I really don't get why you'd sack Pulis if you're just going to replace him with Pardew. If you're not willing to take a bit of a risk or go for something a little different why would you make the change? Pulis wasn't taking them down. Pardew's record shows they'll have some good runs, some bad and finish about 12th. What's new?

Wasn't the case for Palace last season, pretty much nailed on for relegation after a whole year of shite until Pardew left.

Was pretty much what happened when he first took over though, was it not? But yeah that's a fair point. In which case it's not even a safe option!

Such a boring, uninspired appointment. Amazed given the reasoning for his sacking they didn't either go for someone from Europe or an up and comer who at least might have a higher ceiling. Can't believe someone like Chris Wilder wasn't in the frame. Tbf McInnes would've fitted into that category if he hadn't turned them down.

Think he'll keep them up, they've got a decent squad. But then what? I predict he lasts 2 years before being sacked with them in the relegation zone, to be replaced by Steve Bruce. The cycle will repeat until their eventual inevitable relegation comes as a blessed relief.

What makes you so sure? They were in absolutely atrocious form. They hadn't won in 10 league games and had won two in 21. That sort of form gets you relegated handsomely.

A large part of that was when they cruised the end of last season with nothing to play for. As for this, they started with 8 pts from 5 then yeah they've been on a bad run. He's been on similar before and his teams tend to grind out a couple of results from somewhere and turn it around. Hey, I might be wrong.

But my point wasn't that he shouldn't have been sacked. It's why replace him with someone whom in all likelihood will have you in the same situation in a year or 2?

Pardew will have his initial good run, then it'll go pear in the last few months, though they'll be safe.
The rot will continue until he's sacked this time next year and they look for someone who is proven at stopping teams dropping out the division. Someone like Pulis!

Of all the Allardyce, Moyes and Pardew appointments Pardew is demonstrably the worst.

A charlatan with more failures than success, and a long list of transgressions.

You can tell he is Redknapp levels of corrupt, too.

Care to defend that in a court of law? IP has been logged - detract before Pard's representatives become informed.

Pulis doesn't go down. Like Big Sam, he knows how to keep a side in the Prem. Stoke were a mess when he arrived (22nd in the Championship I believe) and he made them into an established Premiership side (10th season in a row this term).
