Your style isn't even comparable to Brentford's. You play a lot of the game without the ball and when you have it play percentage football, from what I've seen they create many more chances in an average game than you do.
The stats earlier in the season actually had Brentford first for chances created in the league and us second. I wonder if that’s changed much in the meantime, I’d hazard probably not.
I think my overall point is that a perhaps if not smarter manager than certainly a manager more pragmatic would not put as much emphasis on dominating a game as Smith does. With special exceptions (Barca for example), winning sides usually don’t set out to dominate games for the entire 90. They hit sides in spells of domination and then close games out as early as possible. That isn’t just to do with having a predatory striker, it’s about urgency and self-belief. More importantly, it’s about knowing how to deal with a variety of situations and being able to change things up when necessary.

Unless millwall happen to be involved in the away leg then it will get moved to 12.30, sure something similar happened or was going to happen to them the other year in league one, I have a feeling sypd were involved again too.

Fair enough. I wasn't knocking your style by the way, I think you're doing superbly to get the best out of what you have and players like Marshall, Wallace etc are immensely talented and I'd love them here.

I take your point but I think in a lot of games they'd be out of sight if they had a potent striker and then could manage the game.

Done some predictions and basically I think anything less than 9 points for Preston down to bristol city and it won't be happening. Could do with Boro beating derby and millwall I reckon would give the best chance but then derby have a game in hand as well, it's a tough ask.

I disagree, I think 7 would be enough for us. I can't see Millwall beating Fulham and then they have to go away to Boro so at least one of them drops points there. I think Derby have fucked it plus they still have Boro aswell. I fancy Boro for 5th and Brentford for 6th. Reckon we will slip up on Saturday to finally end our season for the 5th time.

I've got millwall drawing with Boro and Fulham and beating villa. Villa draw with derby and beat Ipswich and 7 points ain't enough. Even if Boro and wall only get 4 points each 7 points won't be enough for either of us 2 due to gd.

I would have Ben Marshall back at S6 tomorrow, Rhodes would thrive on his crossing.

I'd definitely go for him if Millwall don't go up, we need some quality out wide if Eliasson's not "ready" yet. If not then McGeady or McManaman, again two ex-Wednesday, would be nice.

You might have your wish if we don’t go up. We didn’t put an agreement in to sign him permanently when we took him on loan and rumour is that his price has gone up. I could see us taking the risk at something like 1-1.5m, but he’s worth double that in today’s market.

Maybe part of a deal for Reid.... you're certainly interested.

I'd be extremely surprised to hear we are. Wouldnt make the bench regularly this season and expect us go be in for an upgrade on Bonatini type before anyone like Reid.

What're you talking about? He's a much better striker than Bonatini (who's not scored since early December in case you haven't noticed) and would fit your mould absolutely perfectly with his close control and energy levels. He's a much better fit than Afobe as well. You had scouts at our game against Birmingham, only other one you could've been watching was Marlon Pack who you were linked with in January.

That's what I was thinking. Imagine there will be a lot of clubs in for him either way if you don't, but sure you'll replace him.

I think you'll be setting your standards much much higher than Bobby Reid that is for sure.

So would I but I wouldn't be surprised if they moved for him. Leicester, Bournemouth and Watford have all been linked with him, perhaps this'll be more realistic for Wolves rather than expecting to go out and spend £35m in every position on some player that Mendes has persuaded to sign for Wolves for a couple of years ahead of Barcelona.

I expect you to make some big signings before next season.
Not knocking Reid but wouldn't expect him to be one of them.
Some big name signings and a some less well known to us from overseas would be my guess.
Think you will really have a go, with the money in your club.

Thing is I think that's exactly what they will go and do, well over 100m spent I expect. Bobby Reid has a similar record to Leon Clarke this season, infact it's a little worse,:bg::bg: he'd be better staying with you another year.

Not a bad season for his first season as a striker, only 24 as well. Think you're right though, Clarke has a better GPM ration doesn't he? I'd love to think that'd be the case but there's no chance we're gonna risk losing him for nowt as his contract's up next year, he'll be long gone and Wolves would be a good fit as he's better than anything they currently have, even if it's only as back-up.

Need to offer him a new contract then sharpish.

We have done but why would he sign here on 25 grand per week when he could sign for Bournemouth on double that.

Reid is 5ft7? And from my view is more of a extremely mobile poacher. Bonatini, Afobe, Mir are all 6ft plus. So is Andre Silva and the fair majority of Nuno's previous strikers. Who all play a sort of withdrawn 9 role intergial in linking in play, not bursting away from it. Bonatini hasn't scored since dec but my comment was there would be an upgrade on his style of striker. Reid if he was at Wolves would most likely be similar to Dicko, who was clearly struggling to adapt to the system. Nuno himself doesnt seem particularly fond of Afobe, most recently he has played in one of the two support attacker roles.

You obviously haven't seen much of Reid then.

If you really think Bobby Reid is a poacher I'd suggest you watch him play, he's really anything but. Midfielder converted striker he's good on the ball, quick and tricky.

I wouldn't risk £10m on a player that has had one very good season but in football it is the norm it seems.

Regardless he isnt the player I described Nuno seems totprefer. I would rather have Reid than Afobe, but have mentioned Afobe doesn't really fit us anyway and we look really poor when trying to accommodate a traditional striker. Forest at home and both Fulham and Villa away we were worse when we tried.

On the contrary, I would say Reid exactly 'plays a sort of withdrawn 9 role integral in linking in play'.
That is who is he. Its a bonus that he scores so many goals.
Hence, a high valuation.
Not saying Wolves will be in for him though.
