I'd like to think that should the desperados who botch our game actually green light this bullshit then we'll all do the honourable thing and boycott the competition entirely.

A competition without any supporters doesn't stay a competition for long.

The cynic in me says that it makes no difference at all. What are a handful of supporters in the face of the billions of pounds at the top?

Essentially every time something like that comes up, every post-national tournament inquest, every time the gap gets bigger between the haves and have nots, it can be traced back to the seperation of the FL, FA and PL, and that (premier)ship has long sailed.

The point is, half baked ideas like this, or EPPP, come about because there's no longer the option to resolve these issues holistically anymore. Until then, I'm going to sew an 'Against Modern Football' patch on my lapel and complain until anyone gives a crap.

Agree with virtually everything that's been posted here. But, it's all very well us whingeing about yet another dreadful scheme from the greedy league. Have you all phoned or emailed your own clubs - the chairman/CEO, secretary, board members? If you have a supporters group, have you contacted them to find out if they've given their objections to the club's board? And if they haven't, why the hell not and when are they going to pull their collective fingers out? The bastards in the prem/FA/FL can't do this without agreement from a majority of L1 and L2 clubs and there are bound to be a few head honchos of those clubs who'll be tempted by the prospect of a few more short-term schekels or fear of having some withdrawn. Let them know what you/we think. Individual badgering - the more, the better - has far more impact than petitions.

This is the first step on the way to B teams in the football league pyramid. Would be an enormous blow to lower league teams

If there is a problem with the top clubs bringing young players through, then that is an issue for those clubs to work on (and it's mostly of their own making) and it's certainly not worth destroying L1 and L2 clubs and their competitions over.

JPT gets a lot of stick and there's certainly an argument for scrapping it, but a day out at Wembley in '98 against Grimsby was one of my foremost childhood memories (even though we lost). Certainly the highlight of spending the entire 90s bobbing around the third tier.

But in any case, scrapped or continues, the future of the JPT should be formed by the club's who's competition it is. Not meddled with for the sake of Man City and Chelsea's academy warehouse of players.

And the potential of it leading onto B teams in the league structure is so retarded my makes my brain hurt.

I would guess the Football League has the final say on anything with the JPT? And the FL vote would be taken by the committee of Chairmen that hold the FL Rep positions? In that guess, lobby those chairmen.

Will premier league clubs actually be happy sending their top youth prospects to have the shit kicked out of them for 90 minutes at the likes of Morecambe, Accrington, Barnet and Stevenage?
If they are allowed a few reserves in there as well I suppose it's a good way to finally end Jack Wilshire's career.

Exactly what I thought - how will they learn from playing against a very different type of football than they will usually face at the highest level?

And often on pitches much worse.

I believe there is something to be said for young players experiencing this to an extent, because let's be honest there's 2 or 3 premier league sides who will happily kick the shit out of your players, never mind Stevenage or Accrington. It's the one part of the game any young player will need to bridge at some point between youth football and senior football, regardless of what level they play at.

But I believe the loan system is well placed to do that job.
