Trouble is usually easier to control at VP as the away fans come out into the open car park which is fenced off to be honest whereas at Crewe it’s all side streets.

Our fans have different interests at the moment far bigger than this game. I.e. Norman
I can’t speak for other Crewe fans, but as a Stokie, walking down Hamil Road after the game can be tense as an away fan. There’s also the game when we won thanks to a dubious penalty when your lot penned us in the car park, trying to get at us pelting us with bricks and coins.

The thing is we always seem to be away at Vale at a point in the season where there’s little riding on it. If we hadn’t have lost so many silly games after Macclesfield we’d be looking at a big following.
Your probably right, even if we had won last week, I think another 500 would have travelled

See my previous post...

And for the record, we definitely have.

Not in the past couple of decades! Maybe 2001/02 but unsure even on that.

Got the fencing now though after the Wolves trouble.

Its never been that big for trouble that I recall bar your fans twatting Hornby and that 2010 game really. Nothing like the Shrewsbury games used to be like, to be honest Barnsley, Wolves far worse and the Lardies... can’t see you lot trashing our bogs!

Seems OTT which will make it a shitter experience.

Challenge accepted. Just had a naughty curry.

Also had a vindaloo too so that'll be two of them out of action for good if nature runs its course.

Literally only going tomorrow because it's down the road and that's it. I'm just arsed about my beer tomorrow and couldn't care less how it ends. Vale aren't going down and we're not going up so incoming bore 0-0 draw, fans so drained from boredom that they all piss off home quickly after the final whistle and I'll be back in the Imp having a few jars watching the FA Cup Semi Final. Jobs a good'un.

Still not sure if to go or not. I just can't see it being anything other than dull. Plus it's not a great away day anyway.

Been forced into three changes today. Losing Luke Joyce is a big blow as he has really thrived under Askey and doubt Kay will be able contribute a fraction of what he has done.

Mega blow as Kay hasn’t the legs to do the high press.

Slows us down. Monty and Hanno is like for like and Howkins is adequate for Legge, in fact one monster for another.

Worried by Kay though it’s too negative.

Sure he'll crack in a screamer out of nowhere a la last year.

Artell has gone with the same team as Mansfield. Now we'll see if it was a one off or a newfound tactical master plan.

Aye the other two changes are ok though prefer Montano as an option off the bench.

Would rather we have gone completely left field with Edser or something like that. The Sproson statue would give us more movement than Kay.

No Kirk or Ainley? Not much pace or attacking prowess in that side.

Good as with Kay it’s like a combined harvester rolling around the middle!

I’d have played Pope in this.

I think based on the posts above at best we are all getting a scrappy 1-0 either way aren’t we?

At best. I’d have fancied Worrall to murder Hunt but even if he does who can he hit with the cross?

Would say we’ve had the better of the play overall. Great save from their keeper from a Kay header.

That said we got fortunate with clearing one off the line a few minutes before half time.

Lot of errors today but we should be ahead with Conlon having a glorious chance from six yards out.

Brown hasn’t had anything of note, Crewe knock it around ok but as yet haven’t had any end product.

Worrall and Monty having good games but losing Manny is a massive blow, hope it’s precautionary. Two of the three missing now so need a big game from Kay and Hannant.

With how badly Crewe defend corners Pope must come on!

Bloody shite that. Should be losing. Frustrating seeing all that talent on the bench as well, zero creativity.

More than deserved victory in the end and could and probably should have been more. Pope brought on at exactly the right time and they struggled to contain him. Another energetic performance from Worrall on the right. What a turnaround now he has a manager who believes in him.

Get in! The Pontiff off the bench to score the winner! Made it a lot harder than it had to be with multiple missed chances but fully deserved. Time for th the beach surely!

Can’t wait to hear what shit Artell comes out with after that!

Nothing more than we deserved. Absolutely fucking dreadful today, play our best players ffs Artell.

Fair play to Vale, Askey has turned it around superbly. Good performance from you.

I can't work out if Artell is actually making the right decisions selection wise and is just being let down by the players, or if he's a fraud who sometimes stumbles onto starting XI's that just happen to work.

I mean, I would rant and rave at him for not starting anyone with any creativity, but given Kirk's seemingly limp performances and Ainley's hit and miss nature, I can't exactly blame him.

I can't wait for the season to be over. The players are seemingly on the beach, so let's just get through these final few games as painlessly as possible. As long as we beat last seasons points total, that's all I care about, don't care how we do it.

Well done to the Vale. Sounded like the better team throughout and thoroughly deserved winners by all accounts. See you next season, where we can hopefully put in something resembling a decent effort, not the 2 piss poor excuses for performances we managed this season.

4 centre mids today, absolutely ludicrous tactics. It’s simple, play Kirk and Ainley or at least Dale, they tear defenders apart. Today was a walk in the park for Vale. Can’t even remember us having a shot.
