Sounds like a description of Ricky Lambert.

If it were up to me, I'd have him back at Rochdale...

He is a useful player just one who needs quality around him to thrive.

We have no midfield so he really struggled when played on his own up top.

Regardless, I expect him to move into L1, L2 or a top flight abroad next season.

As our 13 contracted pros for next season consist of two goalies, three centre backs, seven midfielders and a 17year old winger, there might just be a need for a forward!

Byron Harrison might be available when we know what league we are in next season and announce our retained list. And as we train at Hopwood Hall he'd know what he's in for moving to Rochdale too.

I vaguely remembered him being decent for Cheltenham a few years ago so had a look at Wiki. He did have a good season for 'Nam six years ago, and seems to have done OK for you guys, but there's not a lot more, and he's 33. Might do a job in L2, but we're in L1.

Talking of L2, I thought Barrow had achieved promotion thereto? A couple of localish fixtures with Carlisle and Morecambe to look forward to?

we're waiting on confirmation of the National league vote - votes have to be in by 5pm today - so if everything goes to plan* (when does it ever though?) we find out later today - or early tomorrow.
*even our old enemy Hereford are apparently backing the proposal....

yes - Carlisle i've only ever seen pre-season when we nearly always used to beat them.
Morecambe i've been to in their Conference days.
Also looking forward to going to Bolton and Oldham - both of which i've seen us away in FA Cup matches.

You can't have seen Byron Harrison in a while then?!

NL North standard nowadays at best

Not seen him in six years! I did notice his less than stellar stats for Barnet on Wikipedia, but he does seem to have contributed at Barrow.

Good luck to him, although outside the top 3 or 4 teams the SPL is, IMHO, no better than League 2.
The fact that they bought Kabamba from Hartlepool and he adapted pretty quickly to the SPL shows the standard of most of the SPL. Celtic are top-end Championship level, Sevco top end League 1 and Aberdeen bottom-end League 1 standard but the rest are below that.

I posted about this on the L2 forum but it doesn't surprise me Kabamba's doing well there. He did after all score twice against Barnet this season which shows his unrivaled quality as a footballer and as a man.

A few strange ones. Teddy Unwin Marris was originally signed as a youth team keeper and hasnt made a single appearance so its strange to offer a deal
Offering Ben Tomlinson a new deal is a bonehead decision IMO. Injuries have made him not the player he was in his first spell. Shame to see Ryan Qualter leave too and Id like to see some of those offered deals such as Bobby Johnson Josh Wilde and Andy Kellett

Is Tomlinson even playing much nowadays?

Offers to Luke James and Mark Kitching withdrawn as the deadline expired.

James is a particular blow and Kitching was getting better, both were playing well under Challinor and fitted his style.

I think we are completely and utterly fucked. 8 players on the books, no paid club staff any more. We sacked our excellent media manager and replaced him with a 20 year old Journalism undergraduate, for free, obviously. Lots of infighting amongst fans, chairman wants to sell up or if not find alternative investment/buyers.

Just as looked like a corner might be turning, it is bleak, it really is. The soul of the club has gone. We are treating people like shit and I don't blame the players looking elsewhere.

Nope. Hardly played at last season due to injuries and when he did he look chronically unfit. Bit shocked he has been offered a new deal to be honest. Think it may be a player/coach role possibly

Is Luke James likely to step up to L2? If he's back up to the standard he was when he was here, I'd love him to come back!

He hasn't scored much at FL level but think he could probably do a job harrying and pressing which he is good at. Some people reckon he's still signing on for us, only time will tell.

The Sun journalist Alan Nixon has tweeted this as a rumour after spying on this thread. (Hi Alan)

Hi Alan,

If you're reading, I heard you work for the Sun. I hold your publication in such high regard, that even if I was out of bog roll, I still wouldn't use your paper to clean up the mess.

I'd appreciate it if you now kindly fuck off and boil your head in sugary water.

Ta.

P.S, before you go, rumour our side is that Hartlepool are about to be bought out by Elon Musk. Talks were held last night with current owner Raj Singh over a gourmet dinner of chicken parmo in Seaton Carew. A deal is supposed to be close.

* Hartlepool's new stadium will be completed in 2030 and will be called "Victory Park Mons" and will be located on the slopes of Olympus Mons... on Mars...

I'd like us to sign Kennedy & Ponticelli after their loans and hopefully Jennings and Carrington re-sign.

Lawlor is still pretty decent I think and will end up somewhere in this league. JJ Hooper back to Bromley no doubt. Summerfield used to be good but no longer, the level down from here is calling for him. The rest are garbage.
