Unsurprisingly all tickets for the Hartlepool game on Sunday have sold out

What's everyone's clubs doing regarding masks?

Bit of a debate on our forum as to whether they are necessary in an ourdoors setting given you don't even need one indoor in pubs etc now.

From bits of the games this week, seems a mixed bag really from one extreme of barely anyone wearing them to almost everyone at a place like Bournemouth.

I went to a Non League game at step 6 last night c.200 crowd, didn't see a single person wearing one.

You do need a mask in pubs indoors, don't you? It's next month when pubs are back to normal I think? Pubs are currently masks on when moving about, and you can only take them off when you're at the table. Groups of 6 and table service too, right?

But yeah contrasting use of masks on the games I saw. Everyone had them on in the Newport v FGR playoff but then nobody really seemed to bother in another game I watched. Could have been the FA Cup final maybe.

We’ve said people need to wear them when moving around, as in a pub, but it’s optional when at your seat. Which seems fair enough.

We’ve been told by the London Borough of Sutton that they are mandatory at all times. I guess it depends on your local authorities rules.

I don't believe it was defined in our statement about the return of fans but my assumption is that it will work similarly to our game vs. Weymouth back in December - i.e. you'll need to wear a mask when moving around the stadium but it can be taken off once sat/standing at your position in the ground. That's what I'll be doing anyway.

Edit: I take it back, it is mentioned and the above is correct.

Which is exactly the problem I've mentioned previously, there is no reason why Sutton Council should introduce their own rules on this. It's just a needlees burden on businesses that isn't based on scientific guidance.

Masks are largely unnecessary outdoors. Outdoor transmission is very low, it's indoors that it makes sense to wear them.

Legally, does a local authority have the jurisdiction to introduce that rule? Surely the rules are nationwide, unless localised restrictions have been put into place?

It just seems to depend how helpful/amenable your local safety group is. Ours look to have been great, even helping us get the allowed capacity up towards 5k when the initial 4.4K sold out.

Unfortunately they do. The council health and safety team seem to be able to add on whatever they like with no controls.

Surprised at that. Knowing what local councils are like, it seems absolutely mad that they can trump the scientists constantly being referred to as industry experts by top level government. Unless, I'm missing something and these council health and safety teams are made up of these experts? I'm guessing it's the likes of Jill, Head of Compliance for London Borough of Sutton Health and Wellbeing, though. Actually, what the fuck am I saying...why am I surprised at our country rolling out an odd protocol?!

Yep same here (not the London Borough of Sutton bit).

"All attendees for the Barnet match will be required to wear face masks at all times"

Where I am in Saudi you have to wear them indoors and outdoors at all times. It's just a balmy 44 degrees during the day now.

Slightly worrying I think I look better with a mask on. At least that’s what the other half says

Similar temperatures to me at work that, I work on an oven and the heats bad enough anyway but having to wear a mask too makes it pretty unbearable at times.

Well done Nottingham city council and the club for not making us wear masks in the stands, seems far more balanced than London boroughs.

Surely it’s down to local CCG’s? (and if you’re in an area not currently having the delight of the Indian variant)

I couldn’t care less if I had to wear a mask in a football stadium, or anywhere else for that matter.

It’s the dominant variant in Nottingham, but cases are falling. Something very odd/unique seems to be happening in Bolton.

Not just Bolton, there’s about ten areas the government have listed that they are concerned about (and that’ll be at the minimum of course).

We don’t have to wear them except for walking around the stadium and in toilets for Wrexham Match, once seated or on your terrace spot they can be removed. Nonsense all of it when you think the group of 5 I’ll be with are all vaccinated and will be drinking at a table ‘inside’ the clubhouse before and after the match but once we go ‘outside’ we’re not allowed to sit together as we’re not in a ‘bubble’. Ridiculous nonsense.

I went to the cup final last weekend and hardly anyone in the Chelsea section was wearing one. Having been in the pub for four hours beforehand where you would have been looked on as someone very strange for wearing one, probably the actions inside the ground were not a great surprise, though in the queue for the stadium people wore them.

At Stones, you wear one whilst moving around the ground but not once you are in situ. Hillingdon Council being a bit of an arse. A failure to comply could mean a reduction in capacity for next season.

I am off to Porto next weekend and suggestions there are that you wear one all of the time.

El Americano (American owner derby) Guess they will want a game of whose in 7th and if Eastleigh win tonight that’s who they’ll have. Could be out of Chesterfield and Halifax hands by Saturday.

There's no trains running so that'll help put a stop to that happening in large numbers.
