Easy.

I broke the ankle of the star striker on the school football team in P.E. I didn't even want to play football that day but the hockey group was already at full capacity when I came out of the dressing room.

I still say it was a fair tackle btw.

X-Country Champ in year 10 & 11 in High School (15 and 16 year old).
6 mins 59 for what was about a mile and a third or so.
Speculating but that's definitely never been beaten as the drinking age has only got lower and lower since I left school.

Yes for the first one and no, no they weren't. I also had buck teeth as well; yep I spent a lot of time with books back then instead of learning about the good stuff! :D

Back in 8th grade, at the age of 15, I won a poetry competition in which every 8th grader in my hometown (100k-ish population) submitted a piece, it was obligatory. But obviously this was at the height of peer pressure and poetry wasn't really that cool, so I refused to attend the dinner gala thingy they had for all the finalists. It still bugs me when I think about it, to be honest.

When I started work I used to get a lift from a mate whose wife was a teacher at the primary school I attended. She spoke to one of my old teachers about me and he said, 'oh him, he was a very strange little boy. '

At primary school we used to have competitions for who had the most portions of each food item at lunchtime. I think I held the record of 9 return visits for semolina but was pipped to the post on the more hotly-contested custard competition.

I scored the 1st ever goal for my school football team, when I lived in Harrow (Newton Farm first and middle). It was a brand new school.

Also got the highest percentage in my German exam a couple of years later.

I played right back for my secondary school every year. Last season while I was still there we played a school from Alloa area (Lornshill Academy) whose star player was Alan Hansen who went on to play for Liverpool. He played midfield in those days and before we played them all we heard was how fucking great this lad was....it got tedious. First game against then was away at Alloa and tbh he was brilliant & they won. Later in the season when we played them at our school, well let's say I had decided he wasn't going to be taking ANY pish....so at the first 50/50 ball he and I went for my boot accidentally got him in the gut. He flopped that day, we won....job done!

Maybe you could've signed for them as well and won European Cups. :p

One of my regrets in life Salty....not saying I would have made the grade but I wish I had stuck at it after I left school & had a go. More interested in burds & booze mate.

Yeah I knew a couple of mates that were very keen on being a footballer when we were younger and who were bloody good at it as well, but also found the joys of booze and burds as well and it all fell by the wayside. One of my own mates growing up was Mo Ross, who went on to play for Rangers and Scotland briefly, and good on him. Also another of my mates, whose a bit younger than me used to play against Charlie Adam growing up. I myself was shite at it! :D

One guy at my secondary played professional with St Johnstone.....another went to Man City, had a serious leg break and that ended his time there....not sure if he played on. One guy I was at primary with signed for Rangers but was billy big bollocks who thought he knew better than what he was being shown & had his arse booted out the door....he was a tremendous player at that time but became a plumber and I heard a shite plumber at that!.....I mind of Maurice...grand player btw.
