The original Royle Family series were an absolute masterpiece, Mrs Merton (and Malcolm) also. Another resident of Timperley too. Gutting news.

Indeed. A sad loss. I knew she'd battled cancer on and off over the years but unfortunately this time lost the battle.

She was brilliant in most of the stuff she either starred in from the Fast Show, Mrs Merton and writing alongside Craig Cash in The Royce Family with the only irritating thing was that infantile voice she and Cash adopted over the years. That's nitpicking I know but she will be remembered as one of the great female comedienne's we've had.

Quite sad to read in the papers that she died at home alone as her family didn't realize just how poorly she was.
