We've announced our opposition very early. Pretty much what you'd expect, nothing exciting.

Tuesday, July 16 (7.30pm): Matlock Town (away)
Saturday, July 20 (3pm): Rotherham United (home)
Tuesday, July 23 (7.30pm): Sheffield United (home)
Wednesday, July 24 (7.30pm): Sheffield FC (away)
Saturday, July 27 (3pm): Burton Albion (home)

Looking forward to Matlock away. Was a shame we didn’t arrange one with them last pre season as it’s always a good day out

long time since i've been there - maybe 20 years... So memory's going a bit - Is their ground the one with a cricket pitch next door?

"He's only here for pre-season, here for pre-seeeason..."

Funny you should mention that as I'd been playing this all season without much luck and then only the other week I found him (definitely NOT anything to do with Chesterfield winning a few games recently)

Yep that's the one. More famously known for me winning the Rowsley and District Youth League U11's Cup final there in c.1993, coming back from 1-0 down at half time to win 5-1.

All credit to me.

going back 20 or more years ago one of our fans in the ignorance of youth made up a load of ticker tape to throw when the teams came out - the wind took it onto the cricket square and their groundsman was furious...

There's a rumour we asked Rangers for a friendly as part of the transfer deal which saw our goalkeeper join them in January.

We were meant to have another pre-season game abroad, but that fell through.

Shame as 400+ Darlo in Ibiza would have been absolutely unreal, not to mention chaotic.

With one notable exception, ours are about standard for us so far:

6th July: HOME vs Peterborough Sports
9th July: HOME vs Ely City
13th July: HOME vs Biggleswade United (in the Hunts FA Premier Cup, whatever that is)
16th July: HOME vs Lincoln City
18th July: HOME vs St. Neots Town (also in the Hunts FA Premier Cup)
20th July: AWAY vs Eynesbury Rovers (Hunts FA Premier Cup again)
23rd July: AWAY vs Deeping Rangers

I imagine we'll have some more planned for the end of July/start of August, otherwise there could be quite a gap before our first competitive match.

I'm excited about it, though I'm not at all sure how we've gotten a friendly against a team as big as Lincoln. I did hear that they had some scouts watching some of our games last month and that one of our players had caught their attention, but I don't yet know if that's related or not.

Does seem a weird one, especially on a Tuesday night. I'm assuming it'll be an U18 fixture?

I'm not sure at this point, as we just posted a graphic with the team badges on to announce our pre-season. I'd certainly be surprised if it was the first team and would expect that you'd be sending down a youth squad of some description instead.

Blimey, you lot are organised! We haven't heard anything yet although that's because we haven't got a manager or owners who give a shit.
We'll probably end up with the same old stuff and play Dorchester, the Dog & Duck and Bristol City.

We have Buckland and Tiverton away, Exeter at home announced so far. We play Argyle at home pretty much every pre-season so expect that to be added as well.

Middlesbrough are rumoured to be having a South-West training camp so we may get them.

Cefn Druids (A)
Some dicks in Portugal (A)
Telford (A)
Stoke (H)
Curzon Ashton (A)
Crewe (H)

Not a bad selection, but I can't be arsed with any. Might've visited Curzon for a day on the piss but I have other commitments.

Might be swayed by Stoke if I get word that the Welsh Pirlo will be making his long awaited return to the Cae Ras but I suspect he'd have moved on by then.

Crewe will be a good test. Enjoyed the Telford pre season game last season, even though they annihilated us. The Stoke friendlies have always been good too, as they come in numbers, bring decent players and they’ve been a good workout as well.. too much that one year though when they ran riot through our defence.

I wonder if Football Purist will come to the Crewe game?
Tempted by Stoke and Crewe. All in all a decent mix.

Loving Wrexham away on a Saturday afternoon. If guess quite a few Crewe might travel for that one.
