As a supporter of a football club who nearly fell into oblivion twice, I can only sympathise with what Reading supporters must be going through and I'm sure we all are hoping they pull through.

Looks more like a power play by the EFL to ensure the proposed sale goes through with no shenanigans this time from the owner. Probably needs this. Like the OP says hopefully it can lead to more stability for Reading. Was there the day their fans had our game with them abandoned last season and while somewhat inconveniencing for us did understand and support their reasoning too.
