You're right, he is clearly a reformed character because he scored a goal at the weekend.
Why are you being a dick? I didn't even say that but his attitude since being here suggests he has changed.

We had a reformed character in Gary Roberts... absolutely class midfielder with a past of alcohol issues and off field issues.

First few months he was pure brilliance and we were tugging silly over him... needless to say after a few months he was turning into training drunk, got in trouble (with a couple of our younger players at the time such as Lee Collins) and was soon fired.

Give it a few months before suggesting Ranger is a reformed character as chances are the leopard hasn't changed his spots.

His charge sheet would suggest he hasn't.
The alleged offence took place in Feb 2015 so as I said before this is more his past catching up with him rather than 'playing up' now

If me saying scoring is the right way to come back at his critics as in 'let his football do the talking' is me saying he is a reformed character then yeah you have a point :\

I appreciate that and I do see your point.
If he were to be found guilty of defrauding a vulnerable woman of a couple of thousand pounds what would be your attitude though, would you still be happy for him to be representing your club every week.
Not a dig, just a genuine question.

He's an excellent player no one can deny that but he always seems to slip up either on or off the football pitch. No one wants to see a player like that imo. lets hope this latest scandal will be a load of rubbish.

If found guilty I would have no problem with him playing for us once he has served his punishment whatever it may be. If the alleged offence took place whilst he was here with us my view would be different.

Sorry mate, I just don't get that at all.
If he has committed a pretty despicable crime then how does it matter when or where?
If he did it (and it is IF at the moment) then it shouldn't really matter if it were 22 months ago or 22 minutes ago.

The chap has been given numerous opportunities to clean up his act and has decided not to.
His critics are not concerned with how good at football he is.

Keep kidding yourself with the use of 'alleged' all you like; your club have employed an utter scumbag and it is a matter of when not if he gets banged up, again.

Half true. The guy is a model pro on the pitch. At Swindon I don't think he even got booked for us, he was great on the pitch. It was just off that causes the problems.

I kind of agree with Robie here, if he is found guilty of defrauding a vulnerable person of 2k I hope Southend do the right thing. He was on last chance saloon at Swindon and ended up assaulting a women. I think he'a very lucky to have given him another chance.

Shrimper, I don't think NR has any critics on the pitch, as stated earlier he is the model pro on it. I think answering his critics would be something like donating a large amount of his salary to underpriveliged people or sleeping rough with the homeless etc.

I'd imagine there are Plymouth fans who were happy to take McCormick back

I am sure you are right.
Is the moral standard that you and your club are aiming for then?

The club obviously knew it was a risk taking him on but bought into the fact he said he had turned it around. He has done so well since being here on and off the field that we've given him a 3.5 year deal 4 months into the season so clearly now everyone at the club feels he has changed. This took place nearly 2 years ago before we had him when he was in his words 'a dark place'. If he is guilty then the courts will make him serve his punishment and rightfully so but from what we've seen we have a very talented player who wants to work hard and is keeping his nose clean a very different guy to the one of two years ago.

Fair enough.
I guess it is a personal thing but I would be very uncomfortable with someone who has his history playing for my club.
He has done what he has done, whether he claims to have reformed or not.
But then we all know that professional football is morally bankrupt anyway.
This is just another example in a long, depressing list.

Not even close to being the same thing.

McCormick was an idiot and made a horrendous mistake who served his time and has since devoted himself to helping charities, doesn't make what he did right but certainly shows he's a normal bloke who made a mistake, is extremely remorseful and is now doing all he can to make amends.

Ranger on the other hand is a total piece of shit human being and a repeat offender who has been arrested/charged for nearly every conceivable crime, shows absolutely no remorse or any signs of changing.

I hate seeing wasted talent, so many kids grow up wanting to play this game and can't, yet he is tossing it all away at every opportunity. Would love to see him turn his life around and prove people wrong, he just hasn't got the capabilities to do it as evidenced by his celebration at the weekend.

And we are hardly in a position to preach, as we had a certain Marlon King on our books, and he had more 'form' than Desert Orchid

Couldn't care less, clubs take on players fully aware of their past, if the decision turns out to be wrong (i.e. the players performance is crap) then they get rid, if the decision is good (he scores goals, creates goals, defends goals, saves goals etc), the supporters and club don't care....football is very fickle as we all know

Supposedly. No-one knew he was going to be charged for conspiracy to defraud until last week so who knows what else he's been up to.

If I were him, I would concentrate on getting my nut down and just do my job. Running round with your finger to your mouth hardly screams remorse or shame that he's even been charged for a disgusting, cowardly crime.

He won't be sentenced until April though, so the vile piece of shit can carry on playing for your club.

Depends as in light of his confession they could decide to terminate his deal...
