in Ray is out, don't mind Nolan and Hunt holding the fort at the back. I'd take a point happily from this one.

Dave doesn’t half rattle the feathers of Vale fans. See he’s talking the talk again, saying if we play like we can we should win no matter what. If we win he’s a genius, if we lose we look silly.

Reckon we’ll lose. 2-0 Vale, Miller and someone else.

Difficult to drum up any enthusiasm for this one. I can't see vale getting relegated from here and Crewe have got nothing to play for.

Crewe have done pretty well in all honesty after a pretty terrible start to the season. I recall a lot of doom and gloom amongst their fans but they've picked up a fair few wins, so won't be easy. They've been pretty up and down since Christmas, with some good results interspersed with poor defeats.

We need to start better than last week as we were asleep first half. A slow start has been a common problem for us. I expect a draw to be honest, which would be ok.

I’m mistaken, that was an Alex Morris interview, bit odd :dk:

To be fair its just standard Crewe with delusions of grandeur, it gets spouted most times we meet in some way or another.

Stick it in the dressing room if we have any sense team talk done. Find it quite amusing to be honest.

If we both play how we have in patches then it should be a decent footballing game which would be a decent spectacle.

Shackles should be off for both sides so looking forward to a good game.

There'll be the usual antics from Artell, the injury feigning from Crewe and the accusations that if we beat them (a big if) we 'bullied' them and it had zero to do with being the better footballing team on the day.

2-2 is my prediction with 6050 (1100 Crewe).

Coach says we can win a game = delusions of grandeur.

Tbh, seeing Vale fans blood pressure explode due to Artell is about as exciting as it’ll get tomorrow.

The game comes at a good time for us so no excuses if we lose. No reason why both teams shouldn't have a go, so I'm expecting a decent match to be honest.

To be honest he is seen as a bit of a laughing stock by Vale fans due to his implosions. Can't say I know who the comedy character is he is portrayed as though form an old TV show!

You can admit he gets on your tits. He’s pissed off every other club’s fans at some point this season, Crewe included. Whether he does it on purpose I’m not sure, personally think it’s his way of “protecting” the players at all costs. I quite like tha he just spouts the same shit fans spout. The half-built stand with all the gammons are bound to enjoy his company tomorrow. Never forget some guy in that stand throwing his glasses at a linesman after we scored one year. He may get sent off if they’re lucky.

I think it’ll probably be a score draw. Can’t see there being too many chances. Bowery will balloon one or two into the Britannia and Porter will rack up double figures in the offsides. Whether the likes of Kirk & Ainley (and Lowery, Dale off the bench late on) turn up will have a big say on our chances.

Sold 1025 tickets now. On sale til 3, then pay on the day. It's rubbish but will probably be the usual 1200-1300 which isn't bad for us considering it's a dead rubber.

Just got to keep doing what we have been. We aren't a poor side but have been poorly managed and its shown up now Askey has sorted fitness, a system and identity and got players in who were frozen out under Aspin. Love Aspin and will always be a legend but jesus what was he doing with this squad!

Hopefully we keep the levels up, it would be easy to think job done so a local rival should keep minds focused. Crewe have had their upturn a few weeks before ours but we seem to be peaking at the moment and hopefully sets up for a good game.

If we can win it would be the best week for a while at the club after the stunning come back last weekend and then the midweek news that our future should soon be resolved.

Isn't bad that, more than you generally bring isnt it?

It has so far been a good week for Vale with an unlikely away win with 10 men and hopefully the beginning of the end for Smurf (Smexit), so lets hope we can top it off with a win against the railway children to almost guarantee safety.
We have been playing more attractive football under Askey, which could make this game a good one.

Two form teams, Crewe with little to play for barring pride, and we are more or less safe, although, I feel a win would seal it.

Same team as last week hopefully, with Pope on the bench to replace Miller on 70 minutes when hes run out of steam.

Its got draw written all over it, which wouldn't be a bad result at all, but I'm going to stick my neck out for a 2-1 home win.

That safety message from both clubs is tragic. It's Vale Vs Crewe not Fenerbache Vs Galatasaray

Didn't think there was too much issue in September but guess the EFL want to see us covering our arses after the scenes in April?

Surely the plod have put them up for that? It’s tragic. Chances of trouble tomorrow are slim.

Trouble is usually easier to control at VP as the away fans come out into the open car park which is fenced off to be honest whereas at Crewe it’s all side streets.

Our fans have different interests at the moment far bigger than this game. I.e. Norman

Think we always bring about 1200-1400, bar the game we got relegated.
The thing is we always seem to be away at Vale at a point in the season where there’s little riding on it. If we hadn’t have lost so many silly games after Macclesfield we’d be looking at a big following.
