Chester 11th ... I'll have some of that.
Reallity is very unlikely as is your choice of No 1.

I worry about these so-called experts sometimes.

I am more likely to be seen having a friendly drink with Chris FGR than us winning the title.

I think FGR and Tranmere have the strongest squads and the top 3 as I have them will pull away in the final games and leave a gap to 4th.

FGR will see more 4-3’s than 2-0’s, which is all well and good but I think they’ll have to be tighter defensively than that. I’ve got them as title winners because, although Tranmere got the defensive bit right last season and have added Cook, I don’t think Brabin will do the job for them again. That may change if they get rid early enough.

Had question marks over Eastleigh defence, but they’ve added a couple of decent defenders so that’ll help them. They’re now in with more of a chance than I had them down for initially.

I know little about Solihull, but can recall them losing a couple of key players or a key one injured? Or have I made that up?! NFU don’t look like they have a chance in hell of staying up to be honest.

I know even less about the southern promoted sides! Vaguely remember a comment about Sutton doing really well in the second half of last season and momentum will probably see them safe to mid-tableish. Put Maidstone around the same because I can’t be too far wrong either way then!

Tbh, I’m not sure how I’ve got us at 5th. Like GodsGift said a week or two back, you look at it and there’s not really anyone who’s sticking out other than the top 3 so I think there are more teams than normal who are in with a shout of filling the final two PO places. Suspect Wrexham, Barrow, Gateshead, York etc will be thinking similar. I’ve just stuck us there due to the Cowleys, too. I actually don’t think the squad or starting XI is quite at a PO level. More in hope that they could make the difference.

As usual, mid-table will be separated by few points and looks like it’ll be more congested than normal.

Chester just seem destined for that 12th-17th place, Askey will do another good job at Macc, Dover don’t seem to have much of a squad at the minute so it’s difficult to call them, although they have lost 2 key players and 40 goals but still have Miller. Hill will see Woking in a safe position despite their SLASH in budget, Boreham Wood seemed to recruit ok-ish earlier in the summer but heard little since.

Southport will probably have another 4 managers this season, it’s been one of the biggest re-build jobs the Conference has ever seen at Braintree (and I don’t rate Day), Still and Dagenham fit very well and, it appears, so do Torquay and Nicholson. Money at those two might prevent them from pushing for the PO’s.

*Subject to change before the start of the season (I'll give you a heads up if anything does Cheese & Biscuits)!*

Curious what the verdict is on us, can't read that from my phone.

Seems the general consensus on here is we will be top 5 but ever so slightly behind FGR. Would be interesting to see an average done of predicted league positions to confirm or counter that.

I'll be posting the stats from this once the door has been closed on entries. I can also include their predictions in the table to see how they do too.

They have you in second behind us. Then FGR, Eastleigh, Wrexham in that order.

Another thing, I'm not sold on Wrexham, at all. Where has the overall improvement come from? Riley and Jalal look up to the task, but there's a lot of 6/10s in there as well, Barry/Rutherford/Bencherif/Rooney and a few from their Welsh neighbours that they're relying on to make the step up. Questionable value.

Exciting young players such as Curtis Tilt (centre half), Callum Powell (winger), Tyler Harvey (midfielder/striker, also was on trial at Newcastle and Sunderland last month) and Gerry McDonagh (18 year old brute Striker, Rated highly by Forest fans). Add to this a good deal of experience in this league and above. I've only seen one friendly, but I do think you're underestimating at least 3 of the 4 you mentioned in succession, especially Rutherford, he'll be a key player this season, both defensively and offensively. I think this looks like one of the most exciting squads we've built for a while, we have strength (for once), lots of pace, and we look pretty solid defensively. I'm not going to go crazy and say we'll win the league though, but play offs look a strong possibility at the moment.

Oh and on your point about Welsh neighbours, I think we've only signed one of them, in Kai Edwards, who is one of the best footballers at the club and is a definite starter for me, strong in a tackle and excellent coolness and composure on the ball.

Very unknown. There's mention above about Braintree's overhaul. Well, we have just the three players from last season's first team squad still here: Rob Evans, Carrington and Newton.

Have players I think will do well - the keepers, Rooney, Jordan White (when fit), Riley, Tilt.
Then others on paper don't look quite so astute signings - Bakare, Nortei Nortey wheeyyy. Chucked in with a few signings from lower non-league clubs and youngsters released by clubs in the Football League, it's one big melting pot which will be very intriguing to see unfold.

I ultimately think we'll be somewhere from 6th-9th, better than last season, maybe good enough for play-offs but who knows..

The Racing Post? Don't suppose you could upload a closer view of the team verdicts? I nabbed the photo's I posted from another Lincoln forum!

Hilarious. No way will Lincoln finish above, us, Tranmere or Eastleigh. The top 3 will be head and shoulders above everyone else. The rest will be battling for 4th and 5th, which could be a tight battle.

they've obviously done a lot of research - i mean they've even got Manny Smith having signed for Barrow from Wrexham??? CBA checking whether they actually had him signed for Gateshead as well though.....

Whoever wrote that article forgot that Lincoln are Lincoln and will inevitably Lincoln things up at some point even if they are going well. They've been here years now and not threatened the playoffs once. I don't see any team this season suddenly winning the league from being nowhere the year before. There's generally a 'building up' process before a team wins this league, Lincoln haven't even experienced playoff failure down here yet. They need to go through 3 failed playoff campaigns before even thinking about getting out of here.

Yep, agree with all this, we've made some good signings but there's too many gambles in there for me. It looks a hardworking side with some decent cover but there's a lack of proven quality overall. Let's be honest, do we really see Powell or Bailey-Nicholls doing that much, or will they be out on loan to Tamworth by November? It's an unknown. 7th or 8th is right.
