Good old Vale. Battering you softened you up for us a few days later.

Just done the same thing to Northampton as well.

Cheers, lads!

You soften Oldham up for us in a few weeks and we will return the favour with Crawley deal?

I think now its the top 10 only involved in the race for promotion, FGR still in it if they can pick up a couple of wins but need them quickly.

Top 9 are obviously right in it with 5-9th separated by a point so very open at this stage.

What we saying around 72-74 points should be enough for top 7? Currently 72 points would do it if 7th place keeps on the trajectory PPG.

Well our next 3 are against Oldham, Scunthorpe and Orient, so on paper there’s points to be had. 7-9 points and we’re back in it, but we need to improve for that to happen.

They lost to Exeter on Tuesday, and based on what I saw of them at our place, they are dire!

Down to ten for much of it though, they'd hammered Bradford and Mansfield recently.

Yep they were superb in their 1-5 defeat to Exeter on Tuesday.

Well given that our defence is probably three times as bad as Exeter’s and our attack about half as good, it doesn’t looK good.

As you'll probably note, I've got a life and I'm not on here daily or even weekly. You didn't "send us packing" you were god awful and one of the worst teams I've seen us play all season. We were all over you, should've been about 4 or 5 up by half time, but we didn't capitalise and you came out stronger second half and somehow won the game, completely unjustly but with a few lucky counter-attacks that's what happens.

You still have no chance of going up. You're fucking dire.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Stick to crayons and Fisher Price you absolute spunk bubble.

Vale have looked quality both times I've seen them tbf. Much better side then us. Only sides that have maybe looked better are Crewe, Plymouth and Carlisle. Genuinely expect them to make the playoffs. They've got a bit of everything, they can get in your face, they're pretty tough physically but they also move it around well.

We've improved massively since last year and beaten all but Colchester in the top 10 (hopefully end that tomorrow) so have the quality there but our game management has held us back as you saw a glimpse of it Tuesday night!

We've dropped 24 points I believe from winning positions which is crazy, if we'd held onto an average amount we'd be top 3 so if we fall short I guess we will be kicking ourselves a bit!

To be fair the Vale v FGR game early season was a great battle with two very good sides on the night, FGR were as good as anyone who has visited and we played one of our performances of the season, two sides, ball on deck going at it. Its a shame you've had a few injuries, is your pitch causing you issues as for a footballing side it looked a mess Tuesday?

Makes you wonder how you threw in such a dismal performance at the CG a few weeks ago. It was pretty dreadful.

Few factors I would say, losing Smith saw us collapse once he limped off and Brisley was useless (he's since been an absolute monster and actually keeping Smith out the side since) so lack of organisation at the back, added to that you were a different gravy on the day to anyone else we have faced this season. Pope being a penis on twitter and being banned didn't help as Bennett can't trap wind away from home and Cullen isn't a lone striker...

Add that in to the fact we do throw in a stinker every 6 weeks or so! (Or in this case twice in 10 days!)

Have to credit the opposition though, we've only lost twice against anyone in the top 12 this season and you battered us once Smudge went off and no one else has looked a fraction of the quality.

The pitch is awful which doesn't help. Our away record is much better then our home which wasn't great earlier in the season, and has now got worse as the pitch has deteriorated.

Injuries are also hitting hard, plus we've got a lot of young players whose confidence is now shot, along with a truckload of average loan signings brought in during January.

All adds up to our loss of form from where we were earlier in the season.

I said after we beat Cheltenham that 10 of the next 12 would be crucial for our promotion ambitions.

Macclesfield D
Scunthorpe D
Orient W
Walsall W
Oldham W

We were absolute dogshit in the games we drew so to get a point from both those games wasn't bad at all. 5 of our next 7 are Crawley, Macclesfield, Morecambe, Stevenage and Mansfield though. Tough trips to Plymouth and Exeter are a bonus in this run but if we got 15 points from this run (a big ask) I'd really fancy us to go into the last 8 games needing to win 4 of those to go up even if most are against sides in the mix like Northampton, Colchester, Vale, Bradford and FGR.
I also have no idea how you beat us 2 - 0.
We were by far the better side on the night, but that's how it goes when you're near the top/bottom of the league, wins/losses seem to come your way.

Vale are a good team. They're not likely to beat teams by 4 or 5 very often but it is absolutely no surprise to me that they are in with a real shout of the play-offs.

We don't ever beat teams 4 or 5 frustratingly for the heart!

10 of our 13 wins have been by a single goal with the others by 2, one against ten man Morecambe and oddly Exeter and Swindon! I would love to sit back and enjoy the last 20 minutes of a game more often but even at 3-0 up on Tuesday with 13 to go i couldn't!

We were coping pretty easily until Smith was forced off. Fell apart then.

The deadlock being broken by your fluke goal changed things. If we went in at half time at 0-0, it’s a totally different second half. We were still on the backfoot after that gutting goal, and you swiftly added a second before half time, and killed the game off.

You’re a decent side though so credit yourselves rather than criticise us. Not to mention, we just do not play well away at Swindon. It’s the law.

We’ve defo got a shitter in us, Swindon, macc (x2) Walsall off the top of my head, but we not as shit as previous years which is incredible considering the amount of players who were here last year.
We ain’t got a lot of goals in us, Bennett and Cullen just aren’t good enough for me.
Aside from Swindon away (which had been in my diary for a while as my mate lives there) i’ve not been a game since the Man City game where my brother took ill.
My mind associates going the football with bad things, and i’m not ashamed to say I was quite anxious at Swindon.

Had Askey been manager last year we’d have never struggled to be fair, Aspin was useless as much as a love him as a player. Too negative, Pope completely isolated and Worrall never picked which is crazy to think about, once he got to Grip with us the performances generally improved late last season. Plus we got rid of the bad eggs in the dressing room.

Decent afternoon for us.

Genuinely believe we have enough to make the play offs.

Long way to go but it feels like we are starting to peak at the right time and most of the other playoff contenders are just struggling a little. We do look like a good team now and that is without playing what is probably our first choice eleven.

Watch us go and lose at the Bescot now saying that.

1FF's resident L2 expert Devon Lad had this to say, and I quote,
'You still have no chance of going up. You're fucking dire'.

Fast forward two days and the no chance, fucking dire side has just swept aside a decent Col U team.

Keep'em coming Devon Lad

One word.....phwew.

Still, it's three more vital points, "joint top" and (most importantly) MATHEMATICALLY safe from relegation.

Happy days!

I don't think you will be "Grumpy Grecian" come the end of the season but prepared to be proved wrong!

A Devon promotion double?
